The next step in alarm volution
The new 160e Series is built on high quality, reliable and proven technology. Advancement that is tried, tested and trusted. SERIES
Ei Electronics specialise in residential Fire & CO protection – it’s all we do and have done for the past 50 years. We have more mains powered alarms fitted in homes across Europe than any other manufacturer and are the only Smoke, Heat and CO Alarm manufacturer to test every single alarm three times during the manufacturing process. By fitting Ei Electronics alarms you can be confident you’re getting the best protection.
Tried, tested, trusted.
Building on our original 150 Series alarms, the 160 Series was successfully launched in 1999 and has given proven performance in millions of installations. It has constantly evolved to provide more functionality, such as RadioLINK wireless interconnection and Remote Control.
It’s time for the 160 Series to make its next evolutionary progression.

Introducing the 160 The new 160e Series is built on the same high quality, reliable and proven technology as our previous 160 Series, but brings with it a whole raft of enhancements to increase performance.
provides higher protection is easier to install has an increased resistance to false alarms is compatible with RadioLINK+ technology for simple expansion of systems has improved ergonomics has a clean, modern design is future proof provides whole system data extraction and is fully compatible with existing Ei systems
Modern Design Totally redesigned to be more compact and incorporate new technology, providing an increase in performance, the 160e Series is up to 18% slimmer compared to the 160RC Series alarms.
This new slimline modern design allows the alarms to be less obtrusive into the room, whilst maintaining the same easi-fit footprint, meaning it’s simple to upgrade from the 160RC Series alarms with no re-decorating costs.

Easier Installation Our easi-fit base has been proven to give quick, reliable installation. With the 160e Series, we’ve made it even better.
More screw holes have been added to the base to save on installation times when upgrading or replacing existing systems. The holes line up with previous easi-fit and RadioLINK alarm bases, so no need to drill extra holes.
Align with previous installations
And the holes have been adapted, so N°8 Screws can now be used.
Bigger terminals have been created to accommodate 1.5mm2 cable more easily, making it more straightforward to wire.
We’ve retained the trunking pull-out, which allows trunking to be added quickly and neatly.
We’ve imprinted ‘O’ for Optical or and ‘I’ for Ionisation on the test buttons, and added colour coding to the back of every alarm type, so it’s easier to check the alarm type and fit in the correct room/area when installing.
Improved Performance The Ei166e, Optical alarm, has a new sensor chamber to give better resistance to false alarms.
Developed from the proven optical chamber in our flagship Multi-Sensor alarm, the sensor is now cylindrical in shape and features a bonded protective mesh that encapsulates the whole sensor to keep out potential contaminates such as dust and insects whilst still allowing the free flow of smoke.

Fast response heat sensor The Ei164e, Heat alarm, has a new thermistor giving a faster alarm response when the trigger temperature of 58°C is reached.

Rechargeable lithium cells
All 160e Series alarms feature our proven Panasonic rechargeable lithium cells, which provide tamperproof and maintenance free rechargeable lithium back-up for the whole 10 year life of the alarm - offering the best value for money. Since introducing Panasonic rechargeable cells in our 160 Series alarms in 1999, we’ve never had a single failure.
RadioLINK Our award winning technology has also evolved into
The RadioLINK+ Module The 160e Series can now interconnect wirelessly with other RadioLINK and RadioLINK+ alarms and accessories via a plug in module. The Ei100MRF just slots into the alarm and is automatically activated ready to be House Coded in with the rest of the system. Compared to the previous 160RC Series it saves on installation time and associated costs. RadioLINK+ is only available in the 160e Series.
Remote House Coding
To enable each RadioLINK and RadioLINK+ alarm to interconnect wirelessly as a system they must be House Coded together. When each alarm is in House Code mode it will learn the unique serial numbers of the other alarms in House Code mode at that time to establish a secure connection.
RadioLINK+ has made it easier to expand existing systems. Previously, if you wanted to add another RadioLINK alarm or accessories into an existing RadioLINK system, each alarm would have to be manually put into House Code mode. With RadioLINK+ only one alarm in the existing system needs putting into Remote House Code mode along with the new alarm/ accessory that needs adding.
With the introduction of the RadioLINK+ module, the House Coding slot has now been moved onto the actual alarm making it easy to access and use. All the alarms can be House Coded in situ when installed. This is significant as it allows the installer to check the Radio Frequency signal (used for wireless interconnection) strength at the exact location the alarms will be when protecting the occupants and dwelling.
As well as enabling wireless interconnection, RadioLINK’s capabilities have grown making it simpler to control, test and asset manage alarm systems even when access to the property is not possible.
Monitoring RadioLINK+ has an enhanced self-monitoring function that recognises system tampering or alarm head removal. Each alarm in the system will search for the alarm with the strongest Radio Frequency signal to it and pair up with it. At regular intervals, these two alarms will communicate with each other. If someone has removed Alarm 1 from its base, Alarm 2 will not get a response and log it into its memory and change its indicator light. It will also send an ‘Alarm Removed’ signal that can be used to trigger a warning to a third party device, e.g. a warden call or panel system, if connected to a module such as the Ei414 Fire/CO Alarm Interface. Even if Alarm 1 is replaced, there will still be a log of this event.

Data Set Up At installation details of the system can be collected, such as number of units, types of alarms, location of alarms, Radio Frequency signal strength between alarms, serial numbers of the devices and how long the alarms have been in operation.
Location of alarms
Types of alarms
Record at install
Radio frequency signal strength between alarms
Device serial number
All the alarm data can be extracted securely and saved to a central location to be stored.
Once the system has been set up, information can be accessed securely from within or outside a property if access is an issue. Event logs can be retrieved as many times as necessary and for each alarm on the system, retrieving data such as how many direct button tests have been performed and when, any issues with the battery and/or mains supply, Carbon Monoxide (CO) levels detected if a CO alarm is in the system, Radio Frequency signal strength between alarms, age of alarms and any alarms removed.
Whole alarm system data extraction
Data extraction can take place again and again, building up a history of alarms systems in individual dwellings.

Future Proofing The 160e Series alarms are fully compatible with all other Ei Electronics alarms and accessories whether a system needs upgrading or an existing system needs expanding; and works with either hard-wired, RadioLINK or hybrid interconnecting systems. Expanding an existing hard-wired interconnect alarm system to RadioLINK+ is simple. By replacing just one alarm in the hard-wired system to a RadioLINK+ alarm, you can add other RadioLINK alarms and accessories, making it ever more flexible.
