Report of 47th EDSA Meeting The 47th EDSA meeting was held in Leeds, UK from 10-16th of April, 2011. We had 90 people present from almost 30 dental schools and 15 countries. Local Organizing Committee was so eager to provide us with perfect conditions for meeting and party time, and they really managed to make us feel most welcome. During the meeting, we had many great lecturers, such as P&G representatives, Colgate representatives and W&H representatives, and renowned guest speakers: Professor Andrew Collier Professor Monty Duggal Professor David Morris Professor Callum Youngson Our cooperation with IFMSA resulted with presence of Emmaline Brouwer who also held a presentation about IFMSA and possibilities of EDSA and IFMSA continuing cooperation. Our IFMSA guest also held workshop where all interested members could learn more about Project Management. We had Trade Faire with 10 companies presenting their products and offering students some interesting insights in new dental era. For the first time ever, EDSA had an ethics debate! We were debating about will of the patient, if it was absolute or not. We had a hot debate about it and thanks to debaters and EDSA members, it was one of the most interesting part of the whole meeting! And of course, big thank you to LOC who organized this debate and gave us new perspective in treating our patients. And we should all give loud cheers to our new members, Dental Association of Malta. During last few years, it has been shown that EDSA is expanding fast. That gives us hopes that someday soon, EDSA will gather ALL European dental schools. We’re working on it hard. Talking about new members, we had Dental Students Welfare Association of India joining us for presentation and probably soon to be EDSA partners. Rushil Dang and Ritesh Bhattacharjee flew across the world to join us and spread a word about DSWAI. When mentioning them, we can not miss mentioning students from Saudi Arabia also coming to see what is EDSA all about. Main new in EDSA was definitely new platinum partnership between EDSA in P&G as a result of a very fruitful collaboration on Prevention Program SM!LE! Imogen Bexfield and her team from Leeds have made a great pilot version of EDSA SM!LE and we hope that this program will continue to expand further and grow. It is a custom to say big thank you to all the members that in one period of their student time contributed EDSA by spending their time with us, helping EDSA grow and becoming our friends, so we voted for new alumni members: Andrew Sullivan, Plamen Nenkov, Janka Ohlas, Paolo Gallesi, Diana Craciun and Honorary Lifetime members: Emiliya Taneva and Brian O’Donovan. Also, discussions about EDSA projects and workgroups were held. EDSA magazine: A lot were disscused about financing the magazine and searching for the new opportunities for keeping it in paper version. Still, doubts were left about future of the 2011. issue. But we are continuing to make progress in financing the magazine and hoping that 2011. issue comes to our riders in paper, not just online version. EDSA Research: Introducing each other, and the Research Program Project: plans, prospectives, and previous work.Raising the question whether the universities (where ‘us’ EDSA students are enrolled) have a research faculty, and the possibility of having exchange students attending for the summer and get actively involved in a research project. EDSA Prevention: Everyone discussed success of our first SM!LE in Leeds with our new prevention officer, Imogen Bexfield. We were also discussing possibilities of new schools joining this year and ways to improve existing program.

EDSA Partnership: Although our Officer, Danilo Arsenijevic couldn’t joing us this time, we still had productive WG, talking about our current partners and ways to improve our relations with them. We also discussed new partners and ways to start collaborating with them. In Leeds we officially announced that EDSA have signed platinum partnership agreement with P&G and we are very proud of that fact.
