PROJECT 11 PORT EXPANSION DREDGING KICKOFF - GALVESTON

Chad Burke had the opportunity to be part of the deredging kickoff event. This project is one of the top 4 that the Economic Alliance and the DC team has been advocating for during our DC trips. The process is coming along smoothing. This kickoff is proof that the work we are doing is having a positive impact on growth in the Gulf Coast region.

2022 PORT REGION SUPPLY CHAIN FORUM
We heard from Port Houston, an importer of goods, and from the trucking industry. Some valuable information was also shared regarding the computer chip shortage, something many of us weren't even aware of. Thank you, speakers, for giving us your valuable time, great information was delivered!

DREAM IT DO IT

During the second quarter of 2022 the Dream It. Do It. program had eight presentations reaching over 700 students, parents, teachers, administrators, and underemployed adults. Working with our industry partners who volunteer, our goal is to highlight career opportunities in our region focused on petrochemical, logistics, transportation, maritime and construction industries. In 2022, year to date, we have made over 4000 connections. We attended five career fairs and made three classroom presentations in April, May, and June. The Houston ISD “When I Grow Up” event took place on a Saturday at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center and was district wide. The “Put Pasadena to Work Job Fair” allowed us to connect with underemployed residents and Dream It Do It participated in the San Jacinto College CPET Industrial Career Fair. School Districts that we visited are Pasadena, Aldine, Galena Park, La Porte, Goose Creek, Texas City, and Channelview. One Goal Graduation also helped us reach out to students. Thank you to our volunteers from G & H Towing and Shell who helped speak with students at the Maritime and Logistics Youth Expo. Our volunteers bring invaluable insight into the high-demand, high-wage careers in our area. If you’d also like to share your knowledge with the future workforce, we are always looking for volunteers to come speak about their careers in the petrochemical, logistics, maritime, construction, and transportation industries. If you would like to help, please email Patti at patti@allianceportregion.com
