Colombia has young stockists After many trips, Berny Silber realized that in all European cities they have their own local brewery, so he drew the conclusion that Bogotá and Colombia needed a good beer, with more character and variety of styles. Others had already failed in their attempts to sell different ale, so Berny brewers sold their creations particularly the style of a typical British Pub where guests feel at home. So, it was that in 2002 Bogota Beer Company was born under the concepts of local brewery and pub, and its success is shown by its 12 pubs in Bogota. But Silber knew that success is not a point of arrival but a path to walk, so he keeps traveling with different chefs and training them to improve their products; while he’s still improving and incorporating elements representing each of their pubs to make them even more comfortable. "The largest small brewery of Bogota” has a modern production facility located in the heart of the city, in addition to a quality laboratory where it is monitored the step by step process of beer.

We love nails On August 4, 2012 Andrea and Daniella Moscarella Novoa, two best friends, decided to partner. Both shared a love for painting the nails and spent long hours decorating them with elaborated designs. So it was imagined the perfect plan: making art in nails while eating a delicious dessert with friends. These two university students who back then were just 21 and 22 years, decided to put their idea and sought agreements with different bars in the city. It all started at Stragos Bar, the first one that opened the doors to this idea. They had two manicurists who themselves trained and brought 200 enamels from around the world. They began to do the ad campaign 15 days before the opening and the reservations agenda was completely full when they opened. At Stragos Bar they were for a short time, as the Colombian women soon fell in love with the innovative experience that offered the nail bar that the space was not enough to attend such demand. Gettin around by “Transmilenio”:The greatest challenge Last week, I saw a couple of tourists walking down the street; and they seemed to be really excited. So, the only thing I could think about was: “they haven’t moved around the city by ‘Transmilenio’ yet”. Using this system is definitely the greatest challenge and it’s just for brave people. It is true that this public transportation is a fast way to move in Bogota. But, if you want to be comfortable and quiet, just don’t try to get around by “Transmilenio”, because you could be a victim of pushing, hitting, yelling and also, thefts. This public transportation has also become a place to talk about the misfortunes of the country: women and men, of different ages, consider “Transmilenio” a good way to get money by telling passengers the tragic stories of their life.

Although it is a space where not only stories are heard, music is heard too. It is also a market with a lot of products: candies, groundnuts, toys, cards, creams, earrings, bracelets… whatever you want, you can buy to different sellers. I don’t mean it is bad at all, but the problem appears when they get mad just because someone doesn’t give them money, or doesn’t buy one of their products. “Transmilenio” is one of the best ways to show the lack of culture in Bogota; a place where people aren’t tolerant and kind. For example: if a pregnant woman gets into the bus and asks for a seat, many people pretend to be asleep just to keep their place. How can this happen? People do whatever they need to have a seat; and even if there’s no more space in the bus, people push until they are in.

“Transmilenio” represents a good way to go faster; but it is maybe the worst choice if someone wants to be relaxed and calm. The true function of this public service, which is to take people to a specific destination, is being accompanied by situations that not only shouldn’t exist (like pushing, hitting and thefts), but that also represent the absence of culture in the city.

