Notice of low water pressure

D

avao City Water District advises the public of two schedules of low water pressure to no water in some Buhangin and Cabantian areas. First schedule is on October 12, 2019 from 1:00 AM to 3:30 AM and second schedule is on October 14, 2019 from 3:00 AM to 5:30 AM. Affected are some Buhangin areas, particularly portion of Robinsons Highlands Subd. specifically Beverly Hills St., Bread Subd., Carpio Subd., Panorama Homes Subd., Pioneer Village, and Manuel M. Garcia Road (from corner Cabantian Road to Panorama Homes) and some Cabantian areas, speciically Holy Trinity Subd., Countryville Executive Homes, Dela Peña Subd., BACAHOA Subd., Victor’s Executive Homes, Emilia Homes Subd., and portion of Cabantian Road (from Holy Trinity to Emilia Homes Subd.). DCWD’s Panorama Booster Pump will be affected by the Davao Light and Power Company’s (DLPC) power interruption on the said dates needed to facilitate the substation maintenance works of DLPC’s Ma-a Substation. Although the power cuts are shorter in duration, DCWD needs additional time for re-switching on of the affected facility, pressure build up,

and line delivery, thus the longer duration of water service interruptions. On behalf of the DCWD management, General Manager Edwin V. Regalado asks for the understanding and cooperation of would-be affected customers and advises them to store enough water prior to the schedules. Water supply may be restored earlier if DLPC’s work goes smoothly or later if unforeseen problems arise. DCWD conducts lushing after service works are completed. However, once water is restored, customers are advised to open all faucets and allow water to run for at least two minutes. Do not drink tap water immediately but if needed, boil water beforehand as safety precaution. The general public may visit DCWD website (www.davao-water.gov. ph) and oficial Facebook page (www.facebook. com/davaowater) for the latest water service updates. They may also call the Central Information Unit / Call Center through the 24-hour hotline 235DCWD (3293) and press “4” on their phone dial for the latest daily water updates or contact 09277988966, 0925-5113293, and 0908-4410653 for any matters pertaining to DCWD services. T

he City Government of Mati under Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat vows to support the shrimp growers in the city provided they comply with all of the requirements from the government. In a meeting held at the City Mayor’s ofice Thursday, October 10, shrimp growers called Baname Growers in Barangay Dahican represented by Rashid Flores expressed their willingness to pay the necessary fees and comply with the requirements. Flores said though that they are having a hard time complying with the

requirements for the past years now since the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the local government have different and sometimes “conlicting” requirements. During Thursday’s meeting, it was settled by the DENR and the city government oficials to submit a list of requirements to Mayor Michelle by next week to which the Banami growers would comply for the issuance of their business permits. omegrown retail giant New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC) is gearing up for cashless transaction by launching the NCCC Mastercard in partnership with Metrobank at NCCC Mall Buhangin yesterday.

The card aims to provide NCCC shoppers with more convenient payment options and inancial lexibility. It also gives cardholders access to exclusive discounts and promos. Lafayette Lim, chief executive oficer of NCCC Group of Companies said in an interview that apart from launching the NCCC Mastercard, they are also working on their electronic wallet and other services that uses electronic systems like prepaid and postpaid services in the future.

“As we all know the credit card usage in our country is very low and the last I heard is about 8 million users lang that is like less than 10 percent of above of the population. Very low talaga ang credit card isage dito sa country. Just early this year If you heard the news that electronic wallet has already overtaking credit cards but of course it would not replaced credit cards in the business and e-wallets have its own place. NCCC is already preparing for cashless and we are already also

working on going cashless transaction,” Lim said as he expressed optimism that cashless transaction will take off based on the popularity of other card transactions such as Paymaya that has been accepted in the country now. “It will take off and we are preparing for that,” he said. The NCCC credit card replaces the existing NCCC Kanegosyo Rewards Card used by wholesalers and sari-sari store owners. Regular rewards card holders may also avail of the credit card. Joseph Uy, chief information oficer of LTS Pinnacle Holdings Inc said the rewards card is used for cash transaction. “If you use cash you still need to present your rewards card to earn points, but if you use your master card you don’t need to anymore show your NCCC rewards card because the mastercard and NCCC rewards card are already link together,” Uy explained. “Only if you use cash you can use the NCCC rewards card and only when you are going to redeem your points then you have to show your NCCC Rewards Card, why? Becasue the mastercard has no photo so if this gets lost or stolen and redeem your points, kawawa ka lahat ng points mo nawala because somebody stole your card and redeem your points. That is why we require the rewards card to be shown during redemption.” The NCCC Mastercard

egotiations for the development and expansion of the Mati City Airport in Davao Oriental continue, as local oficials said they are coordinating with concerned agencies to speed up the project. In an interview Wednesday, Davao Oriental Provincial Information Oficer Karen Lou Deloso said a consultation-planning was held recently among key personalities from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), local oficials, and the affected landowners. Deloso said the participants aired their respective concerns relative to the development of the airport, a

project that has languished for 40 years now. Also known as the Imelda R. Marcos Airport, the project in Barangay Dahican was started by then-governor Francisco “Paking” Rabat. During the recent meeting, Deloso said the stakeholders initially agreed to push through the development of a Class 3C airport, designed to accommodate turbo propeller aircraft. However, she said the oficials involved in the project anticipated future development and expansion, and agreed to push through with the Class 4C airport, which can accommodate larger planes.
