Welcome to The Resort! Thank you for letting us be a part of your family vacation. My wife, Michelle, and I have owned The Resort for the last 14 years. We have been blessed with a very very large crazy family of 10 kids, all of whom have worked at The Resort in some capacity over those 14 years. We have come to realize, as we are down to the last of our children at home, IT GOES FAST!

From time to time people have asked what advice I would give to families just starting out, and my answer has always been the same: You only have 18 years with these kids, make the memories now that will last a lifetime. In the blink of an eye, those cherished family moments together will have passed.

Burger Bar

The Burger Bar, located next to the event center, offers a weekend treat. Shawnee Bluffs Canopy Tour

Illinoi’s first entirely tree-based zip line canopy tour, located on 83 wooded acres surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest. Shawnee Bluffs consists of eight zip lines, the longest more than 1,100 feet, which zig-zags across the proerty’s bluffs and through the valley. The tour also includes 11 platforms, 3 aerial suspension bridges, and three short ground hikes. A canopy tour is a the perfect way to experience the forest by safely traversing an established route of zip lines and aerial bridges between platforms built in the trees, and they are just plain FUN! A canopy tour delivers an adrenaline-filled adventure and educational experience!

Tunnel Hill Bike Trail

A dark railroad tunnel and two dozen trestles crossing streams and rocky ravines welcome visitors to the scenic Tunnel Hill State Trail as it travels 55 miles through forests and farmland in sparsely populated southern Illinois. This gem of Illinois rail-trails was built on the former Cairo and Vincennes Railroad, which was completed in 1874 and hauled coal from southern Illinois mines, as well as produce and timber. You can bring your own bikes or ebikes can be rented and waiting for you at the trail with shawneehillsebike.com.

Horseback Riding at Giant City Stables

Giant City Stables is located just inside Giant City State Park, nestled in the Shawnee National Forest, just minutes south of Carbondale. The Stable maintains approximately 30 horses of different types and breeds for your enjoyment. They have horses of all different levels and will match you with a horse that meets your needs. Trail rides are guided by experienced wranglers, who lead you through three plus miles of private trails in the heart of Giant City State Park.

We provide multiple accomodation options for your week long summer lake camp. Bring the whole family, and choose from our range of offerings, including cozy lakeside cabins with all the modern amenities, or RV sites with full hook-ups and a host of other fantastic features.

Cabins

We offer three cabin models to cater to families of all sizes. Every cabin features a fully equipped kitchen, full bath, living area, large deck with grill, and the added bonus of a boat slip for use during your stay.

• Single (Sleeps 6) $1,900 for 7 Nights

• Double (Sleeps 10) $2,500 for 7 Nights

• Family Lot (Sleeps 10) $2,500 for 7 Nights

RV Sites

Our RV sites are thoughtfully designed to make set-up a breeze. All RV sites include full water and sewer hook-ups, 50/30/20-Amp power, fire pit, picnic tables, and bathhouse. Our Premium and Super Premium sites include a concrete pad, Adirondack chairs, and patio area.