“Scratch, Scratch and Scratch”: says Betto Text and photography by: Luisa Fernanda Gómez Edited by: Natalia Sarmiento and María Alejandra Restrepo Alberto Martinez, better known as ''Betto'' is a Colombian cartoonist, winner of four Simon Bolivar National Awards of Journalism (1999, 2008, 2010, 2013) and two CPB (2007, 2008) in the categories of Best Cartoon. Since 1998, he has registered the national reality with his lines and ingenuity in the newspaper El Espectador. In addition, he stands out as professor and with that role he takes benefit to communicate to the new generations the best of his experience as cartoonist. Besides being a cartoonist, from an early age, he has been curious about the harmonica and has been dedicated to study it a lot, so today he considers himself as a "Harmonicologist". He has accompanied bands like The Black Cat Bone, among others, playing the instrument that rescues the spirit of the Blues. He has also published 6 books [In Barra Arte de Humor 1997, Omelette de Humor 2002, Toro Humor 2005, Manual para Pioneros 2006,Blues en Blanco y Negro 2008, Ellos y Ellas 2008]. After half an hour interview with Betto, this is what he told us. What was the last book you read? The last book I read ... I read a lot, so I have to look at. The last one I read on April 8this called The Rum Diary by Hunter Thompson. This is my book 9 of this year. What book is currently on your nightstand? Una novelita lumpen, by Roberto Bolaños. It's a little thing that a friend gave me. I almost finish it. It’s very cool, because I've never read anything by Bolaños. That is real friendship, the friend who gave me the book traveled to EEUU, last week he came and we always make exchanges of books. What is your favorite writer? Charles Bukowski. Your favorite book? Women by Bukowski. Over the years things change: when I was a youngster, Tom Sawyer. After, I got the time of “Gabo”. I've always liked ''Gabo''. Later, I liked Enrique Jardiel Poncela ... I've been changing, but the one that has always been is Charles Bukowski. What are your hobbies? The harmonica, flying kites at any time of the year... I have many. I'm a man with many hobbies. I collect stamps, practice DXing, I mean, I listen shortwave. Listening shortwave is listening to distant radio stations from other parts of the world: Turkey's radio stations or stations from Iran, Russia, and Cuba. I make the report that I hear them and in gratitude they send me a card and I collect these cards.

What is your favorite activity? Drawing, basically. It’s necessary to the diary, I draw the whole day. Drawing and reading. These are the things that I do more during the day. Dream to achieve To publish in the New Yorker, and may be fly alone more time. What do you do actually? I publish in Fenai, in Ecoguía magazine, in El Espectador, I teach at Javeriana and that’s it. What do you teach in your graphic humor class? What there is in the books is there, so I don’t teach that. I believe that I teach people to be happy. It will hear so romantic, but I believe that I'm happy with what I do, it’s clear, I teach it. Look! Drawing is cool because you want to do it. What are your cartoons? Graphic reflections. What is a cartoon for you? Well, the obvious, it’s a way to express, it’s the editorial overview. For me, it’s the most beautiful way to do for a living. Because I’m in my house, no one disturbs me, I make the drawing. Before, during and after, while I plan it… all it’s a pleasure: think, make and see it after publishing it is so amazing. It’s all that. Tips or advice for someone who wants to be a cartoonist Read a lot. Drawing is flying hours. Reading will make you draw and scratch and scratch and scratch… Then the advice is scratch, scratch and scratch until you get exhausted, and when you get exhausted, you can stop drawing. Namely, you change to other page, or you make smaller or bigger your drawings. And reading. For me is reading.

Creative People People think that creativity is a natural condition in the human being. It is, but they think that just few people can have this condition. If they don’t consider themselves creative people is because they don’t write some stories or don’t draw according to a social standard or because they are not great musicians or only because they don’t try to be creative people. Creativity is something that people develop across their lives. It doesn’t appear because of a weird universe power. Everybody is creative but in different levels. We are experts creating stories to sustain some failures in the school, university or romantic dates. Everybody draws in their notebooks when they are bored. If these drawings are not considered good drawings is because society has established some beauty rules, but it doesn’t mean that you are not a creative person. Beauty is not associated with creativity. If this negative thinking about creative people continues floating into human brains, the world will be the same as it is now: Full of people that just think in themselves, embittering people’s life just because they don't try to have a creative life full of good things. This is an invitation to everybody to think that creativity is more than drawing good, or write a lot of thinking. Creativity is about building a better world to you, to everybody. Then everybody is creative. Just try to do it! Edith Hurtado

