en torno al arte y la pandemia

Edith Monge Silva Resulta muy gratificante compartir la generosidad del espacio artístico con sus hacedores. El diálogo que se genera en encuentros como este Segundo Seminario y Publicación Silabario. Imágenes y palabras, que forma parte del programa de Hispafest para el año 2020, propicia nexos que trascienden lo meramente cultural dando lugar también a reflexiones en torno a la experiencia vital que nos anima como individuos. Estos tiempos de crisis que hemos tenido que afrontar, nos alientan a imaginar nuevas formas de ser y de hacer y nos obligan al escrutinio de nuestras propias posibilidades como organización que busca generar un impacto a través del arte, en las personas y en las comunidades a las que pertenecen. Si hacer arte es importante en tiempos de serena convivencia, esta actividad se convierte en vital cuando las circunstancias son adversas y las estructuras referenciales que le dan soporte a nuestra existencia cambian radicalmente. Ya no resulta retórico afirmar que somos una sociedad enferma. Que las fortalezas humanas no son tales y que la letalidad de un virus como el COVID-19 se incrementa porque el espíritu ha quedado rezagado frente a la voracidad de una cultura individualista, metalizada y violenta.

El arte como genuino instrumento de evolución, nos lleva a repensar el lugar impreciso que sigue teniendo en el entramado social, guiado por principios de rentabilidad económica que no cuantifica las bondades productivas inherentes a una sociedad donde se privilegie el conocimiento del otro, el respeto a las diferencias, el aprecio por el equilibrio y la belleza. Los artistas son idealistas, impregnan de sueños su trabajo obligándonos a soñar. Son críticos activos que reflejan en sus obras realidades ineludibles. Son sanadores que, en tiempos de cuarentena, de dolor y pérdida, nos muestran la belleza del acto creativo, devolviéndonos la sonrisa que lleva aparejada la salud mental. Eso hace el arte en aras de la preservación del ser humano, le permite desviar su mirada de la muerte remontándola hacia la vida. Ojalá en tiempos futuros las representaciones artísticas de este momento reflejen un verdadero cambio y no solo un paréntesis. Confiamos en el poder autocrítico de las instituciones y en su capacidad de redirigir sus intereses a favor del arte en sus múltiples expresiones. En Hispafest confiamos igualmente en continuar nuestro proceso de crecimiento con el apoyo de instituciones como MIFA y la solidaridad de nuestros aliados y amigos

Reflections

on art and the pandemic

Edith Monge Silva It is very gratifying to share the generosity of the artistic space with its makers. The dialogue generated in gatherings such as this Second Seminar and Syllabary Publication. Images and words, part of the Hispafest program for the year 2020, foster connections that transcend the merely cultural, giving way to the path towards reflections on life experiences that enliven us as individuals. These times of crisis that we have had to face, encourage us to imagine new ways of being and doing, and force us to scrutinize our own possibilities as an organization that seeks to make an impact, through art, in people and communities where we belong. If the action of developing art is important in times of serene coexistence, this pursuit becomes vital when circumstances are adverse, and the referential structures that support our existence change radically. It is no longer rhetorical to say that we are an ailing society. That human strengths are not such, and that the lethality of a virus like COVID-19 is increased, because the spirit has lagged behind the voracity of an individualistic, monetary and violent culture.

Art as a genuine instrument of evolution, leads us to rethink the imprecise place it continues to have in the social fabric, guided by principles of economic profitability that do not quantify the productive benefits, inherent in a society, where knowledge of the other is privileged, tolerance towards differences, an appreciation for balance and beauty. The artists are idealists; they impregnate their work with dreams, forcing us to dream. They are active critics, who reflect in their works, inescapable realities. They are healers who, in times of quarantine, pain and loss, immerse us in the beauty of the creative act, giving us back the smile that comes with peace of mind. This turns art in favor of the preservation of the human species, allowing the diversion of our gaze from death, back to life. Hopefully, in future times, the artistic representations of this moment, will reflect a real change and not just a parenthesis. We trust in the auto-critical power of institutions and their ability to redirect their interests in favor of art, in its multiple expressions. At Hispafest, we also trust in continuing our growth process, with the support of institutions such as MIFA and the solidarity of our allies and friends.

