To whom it may concern, I know first hand what it takes to meet the demands of deadlines and also how to adapt to the changes that regularly occur in the design industry. I am constantly learning new processes and updating my skill set in order to be aware of these changes. I possess the skills necessary to be efficient and effective as a designer. Since 2005, I have worked as a Media Production Coordinator and freelance designer and consultant with Jackson State University and Insight Designs in Jackson, Mississippi. In these positions, I have worked with a variety of clients to design and create advertisements for various companies, promotional material for organizations such as The Fred Lewis Foundation, and client specific materials for different facets of the Jackson State University organization such as: The Career Services Department, Student Life, Community Service/Service Learning and WJSU 88.5 FM radio station. Through this interaction, I have realized the value of communication in translating a client's ideas into a visual product. As an events coordinator for the Black College Communications Association (BCCA) Annual HBCU Journalism Conference, I was part of a diverse team that organized one of the biggest journalism conferences for the Jackson area, bringing in top professionals from every arena of the craft. For the past eight years I have managed a staff of 30 student employees, set all deadlines and production schedules, trained employees in the art of fully operating a camera, proper composition of a photo, layout and design and photo editing, writing composition and copy editing, and mentored students pursuing a career in Journalism. I have overseen the production of and created the layout and design for 4 publications; The eXperience Magazine (A Bi‐annual Publication with over 3,000 subscribers), The Blue & White Flash Newspaper (A weekly publication with a circulation of over 8,000); The Jacksonian Yearbook (A yearly publication with over 3,000 subscribers); and The Office of Student Life Newsletter (A Bi‐annual Publication). I have also designed flyers, save the date cards, logos, websites, posters, programs and other promotional materials for the University along with creating marketing materials such as Advertising Pricing packages, press kits, blogs, and Social Media Sites as a facet of the Department of Marketing and Communications for Student Life. In my time as a professional I have learned that attention to detail, versatility and a “Can Do” attitude are essential to success in this field. I have won awards for my work from the Black College Communications Association (BCCA), the Mississippi Press Association and have been honored by the University with the Rising Star Award for excellence. I would love to translate that success into something special for YOUR COMPANY. My Bachelor of Science degree in graphic design, my Masters of Science degree in Mass Communications and my work experiences have taught me how to bring ideas to life on time and under budget. I would love the chance to apply the skills and knowledge I have gained to the position your company has available and would appreciate the chance to meet with you to discuss how I could be a vital part of your organization. Sincerely, Ernest F. Camel III
