On 24th February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, starting a war in Europe

This was not the first time Russia attacked Ukraine: in 2014, Russia unilaterally annexed Crimea, causing an international outrage but not much more Putin, thinking that Ukraine was vulnerable and that the world would once again not react, launched this attack But, one year on, the war is still raging. It disrupted global trade that was still recovering from the pandemic. 8 million Ukrainian fled their country. Since then, Ukraine has been growing cooperation with the EU and has bid to join NATO.