¡Cómo describir lo que representa este proyecto para todo el equipo de Hispafest y para mí en especial!

El Festival de Arte y Cultura Hispanoamericano se enorgullece de presentar este segundo libro “Silabarios. Entre imágenes y palabras”, que materializa las reflexiones de 15 artistas con raíces hispanas, participantes en el “Seminario y publicación: ejercicios de escritura y visualización”. La edición de este libro ratifica nuestro compromiso de continuar apoyando el crecimiento y la difusión del arte aún en esta época de pandemia. Es maravilloso formar parte de un grupo que camina armoniosamente movido por una misma convicción: la de unirnos en torno al arte como comunidades hispanas orgullosas de nuestras culturas, al igual que fomentar el sentido de pertenencia en este nuevo y noble país que compartimos todos. Este equipo esta conformado por la periodista, escritora y sobre todo amiga, Edith Monge Silva con quien comenzamos esta cruzada queriendo abrir espacios y una vía de apoyo a nuestros artistas, el maestro curador Félix Suazo con un profesionalismo impecable y la mayor disposición a sembrar y educar, finalmente, un talentoso grupo de artistas colaboradores, Rafa Muci, Marco Caridad, Isaac Bencid, Carlos Martínez, cada uno con una destreza muy especial, quienes junto a nuestros aliados de la academia MIFA, Miami International Fine Art, brindan el soporte necesario para la realización de nuestros programas.

No es fácil ni para los más entendidos en el tema. Solo se que crecí con los Avilas al óleo que solía pintar mi papá, un inmigrante que llegó del Líbano su tierra natal, a Caracas, Venezuela, y a sus 12 años se sintió abrazado por ese valle que lo rodeaba y le brindaba cobĳo para empezar una nueva vida... Nunca ha dejado de pintar la calidez de esa montaña y hasta ahora entiendo los inexplicables cielos en gama de color rosa... siento que es el anhelo de su país de origen, junto a este maravilloso paisaje de su realidad actual, que le hace mezclar de esa manera tan dulce la paleta de colores. Ahora como inmigrante mi percepción y la interpretación de sus obras han cambiado el sentido. El arte es una fuerza que tiene el poder de permitirnos expresar nuestras emociones, compartirlas y vivirlas. En estos tiempos de distanciamiento debido a la pandemia mundial del Covid-19 ha sido el recurso utilizado por muchos para sobrellevar la distancia, el desasosiego del confinamiento y la incertidumbre del futuro. La historia de la humanidad ha sido plasmada en grandes obras de arte que nos confirman su importancia a través de todos los tiempos. Es por ende de vital importancia, darle el valor que le corresponde en nuestra sociedad y brindarle el apoyo necesario para que sigamos creciendo como seres evolucionados y pensantes. No podemos satisfacer solo las necesidades básicas sin alimentar el alma,

The Inquestionable Importance of art and culture Nubia Abaji How to put into words the importance of art and culture throughout these times? How to describe what this project means for the Hispafest Team, and especially for me? Not an easy task, even for those more versed in the subject. I remember growing up with the oil Avilas my father used to paint, an immigrant from Lebanon, his native land, who at the age of 12 arrived in Caracas, Venezuela, and felt embraced by a valley that surrounded him, providing shelter to start a new life ... He has never stopped painting the warmth of the mountain, it is until now, that I understand the inexplicable skies in shades of pink ... I feel it is the longing for his country of origin, together with the wonderful landscape of his current reality, that allows him the mix a delightful color palette. Now, as an immigrant, my perception and interpretation of his works, have changed in meaning. Art is a force. It gives us power to express our emotions, share them, live them. The global Covid-19 pandemic has created a time of distancing and art has been the resource, used by man, to overcome the distance, the uneasiness of confinement, and the uncertainty of the future. Our history, the history of men, has been captured in master works of art which confirm its importance throughout the ages. It is, therefore, of vital importance, to grant its corresponding value to our society, and to provide the necessary support, so that we may continue to grow as evolved thinking beings. We cannot satisfy our basic needs without feeding the soul, even more so, when the challenge deserves to be in perfect harmony, body, soul and environment.

