Club Treat

This project was under the avenue of Task Force and it was held on the 17th of december. It was an antakshari game for school students. There were 3 rounds to decide which school had the best antakshari players. The first round was a normal antakshari game. There was a round where the students had to identify a hindi song based on the english version of its lyrics. It was a really nice project , encouraging more school students to join R.C.H.R.

Club treat was an event in the avenue of club service. It took place at khar gymkhana. Commencing at 7 30 it was a hell of an experience. Rock music, awesome ambience and the presence of a 100 R.C.H.R.ites made the party a successful one. The directors cut a cake to celebrate the completion of 5 months of the 26th G.B. in the club. It ended at around 12. A night to remember throughout your R.C.H.R. life.

Jingle All The Way While the world was celebrating the holiday season, R.C.H.R. took it upon themselves to spread some joy this Christmas. Jingle All The Way, a Community Service project, held on the 23rd and 24th of December, stands out as my favourite R.C.H.R. project till date. On the first day of J.A.T.W. (as we like to abbreviate it), all of us went to various orphanages, institutions for underprivileged kids and old age homes to spread the warmth and joy of Christmas, play some games and sing and dance with them. We covered around 25 institutions on Day 1 itself, ending with a Christmas Party at an institute in Chembur. But then came Day 2, which was the heart and soul of J.A.T.W. A joyride in the true sense of the word, Day 2 saw R.C.H.R. riding all around the city of Mumbai in an open top double decker bus spreading the fervour of Christmas all around the city! We covered seven major institutes on this day as well. After the event, the release of the November Edition of the R.O.B.O. by the Editorial team was the icing on the cake! The feeling of happiness and elation I felt during this project, bringing smiles on the faces of people, old and young alike, I will never forget. -Aakash Vasa

Christmas Party

RYLA

25th December, the day Jesus Christ was born, the day on which Santa Claus gives gifts, the day we celebrated Christmas Party with R.C.H.R. The venue was of this International Service project was the college terrace. There were many games like balloon balancing, dog and the bone in which the punishments were too challenging, poll dance and belly dancing. There was a game in which we had to mix the christmas carol in a hindi song. Altogether it was an awesome christmas with family, R.C.H.R.

2nd December 2011, the journey of a lifetime began at Mystic Valley Resort at Igatpuri. It was time for the International Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, RYLA. We had to perform many activities which helped us evolve the spirit of teamwork. We had exciting activities like rappling, firefox, valley crossing, and so on. There we learnt to fight our fears, work in a team and how to be responsible. This journey helped most of us bond very well and also make friends for life. This trip will always be etched in my mind as one of the best trips of my life. -Rtr.Parth Damani

RED Rotaract Entertainment Destination was a 2day fest organised by the R. I. District 3140 on the 10th and 11th of December at VJTI College in Matunga. The theme for this year was 'International'. Over these 2 days, RED saw the Zones of R. I. District 3140 battle it out for Supremacy in various Fine Arts, Literary Arts and Performing Arts events. One particular competition called Ground Quidditch, which was inspired by the sport made popular by the Harry Potter series truly managed to fire everybody up with some intense competition where Zone 2A emerged victorious. Mr. And Miss RED, the show-stopper event of RED, helped the participants gain a lot of exposure. Zone 2A, the zone that R.C.H.R. is a part of, stood second at RED and also bagged the prize for the Highest Contingent.

Creating pictures of monumental standards, editing them to a level above supreme and defining the very art of photoshop , is what we learnt on the 12th of December , 2011 at Cybermedia's very own project ' Create . Edit . Define ' The project saw more than 25 people coming in and learning the know-hows of Photoshop. The various techniques required to make different mailers were elaborately taught at the project, to each and every R.C.H.R.ite who attended the same . 'Truly a new and thrilling experience ' ,said one . ' Photoshop is absolutely mindblastic' , said another . The project ended with an announcement of Cybermedia's next project ' Whack It' and a mailer making competition for the same . The Cybermedia team truly did pass on the skills , which they possessed .

ED PICK Dance. One form of art which I truly feel can convey one too many emotions. It is truly fascinating how there are over 200 popular dance styles in this world. Having learnt Dance since I was six, it is one thing that is very close to me. Starting with performing at weddings I soon managed to give stage performances and that’s when it changed for me. The thunderous applause and the fact that I could perform there, alone and entertain so many people just made me feel so special. That’s when I developed the love for dance. Once I hear any beat anywhere, my feet just start tapping! Dance is one thing that takes your mind away from all the problems, gets you refreshed and rejuvenate. It does wonders to your confidence, grace and poise. No matter how tiring the day, an hour of dance just gets the mood goin. There is no better feeling than expressing one’s emotions through dance. Be it contemporary, jazz, classical or hip-hop-each form is beautiful and awe-inspiring in its own way! Expressing your emotion through art is not very easy, and once achieved you feel so great from with. The grace and skill required for it is what makes me fall in love with this art. You feel relieved of all the anger, frustration, and stress in life. I personally love to dance, be it a professional form of dance or street dancing during ‘Ganpati’ Contemporary is my favourite style as you can emote through it in innumerable ways and that style of dance is absolutely beautiful. The feeling that you get after dancing your heart out is just pure bliss. One motto that I follow and I feel everyone should- Dance as if no one’s watching. -Rtr. Ami Shah

