when distinguishing FaMESHed from other events. Eschewing the usual superlatives, she emphasized her love of all events. She thinks what she brings to FaMESHed is her own enthusiasm. “I am a shopping fanatic, and I think it is part of the reason why Cracked Mirror had hired me to be the Manager of FaMESHed back then because I am bringing that same level of enthusiasm and enjoyment to the shoppers and the designers. So I look at the event as both as a shopper and a designer (even though I do not create, I try to make sure that I understand both sides). I always try to go that one step further than I need to because I want both sides happy.” So what does Hartley think makes an event successful. She thought this was a tough question, “I am sure it is a question many event owners/managers ask themselves all the time. How do we make our event great? What can we do to improve it? This is something that I am always asking people, of what improvements they would like to see, I throw out surveys to our designers so we can hear their thoughts and work from there. We are always trying to be up-to-date or in-the-know, but it is no easy task. So I think really a great event happens because people work hard at it or never give up. I believe the key elements to any event is organization, shoppers, bloggers and the designers. All four of those things play a big role in any event, without shoppers we would have no designers.