The Hispanic-American art and culture festival is proud to present this second book “Silabarios. Between Images and Words ”, which materializes the reflections of 15 artists with Hispanic roots, participants in the "Seminar and publication: writing and visualization exercises". The edition of this book confirms our commitment to continue supporting the growth and spread of art even in this time of pandemic. It is wonderful to be part of a group that walks harmoniously moved by the same conviction, to unite around art as Hispanic communities proud of our cultures, as well as to foster a sense of belonging in this new and noble country that we all share. This team is made up of the journalist and writer and, above all else, friend, Edith Monge Silva, with whom we started this quest seeking aperture and funding for our artists, in these efforts, master curator Félix Suazo, with impeccable professionalism and the greatest willingness to groom and educate, becomes part of this project, Additionally, a gifted group of collaborating artists comprised by, Dorian Hung, Rafa Muci, Marco Caridad, Isaac Bencid, Carlos Martínez, each one with a very special skill, who together with our allies from the MIFA academy, Miami International Fine Art, provide the necessary assistance to see our programs through. In order to ensure the permanence of this platform Hispafest - El Festival de Arte y Cultura Hispanoamericano. we hope to continue counting with the participation and support of Florida’s Cultural Institutions, as that of our allies and friends, gathered around the #Miamiartstrong campaign.

Entre imágenes y palabras

Félix Suazo Silabarios. Entre imágenes y palabras reúne las proposiciones de 15 artistas que se integraron a la convocatoria del Segundo Seminario y Publicación organizado por Hispafest en alianza con MIFA, durante los meses de junio y julio de 2020. Durante cuatro intensas semanas los participantes realizaron ejercicios de lectura, escritura y visualización que permitieron explorar las posibilidades conceptuales y estéticas de sus trabajos en una atmósfera reflexiva. La experiencia condujo al conjunto de imágenes y meditaciones que se compilan en esta publicación a modo de bitácora libre, en la cual cada autor aporta su propio enfoque y criterio. Imágenes y palabras como componentes de un lenguaje híbrido, ajeno a la verbalización literal y saturado de resonancias, construyen un espacio permeable a veces evocativo, en ocasiones alegórico pero siempre cargado de sentido. La naturaleza, la subjetividad, los mitos, la memoria y el presente conforman el repertorio de inquietudes que se cruzan en esta tentativa plural a la que concurren indagaciones en medios tan diversos como la fotografía, la pintura, el dibujo, la instalación y la gráfica digital. Se trata de un breve compendio de búsquedas, ubicado en el doble contorno que delinean las palabras y las imágenes en el vasto horizonte de lo sensible; precisamente el ámbito al cual ingresan promisoriamente los protagonistas de esta publicación.

Nathalia, Leti, Vero y Jimena desarrollan una cartografía personal del paisaje (fluvial, marino, etc.), en una atmósfera de austeridad cromática y compositiva. Milixa, Claudia y Tere se adentran en la idea de la feminidad, tocando lo arquetipal, lo psíquico y lo cultural. Salvador, Dalia, Rafa y Marco se mueven entre la autorreferencialidad y la introspección, utilizando la obra como una plataforma especular donde el “yo” revela su perfil caleidoscópico. Maru y Marie confrontan valores de convivencia y mejoramiento como alternativa a la intransigencia. Isaac y Geraldine ofrecen dos ópticas en mutación, ya sea la idea del cambio como forma de existencia o el desplazamiento entre un lenguaje y otro. Queda en estas páginas el testimonio de un proceso compartido —tan complejo como esclarecedor— que desafió las duras restricciones impuestas por la pandemia del COVID-19, mostrando que el arte es un potente antídoto cuando se trata de conjurar las secuelas de una época incierta. Efectivamente, los hechos no se pueden negar o modificar, pero sí se puede cambiar la manera en que los percibimos y encaramos. Silabarios, en cuanto iniciativa de formación y divulgación artística, ofrece otras miradas donde la experiencia sensible irradia connotaciones más amables e intelectualmente sustanciosas sobre el mundo que habitamos.

Syllabaries.

