A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT AND CEO, Sherry Jordan As a community we all share the same challenges. We are faced with a growing, but somewhat fragile economy. As an advocate for local businesses and the community, the Edmond Chamber is uniquely positioned to assist in effectively facing our challenges. We are fortunate to have a large and diverse membership rich in experience and expertise. We draw support from a large base of volunteers who serve on our Board of Directors, committees and as Ambassadors. Our volunteers understand that our strength lies in our ability to work together and they are willing to contribute their time and talents to sustain a strong and dynamic Chamber that is vital to the Edmond business community. Our volunteers know that quality of life issues are vital to attracting employers and employees alike to Edmond to maintain a thriving local economy. I challenge you to GET INVOLVED. Becoming involved will engage you in addressing specific issues in your community through various programming and volunteer opportunities benefiting businesses, schools and individuals within each footprint. Participating in a chamber program or committee will expand your skill set and offer professional development. Let’s work together to improve our community and leave a legacy of sustainable careers and local treasures. Sincerely,

The fundraising event featured six local amateur celebrity dancers, paired with professionals from Dance Makers. Together, they spent months perfecting their routines to perform in front of 400+ members of the community. Along with the routines, the night featured a raffle drawing, dinner and drinks, and a wine and gift card pull. Celebrity dancers included (below, from left) Darin Kent, Olya Grimes, Adam Pugh, Victoria Caldwell, James Kerr and Michelle Keylon. Professional dancers included (below, from left) Sarah Pippenger, David Elliot, Elizabeth Wood, David Wood, Kinsey Marshall and Leon Selby. A special thanks to our guest judges Sarah

RESTORE & REVIVE Edmond Interior Designer Makes HGTV Pilot Story by Jordan Pettay, Chamber Intern, photos courtesy of A-Line

aige Sheller was born and raised in Oklahoma, so it only made sense to plant her interior design firm in the heart of downtown Edmond. Paige is the owner of A-Line Designs, a firm that specializes in both residential and commercial interiors, and who prides themselves in their unique approach to design. A-line has been successfully growing and serving the people of the Oklahoma City Metro since 2009 when the firm was founded. In Spring of 2016, A-Line's large success within commercial and residential design made the business a prospect for an HGTV series, Restore and Revive. Paige was initially skeptical that the formal e-mail may have been junk. However, after doing research on the validity of the production company, she was eager to be the lead designer and showcase her talents on air.

'It’s (Edmond) a great place to grow'! That is so very true! Throughout filming, Paige worked on restoring a historic house located in Mesta Park. After a nearly five-month filming process, the pilot was aired on August 19th, 2018. The show had great ratings and generated excitement and support throughout the Edmond community. From there, Paige and her team have continued to work hard and build momentum for future projects. “I feel like we are going through a growth spurt for home renovations and we are very excited about that,” Paige said. “It’s fun to be a part of that journey in people’s lives. They are doing something really big, building a home is a big step and it is an honor to be involved in that chapter of others’ lives.” A-Line Design has a firm foundation and its future is looking brighter than ever. The team is excited to continue expanding and designing within the community. Paige noted on raising both her family and business in Edmond, "As the sign says when you roll into town, 'it’s a great place to grow!' That is so very true!” To learn more about A-Line Design, visit

EDMOND MOBILE MEALS Story by Makenzie Shreve, Chamber Intern, photos courtesy of Edmond Mobile Meals

or many elderly residents who are unable to leave their home, receiving a hot meal can feed more than just their stomach.

On April 22, 1974 a group of neighbors saw a need in their community and partnered with local churches to serve meals to those in need. This group would continue to grow and later become known as Edmond Mobile Meals. Today, Edmond Mobile Meals delivers an average of 210 meals per week to the Edmond community. “Edmond Mobile Meals could not operate without the generous support of time and resources from the Edmond community. Our entire focus is caring for individuals in Edmond whose diminished mobility or resources make them unable to shop for food, prepare meals or stay connected with their community. By delivering a daily meal, a friendly visit and a safety check, Edmond Mobile Meals helps combat three of aging’s most harmful threats: inadequate nutrition, isolation and declining quality of life. We are so fortunate to live in a city that answers the growing need to care for their most vulnerable citizens,” said Edmond Mobile Meals Executive Director, Cristi Twenter. When the unexpected happens, it’s important to know where to go. OU Medical Center Edmond is just minutes away for Edmond and Guthrie residents. DOG FRIENDLY EDMOND Get your pup out of the house and into one of the many dog friendly businesses in town.