This movie is about an adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s memoir chronicling his rises and falls on Wall Street and his hard-partying, addiction-fueled personal life. “When we first meet Jordan Belfort, he’s more pup than a wolf, his lowest-rung job at L.F. Rothschild requiring him only to “smile and dial”. A first day lunch with big boss Mark Hanna (Matthew McConaughey) sows the seeds of the chaos to come, though: Hanna advises him that the stock market is “all fugazi” while preaching the worthlessness of morals and the necessity of greed, cocaine and, to stay relaxed. Then, on 19 October, 1987, the very day Jordan becomes a licensed broker, the market crashes and Rothschild goes under”. Jordan joins a penny-stocks firm in Long Island, employing a bunch of expert salesmen and the triumphant result is named Stratton Oakmont, an illegally firm of the stock market. From the start of the movie the spectators are put right into what it means to be a New York stock broker. This movie maybe is a little exaggerated, but it needed because of the lavish and high intensity life style the men live. The Role of Leonardo Di Caprio plays is probably his best role I have seen him play. Unfortunately, even though he was nominated for an Oscar, he lost in the best actor category.

REGARDING FILMS‌ This is a personal opinion based on what I have seen. I have never studied cinematography or something similar. I study business administration, but I like the cine too much. I try to go 2 or 3 times per month to see any movie in the huge screen and sometimes, for choosing quickly just for seeing something, I have met with a “hard nutâ€?, and maybe some of you have lived the same experience. For that reason, I decided to give you these recommendations. These movies are no longer on the cinema but you still can get them easily. Most of them are recent and maybe will help you for any afternoon or night you decide to see a good movie at home and do not waste time looking for one. • COMEDY To begin, if you want to have a good time and laugh for a long while my recommendation is “No se aceptan devolucionesâ€? which had a great welcome this 2014. It is a nice story with some drama and it is about a womanizer who, in one of his adventures, appears with a baby. He wanted to return the baby girl to her mom in the United States, but he finished loving her in the path, and he decided to take care of her. After 7 years, the mom appears and everything becomes difficult. Others: Una Familia Numerosa, Los Aprendices, Bad Grandpa, El Dictador. • ROMANCE The truth, this is not my favorite genre, neither I have seen a lot of movies of this kind of films, but with some help of a feminine touch, we have chosen these 3, I have seen them and they were not boring. Others: 3 Metros sobre el Cielo, Posdata te amo, and Diario de una PasiĂłn.

• DRAMA Amigos or Untouchable (2012) is not very recent but it has been one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It has some comedy and a nice uncommon story. It is about a disabled billionaire who needs too much care and he decides to hire an unconcerned man without studies about that, and despite their differences of culture, age and preferences, a very sincere friendship is created. Others: 7 Almas, Warrior, Her. • ACTION My favorite is the saga of “Fast and Furiousâ€? but most of you know about it. For that reason, I prefer to talk about “Need for Speedâ€? which is newer and it is based on a game, with a similar topic (cars and illegal races) but very different, with a story and a very distinct scene setting. I thought it would be boring, but I enjoyed it. You have to see it to understand what I am talking about. Other recommendations: RĂĄpido y Furioso, CapitĂĄn AmĂŠrica, The Avegers, Red. • OTHER GENRES ADVENTURE AND SCIENCE FICTION Elysium, The Hunger Games, El Hobbit, In Time. HORROR/SUSPENSE El Conjuro, The Purge. • TOP “HARD NUTâ€? o Noe o La Gran Aventura Lego o El Heredero del Diablo o NinfomanĂa ÂĄNEVER SEE THEM!