Between images and words

FĂŠlix Suazo Syllabaries. Between images and words, brings together the proposals of 15 artists who attended the call for the Second Seminar and Publication organized by Hispafest in partnership with MIFA, during the months of June and July 2020.Throughout these intense four weeks, the participants carried out reading, writing and visualization exercises that allowed exploring the conceptual and aesthetic possibilities of their work in a reflective atmosphere. The experience led to the set of images and meditations that are compiled in this publication, as an open journal, in which each author contributes with their personal approach and criteria. Images and words as components of a hybrid language, oblivious to literal verbalization and saturated with resonances, build a permeable space sometimes evocative, sometimes allegorical - but always charged with meaning. Nature, subjectivity, myths, memory and the present make up the repertoire of concerns that intersect in this plural attempt that involves inquiries in media as diverse as photography, painting, drawing, installation and digital graphics. It is a brief compendium of interests, located in the double contour that delineate words and images through the vast horizon of the sensible; precisely the area, into which the protagonists of this publication, promisingly enter.

Nathalia, Leti, Vero and Jimena develop a personal cartography of the landscape (river, sea, etc.), in an atmosphere of chromatic and compositional austerity. Milixa, Claudia and Tere delve into the idea of femininity, touching on the archetypal, the psychic and the cultural. Salvador, Dalia, Rafa and Marco move between self-reference and introspection, using the work as a specular platform where the "Id" reveals its kaleidoscopic profile. Maru and Marie confront values of coexistence and improvement as an alternative to intransigence. Isaac and Geraldine offer two visions in mutation, either the idea of change as a form of existence or the displacement between one language and another. In these pages is the testimony of a shared process as complex as it is illuminating - that challenged the difficult restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, showing that art is a powerful antidote when it comes to conjuring the aftermath of an uncertain time. Indeed, the facts cannot be denied or modified, but the way we perceive and face them can be changed. Sillabaries, as an artistic formation and dissemination initiative, offers other glances where the sensitive experience radiates kinder and intellectually rich connotations about the world we inhabit.

Echoes of the Life Within

Volteé la mirada a mi interior abrazando la incertidumbre, en busca de un refugio seguro para mi mente, alma y corazón. Convertí mi cuerpo en el vehículo que pudiese ser capaz de transmitir mis sensaciones y emociones visualmente. Llevar mi fotografía a otro nivel a través de mis primeros autorretratos, me confirmó una vez más, el poder sanador y transformador de hacer lo que se ama.

I turned my gaze within myself embracing the uncertainty, in search of a safe haven for my mind, heart and soul. Treating my body as a carrier was an attempt to be able to transmit my feelings and emotions visually. Taking my photography to a different level through my first self-portraits, confirmed me once again the healing and transformative power of doing what you love.

Artista visual venezolana, trabaja entre Miami y Caracas. Comienza a fotografiar desde temprana edad en París y más tarde estudia en la Academia de Arte de San Francisco, California. Utiliza la fotografía como vehículo de expresión personal. En su obra hay una visión poética íntima de la belleza y la tragedia que le da un profundo significado a la vida en su constante cambio y continua expansión. Autora de Ephemeral Beauty, un libro de fotografía que utiliza flores como conducto para interpretar la metáfora de la vida.

Venezuelan visual artist, works between Miami and Caracas. Claudia began photographing from an early age in Paris and later studied at the San Francisco Academy of Art, California.Claudia uses photography as a vehicle for personal expression. In her work there is an intimate poetic vision of beauty and tragedy that gives a deep meaning to life in its constant change and continuous expansion. Claudia is the author of Ephemeral Beauty, a photography book that uses flowers as a conduit to interpret the metaphor of life.

Es un llamado muy arraigado en mi alma. Ellas me llevan por un recorrido a través del tiempo y me hacen sentir parte de la cadena del universo. A medida que voy pintando, cada Menina cobra vida y su propia personalidad emerge sobre el lienzo, marcando una huella indeleble que perpetúa el legado del mensaje infinito de Velázquez.

Is a deep call within my soul. They have the power to carry me through time where I feel part of weave of the Universal chain. As I begin painting, each Menina adopts her personality and comes alive on the canvas leaving thus, an indelible imprint that perpetuates Velazquez’s legacy and its infinite message.

