TOMMY TIERNAN PADDY CRAZY HORSE

THE WATERBOYS

UL ORCHESTRA CHRISTMAS CONCERT

THE THREE AMIGOS

He rants and raves, he dances and acts. He tries to be very silly and very serious at the same time. He mixes a love of comic rebellion and a refusal to be conscripted into a rational view of the world with a deep grá for talking and the poetry of everyday speech. Using high theatricality and lots of dirty words, this is a fast paced and exuberant celebration of everything that’s wild, wrong and wonderful about being alive right here, right now. It is by turns clever and then really stupid.

In true Waterboys’ style, a spirit of exploration defines the album. Few bands have changed as much as this one. Formed in 1983, on their first three albums The Waterboys sculpted a layered post-punk sound, culminating in 1985’s sky-scraping This is the Sea. Since then the music has never ceased to evolve, from the hugely influential mix of Celtic folk, gospel, country and rock on the classic Fisherman’s Blues, to the New York guitar sounds of Dream Harder, the agitated Millennial sonic exploration of A Rock in the Weary Land, and the fired-up poetic passion of An Appointment with Mr Yeats.

The University of Limerick Orchestra are delighted to present their annual Christmas Concert for which they will be joined by Limerick Choral Union to perform Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man. The Orchestra will also perform works by Borodin and Auber.

Jimmy Buckley, Robert Mizell and Patrick Feeney have played a major part in the transformation of country music in Ireland. All three enjoy hugely successful solo careers and when they come together the chemistry and magic generated on stage is truly very special. This show continues to enthral audiences with a perfect mix of music, song and comedy. This tour will include tributes to the late Don Williams, Glen Campbell, Joe Dolan and Big Tom McBride.

Fresh from a sell-out tour, the star of BBC’s The Blame Game and Soft Border Patrol, Neil Delamere, returns to UCH with a brand new show. This time he thinks he has that whole “illusion of control” idea sussed. Then again he would think that, wouldn’t he? ‘You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more gifted comic at the Fringe’ ***** Scotsman  ‘One lean, mean, comedy, killing machine’ ***** Herald
