Congratulations Our congratulations go to Moira Blair who has won an Associate Principal position at Meadowbank School. As notified to Room 7 parents earlier this term, Moira will be leaving us tomorrow to take up her new position. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Moira well in her new position and to thank her for her teaching and leadership at Edendale. Moira has been Team Leader of Year Three for a number of years, and was previously lead teacher for Maths and ICT.

High Distinction: Bryan Room 26 (Y.5). Congratulations Bryan, an outstanding effort! This result sits in the top 1% of results from NZ. Distinction: Yi Chao Room 27 (Y.5), Bhavya Room 25 (Y.5), Matthew Room 27 (Y.5), Alexander Room 1 (Y.4) and Joshua Room 3 (Y.4). Congratulations to these five students, again a wonderful achievement, which is within the top 10% of results from NZ. 7 students gained a Credit and 41 a Participation certificate.

Upcoming Sporting Events

Payment for Photolife class photos are now well overdue. Please return payment or the photo to your child‘s teacher if you have not already done so. Thank you.

Eden/Albert Cross Country that was postponed in Term 2 is now being run on Thursday 3rd November at Fowlds Park. Eden/Albert Athletics is being held on Monday 21st November at Margaret Griffin Park. Parents will be notified should their child be selected to represent Edendale.

Yummy Apple Stickers

Thanks everyone, and especially to Eva & Bryn‘s mum for organising the collection of ‗Yummy Apple Stickers for Sports Gear‘ on behalf of Edendale. We have 6500 points. We will find out how much money we will get to spend on sports gear next term. Please continue to collect stickers and barcodes from plastic Yummy bags, we will collect them from you again in 2012. Let's see if we can collect even more next year!

Manaaki Class Trip

Sonshine Ranch The tunnel by the climbing wall was really exciting. It was very dark. It was worrying because we were under ground and it felt like a mine. I pushed my helmet against the concrete pipe to find the really thick rope. I used the rope to By Ned - Room 2 find my way out. When I went into the tunnel it was pitch black. I felt the thick rope and used it to guide me along and up the tunnel. The rope ended. We jumped in a hole and through a carpet door out into the world. Tyler helped people. Jay was a little scared. I felt worried because we were under ground and it was dark. By Brodie - Room 2

School Information Lost Property Please ensure that you check for any items of lost clothing in the cupboard located by the office. We will dispose of any clothing remaining unclaimed after 3:00pm Friday 7 October.

Post School Please remember that there will be NO POST SCHOOL on the last day of school (Friday 7 October).

School Holiday Programme Edendale School will be running a Holiday Programme Monday 10th October – Friday 21st October for children aged 5–12 years. This is an Oscar approved programme and will run craft activities, games and trips out. Pre-care/Post-care will be available. Amendments relating to schools... From 1 October 2011:  Drivers approaching a pedestrian crossing controlled by a school patrol will only be required to stop when the school patrol sign is extended.  Drivers passing a stationary school bus with a fixed or flashing school bus sign‘ will need to reduce their speed to 20km/h.  Buses travelling on school trips, where all passengers are seated, will be exempt from having to display a ‗school bus‘ sign and will be permitted to travel at 90km/h. Also, changes to the give-way rules will come into force on 25 March 2012. For more information about these changes, please go to