Diseñadora de interiores y artista visual. Nace en Madrid, España en 1966. Licenciada en diseño de interiores del Instituto de Arte de Dallas, Texas. Desde 1987 trabaja en el campo del interiorismo al frente de su propia firma Berlin Designs Corp. En el año 2016 comienza a pintar y experimentar con varias técnicas de collage, acrílicos y óleos. Su tema central se basa en perpetuar el legado de la magia de Las Meninas de Diego Velázquez como ícono universal.

Interior designer and visual artist, born in Madrid, Spain in 1966. Licensed as an interior designer from the Art Institute of Dallas, Texas, has led her own firm Berlin Designs Corp., since 1987. In 2016 she begins her career as a visual artist and begins an extensive search with various medias, oils, acrylics and collage. Her main theme is a quest to perpetuate the legacy of the magic of Las Meninas by Diego Velazquez as a universal icon.

Experiencias palpables a través de los sentidos, que son abstraídos de un solo universo biodiverso interno, irrepetible, subjetivo, tan íntimo, que solo un amor absoluto puede llenar y entender nuestras más profundas rarezas. Donde los recuerdos no son nostálgicos sino vivientes, despertando el sentimiento que conmueve la conciencia y el corazón, lo malo y lo bueno, donde yace todo un espacio paralelo de un estado del alma y espíritu.

Experiences palpable through the senses, which are abstracted from a single internal biodiverse universe, unrepeatable, subjective, so intimate that only absolute love can fill and understand our deepest oddities. Where the memories are not nostalgic but living, awakening the feeling that moves the conscience and the heart, the bad and the good, where a whole parallel space of a state of soul and spirit lies.

Artista visual colombiana, nació el 31 de julio de 1995, en Bogotá. Realizó sus estudios de arte en la Fundación Universitaria Bellas Artes Medellín, Colombia. Certificada en relaciones públicas, protocolo y etiqueta en la Universidad San Buenaventura, Colombia.

Isaac Bencid ¿Dónde está el cambio? ¿En el objeto observado o en la mente del observador? La obra se multiplica en sí misma constantemente según la miremos; las luces, su propia forma refleja en el espectador esa oportunidad de convertirse en lo que está destinado a ser. La obra puedo ser yo mismo con infinidades de formas, profundidad y colores. Cuando cambio (o no) sigo siendo yo pero el observador siempre percibirá un cambio, una evolución.

Where is the change? In the object itself or the viewer's mind? The artwork multiplies constantly depending on the point of view, the light, and its shape and reflects in the spectator the opportunity of turning itself in what it is meant to be. I may be the work with an infinitude of shapes, forms, and colors. When I change (or not), I am. However, the observer always will perceive a change, an evolution.

Isaac Bencid (03/18/1977), director y productor audiovisual, desde 2017 ha venido investigando el arte cinético y geométrico con una propuesta basada en la trama tridimensional que logra a través de mallas metálicas, colores y movimiento, donde los dobleces del material y las formas en que los trabaja, hacen que la obra se multiplique en sí misma creando profundidades, brillos e ilusión en el momento visual. Después de estudiar Comunicación Social mención audiovisual, crea, junto con otros socios, la productora Fenix Media en el año 2004, y en 2014 realiza su primer documental de arte al Maestro Ángel Hurtado quien se convierte en su mentor en el documental y en el arte pictórico. A partir de ahí, realiza muchos cortos documentales sobre los maestros en Venezuela para promover su obra y dejar un legado.

Isaac Bencid (03/18/1977), director and audiovisual producer. Since 2017 he has been investigating kinetic and geometric art with a proposal based on the threedimensional plot that he achieves through metal meshes, colors, and movement. The foldings of the material and how he works it, create an artwork that multiplies by itself creating depths, brightness, and illusion in the visual moment. After studying Mass Communication, he created Fenix Media, among other partners in 2004, and in 2014 he made his first art documentary to Ángel Hurtado who became his master in documentary and pictorial art. From there, he has made many documentary short films about art masters in Venezuela to promote their work and leave a legacy.

