Sen. Go assures PRRD won't release Sanchez By ADAM B. MORRELL

enator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go gave assurance on Friday that President Rodrigo Duterte won’t allow the release of convicted rapist and murderer ex-mayor of Calauan, Laguna Antonio Sanchez. The Dabawenyo lawmaker told reporters during his visit to the fire victims of Punta Dumalag at the Matina Aplaya Barangay Hall covered court in Davao City, that he personally discussed the controversial issue with President Duterte.
"Napag usapan po namin yan Huwebes ng madaling araw, sabi nya, nag compute din siya sa sarili nya, kasi nabasa nya rin yun (Sanchez pardon issue), sabi nya "Di ako papayag na makakalabas si Sanchez"," Go said. Sanchez was sentenced to seven counts of reclusion perpetua or up to 40 years imprisonment by the Pasig Regional Trial Court in 1995 for the rape-slay of University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños student Eileen Sarmenta and the murder of her friend, Allan Gomez, in 1993. "Tutol po si Pangulong Duterte lalong lalo na po sa mga heinous crimes o karumal dumal na krimen," Go added. He reiterated his earlier statement saying: "Sanchez, mabuti pa dyan ka nalang sa loob, pagdusahan mo mga kasalanan mo kaysa lumabas ka pa, i-ikli lang ang buhay mo."
