PLANK-ON! IS THE FORMAT THAT COMBINES FITNESS AND CULTURE WITH OUTDOOR EXERCISES AMONG THE CITY’S BEAUTIES Sport or art? Working out or admiring the beauties of the city? Now you no longer have to choose one, because these two activities are perfectly blended in a new kind of urban fitness that alternates running, power walking and tabata training (an intense type of cardiovascular training) while you tour around. The format is called Plank-on! and was created by the American sportswear brand of the same name whose slogan is “believe in your core” – believe in yourself and overcome your limits. The itinerary, ranging from five to ten kilometres, is interrupted by three fixed stations where functional exercises are performed, with a different trainer for each station. The first station is called BodyWake, and is based on muscular reactivation. The second, Urban Fepty Band, uses a rigid band to strengthen legs and arms. Finally, 3Kamp is a circuit where all three groups, simultaneously and in alternation, work to improve cardiovascular activity. While their muscles labour and their brow sweats, participants discover the beauties of buildings and monuments in the company of a guide who describes the territory. All in 90 minutes. The world tour of Plank-on! was kicked off in December 2016, in Rome, and it will end this November, in Milan. From 1 to 4 June, the format is at RiminiWellness: in its dedicated pavilion, instructors are demonstrating the routines usually performed outdoors. In addition, the Plank-on BYC Challenge takes place once a day, with participants challenging each other running, jumping and doing push-ups. The Plank-on! app will be presented at the trade show, to help users keep training in between stops of the world tour and monitor their own performance.