Jimena Gutiérrez Bisbal nace en Perú, 1981. Diseñadora Gráfica de profesión trabaja en publicidad hasta que decide ir a estudiar pintura en Roma, Italia. Obtiene una beca en la Rome University of Fine Arts bajo la tutela del maestro Tullio Di Franco. Vive en Italia del 2002 al 2007. Después de esos años de formación y trabajo en Roma se muda a Chile donde reside 8 años y empieza a desarrollar una especialización en retratos al óleo e incursiona en la pedagogía artística. A finales del 2016 se traslada a Miami donde reside actualmente. En esta última etapa empieza a experimentar con nuevas técnicas y materiales explorando el arte abstracto.

Studied Graphic Design and worked in advertising.Earned a scholarship in the Rome University of fine Arts and have ‘Maestro’ Tullio Di Franco, an Italian outstanding artist as a teacher. En mi arte uso mucho la intuición para llamar a un diálogo y a una relación íntima con las formas y colores de la naturaleza. Expreso con esto distintos estados de ánimo, sentimientos y sensaciones profundas… En la perfección de la naturaleza hay una pureza e ingenuidad que relaciono con nuestro nacimiento a través de una intensa y sincera vivencia de las diferentes etapas de nuestra vida. Observando nuestros matices y claroscuros surge la evolución que nos da la claridad para reconocer nuestra verdad y aceptar nuestra esencia. Creo que como seres humanos eso es lo que todos anhelamos.

In my art I use intuition a lot to call for a dialogue and an intimate relationship with the shapes and colors of nature. I express with this different moods, feelings and deep sensations… In the perfection of nature there is a purity and ingenuity that I relate to our birth through an intense and sincere experience of the different stages of our life. Observing our nuances and chiaroscuro, evolution arises that gives us clarity to recognize our truth and accept our essence. I think that as human beings that is what we all long for.

Nació en Caracas, Venezuela y reside en Miami desde el 2011. Graduada en Diseño Gráfico y Fotografía en la Universidad de Bridgeport en Connecticut, USA. Cursó estudios en Parson School of Design y en International Center of Photography en la ciudad de Nueva York y fue alumna del fotógrafo Art Wolfe en Oregon. Luego ayudó a varios fotógrafos, incluida Elizabeth Opalenik, y su trabajo en fotografía infrarroja se incluyó en uno de los libros del conocido fotógrafo venezolano J.J Castro.

Leti Capriles is a Venezuelan artist living in Miami since 2011. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Photography from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. She took courses at Parsons School of Design, at the International Center of Photography both in New York City and most recently with photographer Art Wolfe in Oregon. She then assisted various photographers including Elizabeth Opalenik, and her work in Infrared Photography was included in one of well-known Venezuelan photographer J.J Castro’s books.

Licenciado en Diseño Gráfico, por la Universidad del Zulia. Estudió arte en el Centro de Bellas Artes de Maracaibo y en la Escuela de Arte Neptalí Rincón. Presentó performances en el Ateneo de Caracas. Fue profesor de la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, y artista infógrafo en la Cadena Capriles. En 2011 se traslada a Miami, donde reside actualmente. Ha realizado proyectos de dirección de arte para Lenny Kravitz, Miami City Ballet, y Hard Rock International, entre otros.

There will never be a revolution without the evolution of consciousness. The change we want for the causes that matter to us must go beyond apparent support. Beyond publicly defending a known problem, we must do what is within our reach to educate ourselves and change our mentality and that of those who are part of our environment. We all have the power to create awareness in our daily lives.

Artista visual venezolana, nace en Caracas en el año 2000. Estudia arte en Miami International Fine Arts, MIFA, en Miami, Florida. La obra de Marie aborda el tema de los problemas sociales y ofrece una íntima visión en torno al racismo, el feminismo y las crisis humanitarias alrededor del mundo. Su trabajo artístico le sirve de vehículo para la recaudación de fondos destinados a diferentes causas.

I don't want to hide my face or defend my anonymity, I want to recognize that invisible connection between what I am and what I do. Estudios de Arte en la Escuela Giovanni Batista Scalabrini de Valencia y graduada de la Academia Angel de Florencia Italia. También recibe 3 años prácticos de la Scuela Libera del Nudo de la Academia di Belli Arti di Firenze. En el 2013 se traslada a Miami y funda con su esposo Chiaroscuro Atelier que luego de 5 años se convierte en MIFA Miami. (Miami International Fine Art).