R.C.H.R. Marilyn Monroe “I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.” -Marilyn Monroe The yesteryears American actress Marilyn Monroe was perhaps the

worlds most sought after at one point in her life. She was termed as a showgirl, actress, singer, dancer and a sex bomb. After her mother’s demise she was sent to a foster home as her father was unknown and she had no other living relatives. She got married to her neighbour’s son and began working in an airplane painting shop. There she was noticed by a magazine photographer. She then became a model and slowly progressed to movies. Her movie career saw many critics but also many fans. She had that carefree 'I give a damn attitude' which took people to get attracted towards her. She became the number one famous and sought after actress. She was then suggested the name Marilyn by one of her producers and she adapted to it. No doubt he too was captivated by her and her presence as he went on to make many more movies with her and married her too. The time period of 1948-1951 was extremely lucky for her. She used her sensuality and feminine powers to woo the audience which worked immensely in her favor. She was constantly questioned about her overtly sexual performances, some even termed as vulgar. But she always maintained that they were sensual and that they got her fans so what was the harm. It was said that her movies were extremely sexual and vulgar in the ending of her career. Probably this was due to the absence of company and the over usage of drugs. She became addicted to them. She died at a tender age of 36 years due to an overdose of a drug. In the short time that she was alive she captured many hearts and broke quite a few too. And the worst part was though there were thousands of mourners there was nobody to claim her body. But what is amazing is that in those years she managed to create such oomph and fame for herself. For a foster child with a troubled background this wasn't an easy task. Though she died a tragic death she is still remembered for her achievements and her sensuality. Being a feminist and believing that no female should go through anything extreme I must admit Monroe did something spectacular in her life. She showed war stricken widows a way to live life further . She made live them again through her movies , music and pictures. She was a person to whom the audience could connect to. Someone they could relate to. In those years to be doing what she was doing and being respected for it was something a few could achieve. But this lady did it and did it how! She took the whole world by storm and it will take generations to forget what a marvel she was. Her flying skirt picture is LEGENDARY and it is yet highly imitated but so far according to me no one has got it right. I'm sure that picture can be found in the rooms of many boys. She was a known fashion icon too with her tight gowns and revealing clothes. Many actresses like Madonna, Scarlet Johnson, Britney Spears have tried to imitate her but no avail. She has proven no one can beat her level and standard time and time again. -Smriti Vora

R.C.H.R. ROADS OF

YOU REVIEW

THE ODES

MASTER OF THE GAME

S

IDNEY SHELDON is the sixth bestselling writer of all times. He has written numerous world famous books like ‘RAGE OF ANGELS’ , ‘IF TOMORROW COMES’, ETC. The essence of his books is that he keeps the readers wanting for more. Every chapter ends with suspense and is constructed so well that when the reader gets to the end of a chapter, he or she has to read just one more chapter. The technique here is ‘ Leave the guy hanging on the edge of the cliff at the end of the chapter.’ His books are mostly female oriented the reason being that he loves showcasing powerful , talented , capable and yet beautifully sensuous women. Sidney Sheldon’s book ‘MASTER OF THE GAME’ is a class apart. Spanning six generations in the lives of the fictional MacGregor/Blackwell family, the critically acclaimed novel debuted at number one on the NEW YORK TIMES bestseller list and stayed on the list for more than 40 weeks. The story starts with Kate Blackwell's ninetieth birthday and then goes into a flashback of about 100 years. It shows 6 generations of a family creating and running the world famous Krueger-Brent diamond enterprise. It reveals how heartless a person can get for the successful running of a company and how money is used to fulfill every desire. Even love has a secret ruthless motive behind it. It portrays the strength of Kate Blackwell who rises from death and revenge fills the pages of this book. It is a MUST READ and a strongly recommended intriguing novel for every person and will keep you wanting for more till the end.

LIFE There are so many answers to So many questions , So many things that one can't mention, So many times when one can't explain, Why they feel happy , why their in pain? There are so many things to see in this world So many griefs for one to hold , So many reasons that need to be given, So many lies that need to be forgiven . Past , just another page, that is just waiting to be turned . Life , just another lesson , that is waiting to be learnt . A fire inside each of us , that is waiting to be burnt . Life and death are two sides of the same coin. Life can be long like a line or as short as a point. Yes , life is too short to regret the things you've said , So push away all regrets , regret after you are dead ! Do not define life as the act of staying alive Life is living each moment like tonight's your final night!
