Chemical Reaction

Chemical reaction: When two or more substances with different properties combine and form a new substance having a unique property, this is called a chemical reaction

The substances which react are called reactants and a new substance formed called a product

In this equation A and B are reactants and C and D are the products The arrow shows the direction of a chemical reaction If there is any condition in the reaction, it is generally written above the arrow.

A chemical reaction involves a change in state, change in color, change in temperature, and evolution of gas

These are some changes that determine a chemical reaction has taken place:

● Digestion of food

● Formation of curd

● Rusting of Iron

● Respiration

Representation of Chemical Reaction

Sodium + Chloride → Sodium Chloride

Sodium and chloride are reactants and sodium chloride is a product. In this example, sodium and chloride both have different properties but after combining sodium and chloride with each other it will become sodium chloride which has completely different properties from the individual properties of sodium and chloride.

Types of Chemical Reaction:

● Combination reaction

● Decomposition reaction

● Displacement reaction

● Double displacement reaction

A + B → C + D

● Precipitation reaction

● Neutralization reaction

● Endothermic reaction

● Exothermic reaction

● Redox reaction