Most people feel trapped in a life full of routines; they feel like they don't have an escape from the society in which they live. But there is a solution, the answer is within ourselves. Many times we try to evade our problems by traveling or just ignoring them, but there is a practice that helps the body relax and release stress. This practice is called "yoga". As I mentioned before, yoga helps people free their minds from their bodies and this helps them have better control over their thoughts and the tensions within their bodies disappear. Yoga also helps balance the body internally, it stimulates brain waves, it's good for digestion and it makes the stomach and skin firmer. "Yoga brings the mind to the present moment, improving clarity and alertness. This way, the mind is at peace and can deal with daily stress". Bees in problems When you visit a supermarket and buy some fruits or vegetables such as apples, carrots, lemons, onions, broccoli, and, of course, honey, all of this food, in part, is produced thanks to honeybees. Honeybees are one of the most important pollinators of crops around the world and almost a third of the food is pollinized by these insects. A pollinator is an organism who transfers pollen between plants in order to help the reproduction of the plants. This is the reason why honeybees are so important, but in the last decade the croppers have seen a reduction of honeybee population, and this phenomenon is called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). There are many factors that probably are causing the declination on honeybee population. Some of these factors are: Varroa mite, which is a parasitic insect that sucks bees’ blood (haemolymph) causing some diseases produced by bacteria, fungi and viruses, which produce wing deformations and paralysis. But pesticides, especially neocoticoids, are probably the principal cause of the honeybees population decrease. Neocoticoids, which are commonly used for pest control, are water soluble, and are taken up by the plant and are accumulated in some parts of it, like the flowers, which contain the pollen and nectar and represent a high risk for the bees because they feed of nectar. Thus, agriculture studies are an essential tool in the research of the honeybee population decline. Through samples of pests or pathogens and bees’ databases, this phenomenon could be solved in order to avoid a food crisis in the future.

Hey, wake up and take care of you! If you are the kind of people who always makes excuses – you can’t get to the gym, you don’t have time, you can’t afford it, or the weather may not be suitable to go outdoors and exercise, look at this, it is for you. The only equipment you need is yourself – meaning NO EXCUSES. (Ted Vickey). Working against your own body weight is the most natural way to train and is extremely effective at getting you in shape. Here you’re going to find a short routine for your workout. All you need is a couple of chairs, books, bottles and buckets. So let’s do it. 1. Before start doing force exercises, you must do stretching exercises between 10 and 15 minutes to keep out of harms. 2. You only need to do 4 series and repeat it 12 times. 3. Don’t forget to maintain the body in an upright position and always keep looking straight ahead. 4. At the end, you must do stretching exercises again, but this time could be 15 or more minutes.

CHAIR DIPS 1. Position yourself between the chairs, supporting your weight on your hands and with your feet out in front of you. 2. Slowly lower yourself until your upper arms are parallel to the seat of the chairs. 3. Hold in lower position before pushing back up until your arms are fully extended again.

PUSH-UPS 1. Place the books on the ground about shoulder width apart. 2. Lie face down on the floor with your hands on the books. 3. Push-up until your arms are straight. This is the starting position. 4. Lower your body until your chest reaches the level of the books, and then return to the starting position.

SIT UPS 1. Lie flat on your back on the floor with your knees bent at 90 degrees and feet flat on the floor. 2. Extend your arms and place your palms on your thighs. 3. Slowly curl the torso, raising your head and shoulders and sliding your hands along your thighs until they reach your knees. 4. Lower your head and shoulders back down to the floor.

LUNGES 1. Step forward with one foot, leaving the other back. 2. Lower your back knee almost to the floor, and rise up again, concentrating on squeezing your buttocks to push yourself up. 3. Repeat this action to perform several repetitions, then again with the opposite foot forward. 4. Make sure there is not too great distance between your feet. Do not allow your front knee to go forward beyond your toes as you come down.

BUCKET SQUATS 1. Position your feet flat on the floor, about shoulder width apart (toes slightly turned out), with a bucket in each hand. 2. Slowly descend until the thighs are parallel to the floor, hold for a second, and then push back up to the starting position. 3. Always inhale your breath on the way down, and exhale as you stand up.

You can do it, you have time for it, all you need is to start and later you wouldn’t want to stop. Take a breath of your daily journey and don`t forget to think in your health. “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live”. (Jim Rohn)
