Dream, Believe, Achieve.

Newsletter 23 12th March 2018 Dear Mums, Dads & Carers, I would like to start by saying a huge well done to the Year 6 children who went on the London trip last Thursday and Friday. It was an action packed 2 days with visits to the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and the Natural History Museum. We were fortunate to have a visit from James Heappey MP during out Parliament visit and to see London lit up purple in recognition or International Women’s Day. In particular I was impressed with the children’s conduct in crowded areas such as Westminster and their behaviour in a busy London restaurant. It was pleasing throughout the trip to hear positive comments from members of the public about the children. I would also like to thank the Year 6 team for organising such a memorable trip for the children. I have also been informed that both Year 3 classes enjoyed their trips to the Earth Science Centre and behaved well. Forthcoming events  PTFA meeting – Tuesday 13th March, 3.20 p.m. The PTFA will be meeting tomorrow straight after school tomorrow to discuss fundraising for the summer term. The PTFA currently consists of parents of Year 6 children who have been doing a great job. It would be really helpful for other parents to come forward as we will struggle to run the range of events next year.  Kilve meeting for parents – Thursday 15th March, 6 – 7 p.m. This is an important meeting for parents of Year 5 children going to Kilve this year to discuss information such as kit lists, medical forms etc. We hope as many parents can join us as possible.  Road Safety meeting - Monday 19th March, 9 a.m. This is a meeting for parents in the school hall with Mr Gumm. One of the key items to discuss this time will be the possibility of staggering the end of the school day.

Parents Evening Appointments – Tuesday 20th March & Thursday 22nd March. Just a reminder that we will be holding parent’s evening appointments next week. Please return the reply slip by Wednesday 14th March. We would like all parents to attend as this is a crucial opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher to review their progress and discuss how we can work together to build on that.

Inset Days I can confirm that Monday 3rd September and Tuesday 4th September 2018 will be Inset days for St Benedict’s School. Other dates are yet to be finalised but I will update you as and when a decision is made.

Best wishes

Steve Gumm The week ahead Tuesday 13th March
