Bukidnon’s OLLES FC wins 5 titles in Davao Summer Games foootball By Neil Bravo

LLES FC of Bukidnon romped away with five titles to emerge as the biggest winner in the recent Davao Summer Games Football Festival at the sprawling Davao Crocodile Park Football complex. OLLES FC rolled to their championship runs in the Players 6, Players 7, Players 9 , Boys 13, and Boys 16 divisions of the biggest football festival in Davao this year. The two-day bootfest organized by the Duaw Davao Festival Foundation for the city government of Davao attracted a record field of 82 teams in 16 categories. So impressive were the Bukidnon booters that the only title that escaped their hands was the Players 8 and 10 categories which went to Davao’s Ateneo FC and Davao Crocodile FC, respectively. “They were simply impressive,” said Davao Crocodile FC coach Christian Ea whose team got beaten by OLLES in the semifinals of

the Players 6 and 7. Solido FC of Davao won two titles in the Girls 16 and the Women’s Open to carry the pride of the home squads. Davao won titles courtesy of Ateneo in the Players 8, Davao Crocodile FC in the Players 10, The Strikers (Girls 13), Supladas (Girls 14), Dabaw United (Boys 18), and multi-titled Hooligans (Men’s Open). Cebu’s Don Bosco FC won the Booys 11 title while MAPFRE FC of Cagayan de Oro took the Boys 12. Davao Football Association (DFA) president Edward Lam, Duaw Davao Festival Foundation chairperson Gee Bangayan, executive director Lisette Marques and SDD officer-in-charge Pocholo Elegino graced the competition. The event is supported by Davao Light and Power Co., SM City Davao, H2Zero Water, AMA Computer College Davao and Nature Spring Water. Mayor Duterte to open Davao Sports Expo today

AVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte will formally open the first ever Davao Sports Expo today at the SM City Annex activity area. The Sports Expo, a five-day exhibition of sports brands, products and services, serves as the business development segment of the annual Davao Summerfest which is ongoing for the entire

month of May. Mayor Duterte will be cutting the ceremonial ribbon of the Sports Expo along with Duaw Davao Festival Foundation chairperson Gene Bangayan and City Tourism Officer Jason Magnaye. The Sports Expo, which runs from May 16-20, is spearheaded by Duaw Davao Festival Foundation with SM City

Davao as its venue partner. It is also backed up by Davao Light and Power Corp., H2 Zero, International Pharmaceuticals Inc., Nature Spring Water and AMA Computer College Davao. Among the highlights of the Expo are demonstrations by the Philippine Rugby Team more popularly known as the Volcanoes and the URC

exhibitions led by top ranked fighters. Bike Clubs, wakeboard and triathlon groups will also be setting up exhibits of the latest equipment and gears. At the Carpark C area, tennis and football demonstrations will be held on May 18-20. Interested participants may join the sports demo camps for free.
