The new half-term has started very well and everyone is working hard. There have been some notable recent successes. Firstly, our mixed football team beat Meare on the penultimate day of the last half-term 7-6. It was a thrilling game with our equalising goal at 6-6 just scraping under the crossbar of the inflatable goal as it was deflating. Well done to everyone involved in the football team. On the final day of the term we then had Year 3’s Victorian day and the Year 6 trip to London. I went along with Year 6 and need to publically praise their behaviour. They were fantastic and learned a lot during the day but most impressively they behaved very sensibly and were a credit to the school. Another success was the performance of our choir at the West Somerset Concert in Bridgwater. The organiser of the concert emailed the school saying ‘The choir were fantastic and the soloists Matthew Davis and Hayden Dearling were great!’

In addition, the children were very respectful during the two minutes silence during our Remembrance Service and thank you for the donations that have been made to support the Royal British legion poppy appeal.

This brings me to this week. Please remember to check your child’s parents’ evening appointment as we do need to meet a parent or carer for each child. Also, Christmas is approaching. There will be a Year 5 and Year 3 Christmas play only this year. It was felt that it was too disruptive to run four plays all at the same time. In place of a play Year 4 will do a presentation or assembly in the Spring term with a strong Arts content. Year 6 will have their Leavers’ Play and will be involved in a dance festival. Finally, please remember to catch me at home time or before school to have a quiet word if you need to discuss any successes or concerns. Alternatively, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment as necessary. Yours Sincerely

Steve Gumm (Headteacher)