It’s no surprise that more and more Edmond businesses are becoming dog friendly. In fact, 70 percent of our Twitter followers say they’re more likely to visit a store or eat on a restaurant’s patio if they’re able to bring their dog. With businesses like Dogtopia opening their doors, it's clear that Edmond is working on a dog friendly status. With that being said, we thought our local dog lovers might benefit from a list of locations in town that welcome their pooch. Enjoy!

Need to grab a bite to eat? Taziki’s Mediterranean Grill has a spacious, fenced in patio with umbrellacovered seating. Interurban has a closed in patio as well, perfect for any night of the week. Down the street in the Bryant Shopping Center, both Zoe’s Kitchen and Cowboy Chicken offer outdoor seating. Flatire and The Garage both offer burgers and patio seating. Be sure to check their websites to find out which night of the week they host trivia.

Downtown offers several dog friendly stores like outdoor retailer Native Summit and home and clothing boutique Lulu and Lo’s. Each store even has a shop dog of their own! Say hi to Maggie (Lulu and Lo’s) and Jessie (Native Summit) next time you’re in. Also on Broadway, Othello's Italian Restaurant offers patio seating outside and half price pizza on Sundays, yes please! Citizens Bank of Edmond hosts Heard on Hurd once a month, March through October. The pet friendly street festival offers local music, food trucks and pop-up shops.

We can only assume dogs need retail therapy too. Plenty Mercantile not only welcomes furry friends, but also but sells leashes, pet beds, treats, toys and more. On the other side of town, A1 Pet Emporium sells all things dog and is passionate about educating their customers on healthy and all-natural pet foods.

Grab Lunch with Friends Once a month, Edmond Young Professionals (EYP) hosts Lunch Bunch, which is essentially casual conversations over good food. It's a great opportunity for new members to get plugged in and meet fellow young professionals in a laid back atmosphere. Sip and Be Inspired Leadership Latte is easily an EYP favorite. Every other month, the group meets at Oklahoma's Christian's quaint coffee shop, The Brew, to hear from prominent, local leaders. Whether it's Edmond Police Chief JD Younger or Retired Army Major Ed Pulido, participants always leave with great advice from difference makers in the community. Make A Difference When approached with volunteer requests, EYP always tries to step in where needed. From the Edmond Arts Festival to donating to the YWCA's Santa Store, EYP is committed to being a dependable resource for Edmond. Learn Something New Twice a year, EYP hosts educational luncheons to dicuss topics relevant to the group. In 2018, the luncheons covered changes in local goverment and public policy, as well as myths and facts regarding CBD and medical marijuana. Be a Role Model In January 2019, EYP is kicking off a new and improved mentor program which will pair young professionals with college juniors and seniors. Those interested in particpating should contact Brittany Willison at For more information, visit

ach year, the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce develops a Legislative Agenda to set priority goals relating to issues that directly impact our members. The agenda is split into the following categories: Economic Growth, Education, Transportation, and Federal Issues. Members are given the opportunity to express concerns through the Chamber or learn information directly from elected officials at Chamber events. Throughout 2018, we have held events such as the Legislative Reception for all of Oklahoma’s elected officals, a Membership Luncheon with Senator James Lankford, a Congressman Connection with Steve Russell, and more.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN DOING MORE FOR THE EDMOND BUSINESS COMMUNITY? JOIN THE CHAMBER’S GOVERNMENT RELATIONS COMMITTEE. The Edmond Chamber of Commerce’s Government Relations Committee enables the Chamber to foster and maintain important relationships with elected officials. The Government Relations Committee works to represent the legislative interests of business on local, state and national levels. This is done through a variety of efforts including candidate forums, legislative breakfasts and an annual trip to Washington D.C. to meet with state officials. This committee meets monthly to discuss both legislative and local issues that impact the Edmond community.

For more information about joining this committee, contact Sherry Jordan at
