Market Your Business Through the Chamber The Edmond Chamber’s 5th Annual Total Resource Campaign (TRC) kicked- off last month. The TRC is an organized three month campaign that encourages Chamber members to volunteer their time to help sell sponsorship and advertising opportunities and recruit new members. The annual campaign is the only time that the Chamber offers sponsorship opportunities to Chamber members, allowing businesses to plan their marketing budget, reach a high profile and make them aware of Chamber programs. Campaign volunteers will contact Chamber members from now until the middle of May to discuss marketing and advertising options. To find out how the Chamber can help you market your business, see pages 6-7. You will find a list of volunteers ready to answer your questions, along with more information on the sponsorships available.
The Elimination of the 3rd Herd at Tinker Affects Military Affair’s Council The Air Force announced on March 6th the elimination of the 3rd Combat Communications Group at Tinker Air Force Base. The unit consists of 600 military men and women and civilian Air Force personnel and is well known in Edmond as the 3rd Herd. The Edmond Chamber of Commerce and Military Affairs Council has supported the Herd for over 5 years and has built a strong relationship with the Unit. The 3rd Herd has participated in the Annual Auctions for the past few years, donating the popular ‘Combat Readiness Experience” which has been auctioned off twice at each Auction because of a tie bid! The Herd often attends the Chamber’s Membership Luncheons, Awards Banquets, Sporting Clays Tournaments and other annual events. Members of the Chamber’s Military Affairs Council also seek donations from local businesses each quarter to be able to present four (4) Airman, from the Unit, at each Quarterly Awards Luncheon held at Tinker Air Force Base. The Council also attends other annual events hosted by the Unit each year. At this month’s Council meeting, Col. Dave Babyak insured the Council that all personnel will be relocated within other departments of the Air Force and no one will be losing their job. The Edmond Chamber will also begin a new relationship with another department on base this upcoming summer to continue showing support of the Chamber and the Edmond community to the Tinker Air Force men and women.