Vivo en una isla, rodeada de mar. Trabajo de manera lírica la inmensidad y riqueza de las aguas, haciendo evidente su sinergia con la naturaleza. Propongo intensificar el poder de las transparencias y reflejos de los océanos desde abajo del agua o de manera aérea para que el espectador se sumerja y flote en un paisaje de ensueño y fluidos sin forma, dinámicamente expuestos. Estas imágenes se proyectan como espejos de energías interiores y exteriores, reflejo de mi amor por la naturaleza.

I live on an island, surrounded by the sea. I work in a lyrical way the immensity and richness of the waters, making evident its synergy with nature. I propose to intensify the power of the transparencies and reflections of the oceans from below the water or from an aerial way so that the viewer immerses himself and floats in a dreamy landscape and formless fluids, dynamically exposed. These images are projected as mirrors of interior and exterior energies, a reflection of my love for nature.

Nacida en Lima, Perú, a los 3 años se mudó a Los Ángeles y posteriormente regresó a su país para encontrarse con sus raíces. Estudió cine y televisión y su ojo periodístico la llevó a interesarse por la fotografía callejera y los temas sociales. Trabajó como directora creativa durante 10 años hasta que se mudó a las Bahamas durante 14 años y su fotografía se centró en la naturaleza. Ella crea conciencia en sus obras mostrando su amor por el medio ambiente y su pasión por los océanos. Ha viajado mucho por todo el mundo, escribiendo y fotografiando tanto por comisión como para proyectos personales.

Born in Lima, Peru, at the age of 3 she moved to Los Angeles and later returned to her country to find her roots. She studied film and television and her journalistic eye led her to become interested in street photography and social issues. She worked as a creative director for 10 years until she moved to the Bahamas for 14 years and her photography focused on nature. She creates awareness in her works by showing her love for the environment and her passion for the oceans. She has traveled extensively around the world, writing and photographing for both commission and personal projects.

No sé si soy yo, lo cuestiono siempre, fue el capricho de otro, un sistema de identificación... mi nombre es el resumen de otra historia, aquella que es pública, asociada con un conjunto de letras que resumen 54 años de vida, pero ese no soy yo, pues ese grafismo no está en el espejo que refleja mi imagen, sin embargo, mi imagen pretende ser ese grafismo, absoluto, perceptible e identificable... es aquello que personifica, espejismo de carne y hueso que procura dar significado, un contenido ajeno a todo, que pretende ser nombre...

I don't know if it's me, I always question it, it was someone else whim, an identification system... my name is the summary of another story, one that is public, associated with a set of letters that summarize 54 years of life, but that is not me, because that graphism is not in the mirror reflecting my image, yet my image pretends to be that graphism, absolute, perceptible and identifiable... it is that which personifies, a mirage of flesh and blood that tries to give meaning, a content foreign to everything, pretending to be a name…

Actualmente reside en Miami, Florida.

Explosión de color espontáneo. Siempre estoy flotando naturalmente en el universo abstracto, donde colores, composiciones y trazos de energía fluyen de mi ser, creando reflejos de mi energía en colorida poesía. Cada color es un viaje, un drama, una personalidad, una energía diferente. Ciego, me pierdo completamente en cada uno de ellos y solo siento. Por un lado el pintor de visión que siente la energía por un trazo o color, y por el otro, el bailarín acrobático que experimenta la intensidad del color como energía física. De vez en cuando, la musa me visita dejándome chispas de visiones como cuando la mirada delirante de Dalí penetra y me dice, ahora estás listo para abrir todas las puertas y conectar todos los universos del alma y dejar tu marca LLOBET.

Espontaneous color explosión. I am always naturally floating in the abstract universe, where colors, compositions, and strokes of energy flow right out of me, creating reflections of my energy in color poetry. Every color is a journey, a drama, a personality, a different energy. Completely blindly lost in every single color I only feel. From one side the visual painter feels the energy by a stroke or a color, and in the other, the acrobatic dancer that experiences the intensity of color through physical energy. At times inspiration visits me, leaving me with sparks of visions like when Dalí’s look of madness penetrates deep and tells me, you are now ready to open all the doors and connect all the universes of the soul and leave your mark LLOBET.

