SOLAR FOR LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS The NSW Government is trialling a new way of helping people on low incomes reduce their electricity bills by installing 3 kilowatt solar systems on their homes. The program also aims to improve energy affordability by helping households unlock long term savings on their electricity bills, with expected savings of more than $300 per year. The trial is only available to up to 3000 low-income households in selected NSW regions, including the North Coast region and certain Byron Shire postcodes. HAVE YOUR SAY PLANNING PROPOSAL TO INTRODUCE MINIMUM LOT SIZE STANDARDS FOR ‘MANOR HOUSE’ AND ‘MULTI DWELLING HOUSING (TERRACES)’ The Planning Proposal to introduce minimum lot size standards for ‘manor house’ (residential flat building containing 3 or 4 dwellings) and ‘multi dwelling housing (terraces)’ is on exhibition for a period of 4 weeks from 23 October to 22 November 2019. The objective of this planning proposal is to amend Clause 4.1E of Byron LEP 2014 to insert minimum lot size standards for ‘manor houses’ and ‘multi dwelling housing (terraces)’. The planning proposal has been prepared to provide consistency with Council’s current low rise medium density controls for the R2 and R3 residential zones.

HAVE YOUR SAY APPLYING ENVIRONMENTAL ZONES (E ZONES) TO AMEND BYRON LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL PLAN (LEP) 2014 The second stage planning proposal to apply ‘landowner agreed’ E Zones and other LEP 2014 zones to approximately 600 properties is on public exhibition until 6 December 2019.

The following development applications (DA) have been received by Council and require exhibition in accordance with Development Control Plan 2014 (A14).
