Thank you to all of you who came out to our book fair last Friday! There was over $2,200 in sales which means the library will receive $1,100 in free books!! Thank you so much for your support.

Thanksgiving Feast In your Thursday Notes we are including information about the Thanksgiving Feast planned for Tuesday, November 23rd, at 11:30am. This is a very special time for us as we break bread together and give thanks for all God has provided. As always, it will take all of us to make this event a success. Please note what your child’s class is being asked to provide. We will also need some of you to bring a turkey or ham. We had a great time last year. We hope you are making plans to be here. Come hungry!

Headmaster Headline Last week we celebrated “Hero Day” and had a special assembly for the younger students to “show and tell” us about their heroes. It was entertaining, inspiring and encouraging as each class stood on stage for all to see. I hope everyone enjoyed our time together and that you will continue to talk with your children about what it means to be heroic. I was impressed not only by the costumes, but also by the reasons given by the children for selecting their characters. There were many examples of community helpers, parents, teachers, Bible characters and military. It was also very good to see our teachers participating, even dressing up as each other! I need to get one of those “Jesus is My Hero” T-shirts.

Headmaster Headline It is sometimes difficult to express thanks when we are experiencing uncertain or difficult times. In the book of James, we are exhorted to “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds…” (James 1:2a). However, James does not stop there, but continues to tell us why and to explain how we are to depend on God and ask Him who gives generously. I know we all get so wrapped up in just trying to survive until tomorrow that we forget from whom we should depend. Father is indeed a generous and loving God who wants the best for His children. If only we would trust Him to fulfill His promise to show us “the incomparable riches of His grace...” (Eph 2:7). As we approach this season of Thanksgiving, I encourage everyone to thank our heavenly Father and give Him the praise He so richly deserves. Thank Him for not only helping you make it through each day, but for also for giving you another one and providing you with reasons to be joyful. Just look around!

Headmaster Headline “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High.” (Ps 92:1). Indeed it is very good to give thanks to our creator and Father who loves us and provides for us, His children. As I walk through the campus, down the hallways and into the classrooms, I see wonderful expressions of “thanksgiving” created by our kids. In the classroom and in chapel, I listen to them recite God’s Holy Word as they hide it in their hearts that they may not sin against Him. I am encouraged by knowing that these children not only give thanks during this season (Thanksgiving Holidays), but they are also consistent in their appreciation of their heavenly Father throughout the entire year. Thank you for allowing us to invest ourselves in their lives and be a part of your team as together we encourage them to seek a close personal relationship with Christ. As we and they draw closer to Him, we cannot help but give Him thanks and sing His praises daily. Make a joyful noise!

Thanksgiving Feast Location We will not be meeting in the auditorium as previously planned. Once you have picked up your student (s) from the classroom (s) at 11a.m., please come directly to the gymnasium. Everyone should plan to arrive in the gym by 11:15. We will eat after prayer and a song from our choir. We will have tables and chairs set up in the Youth Building next door for the K3-K5 kids and their families (if you do not want to walk back across campus to their classroom). The rest of us may go to classrooms, playgrounds or hang out in the gym. We are expecting a large crowd, so pray for good weather, which will allow some of us to eat outdoors and appreciate this special campus.

There will be NO Moms in Touch on Tuesday, November 23. We will be taking this week off so that we can all get prepared for the Thanksgiving Feast!

Circle of Safety In your child’s Thursday Notes folder, you will find a flyer with information about how you can have your child’s safety identification cards made. These cards include vital information as well as medical facts needed in case of an emergency. If you are interested, please return the form and payment by Monday, November 29. Photos will be taken on November 30.

REMINDER: November Staff Luncheon is Tomorrow! If you are planning on coming to sit in your child’s classroom, please make sure the front office or the teacher knows. Thank you!!

CASUAL DAY Tuesday, our Thanksgiving Feast Day, will be Casual Day. Come dressed comfortable & ready to eat!

The Oaks Goes International! Several of our students appeared in the Bosch Zunder, a newspaper for associates of the Bosch Group. The paper is distributed in the US and in Germany. The article entitled, “Associates impact students’ lives” describes the program we participated in as part of our science curriculum last year. The Oaks Christian School is one of 20 schools taking advantage of the AWIM (A World In Motion) project which helps bring math and science to life by “incorporating the laws of physics, motion, flight and electronics into age-appropriate, hands-on activities.” The pictures and article are featured in the foyer at the front office. The smiles on our students’ faces show us how they felt about their experience!

Kindergarten Christmas Program The K3, K4, K5 classes are preparing for their Christmas Program on December 16th at 6:30 p.m. The children and I are looking forward to celebrating the birth of our Lord with you! Parents, please have your student dressed in Christmas clothing for our performance. Please no jeans or Santa clothing. Thank You,