Artista visual. Juan Salvador LLOBET, nace en Valencia, Venezuela en 1978. Becado por Miami Dade Community College para el programa de arte. Ha realizado comisiones y pintura en vivo para compañías como McDonalds, Microsoft, Seminole Hard Rock casinos, The Venetian Casinos en Las Vegas y China, Disney, Universal Studios, The Miami Heat, Orlando Magic.

The “Palenquera”

La flor de la muralla, así se siente. Camina orgullosa por sus dominios bajo el sol inclemente de Cartagena que arranca destellos irisados a su piel africana, sus vestidos de alegres colores ondulando como complemento puro a las luminosas calles históricas. Con la frente en alto y la sonrisa pronta, parece haber olvidado siglos de brutal sometimiento. Ahora es libre, ha luchado por su libertad con fortaleza inexorable, mas sigue librando una gran batalla, ya no por sobrevivir, sino por vivir.

The flower of the walled city, that’s how she feels. Proudly walks under the blazing sun in Cartagena, which pulls iridescent flashes from her African skin, her attire of cheerful colors waving as pure complement to the luminous historical streets. With the head high and ready smile, she seems to have forgotten centuries of brutal subjugation. She is free now, has fought for her freedom with relentless strength, yet still continues to strive a great battle, not just to survive, but to live.

Artista visual, nacida en Barranquilla, Colombia. Graduada de Ingenierio Industrial en la Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla), emigrada a EE.UU. en diciembre de 1979. A partir del año 2010 decide dedicar más tiempo a su arte y empieza a tomar talleres sobre retrato y figura en diferentes ciudades de Europa, particularmente en Florencia donde estudió varios cursos de verano en Florence Academy y Angel Academy. En el 2017 comienza a estudiar localmente en Chiaroscuro, Academia de Arte Realista, que es hoy en día MIFA (Miami International Fine Arts) en la cual ejerce funciones como presidente.

Visual artist, born in Barranquilla, Colombia, bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla), emigrated to United States in December 1979. From 2010 decides to dedicate more time to her art and starts to take workshops on portrait and figure painting in different cities in Europe, mainly in Florence where she did summer courses in Florence Academy and Angel Academy. In 2017 starts to study locally at Chiaroscuro, a realistic academy of art, which is today MIFA (Miami International Fine Arts) where she works as President.

Vero Murphy El paisaje me invade, me transforma, se apodera de mí. Ya no visto los mismos colores, ya no ingiero los mismos alimentos, soy una persona nueva. La geografía ha desencadenado esta metamorfosis. No creo en identidades establecidas en un documento. No creo en límites geográficos dibujados en un mapa por un hombre ambicioso. Solo soy una parte más de este paisaje hoy, y tal vez de otro mañana.

The landscape invades me, it transforms me, it takes over me. I no longer wear the same colors, I no longer eat the same foods, I am a new person. Geography has triggered this metamorphosis. I do not believe in identities written on a document. I do not believe in geographic boundaries drawn on a map by an ambitious man. I'm just one piece of this landscape today, and maybe tomorrow I could be part of another.

Artista visual, nace en Argentina en 1973. Licenciada en Administración de Empresas y en Contaduría Pública, por la Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA). Estudios de arte en la Asociación Estímulo de Bellas Artes y en la Asociación Amigos del Museo de Bellas Artes. De 2010 a 2014 vive en Brasil, toma contacto con artistas locales, experimenta nuevas técnicas y materiales. En 2014 se traslada a Miami, donde reside actualmente. Ha realizado trabajos de pregrado en Artes Visuales en Miami Dade College (MDC) y estudios de educación continua a nivel de posgrado en la Universidad de Miami (UM).

Visual artist, born in Argentina in 1973. She holds a Bachelor in Business Administration and a Bachelor in Public Accounting from the Universidad Católica Argentina in Buenos Aires. She studied art at the Asociación Estímulo de Bellas Artes and the Asociación Amigos del Museo de Bellas Artes. From 2010 to 2014 she lived in Brazil, working with local artists discovered new techniques and materials. In 2014 she moved to Miami, where she currently resides. She has done Visual Arts undergraduate work at Miami-Dade College (MDC), and continuing education studies at the graduate level at the University of Miami (UM).
