Abstract Industrialization in architecture can be understood as “the possibility of applying industrial production processes to building systems”. Since the beginning of the 20th Century this has become a first row topic. In crisis periods is when industrial processes have been optimized and have evolved, opening new paths for rationalization, industrialization and prefabrication. The main aim of the present paper is to determine “industrialization degree” of building systems nowadays. It has been established the indicators that define industrialization in building systems. These are organized in six big groups: design, manufacturing, on-site assembly, marketing, maintenance and sustainability. All these parameters with their groups are collected in a matrix called “industrialization degree analysis” for building systems. This matrix is converted in an assessment software tool for building systems industrialization degree analysis. The methodology followed for industrialization degree analysis not only clarifies the meaning of industrialized building systems nowadays, but also shows future industrialized architecture opportunities.
