ARTIST IN FOCUS

Noel Hart 2017 WILL BE

THE

arts

This year will see him have solo exhibitions in Europe and the USA, along with representation at art fairs in New York and Los Angeles, A N E V E N T F U L as well as group shows here in Australia. Widely known for his complex coloured glass sculptures and YEAR FOR abstracted paintings, Hart continues to push the boundaries in the process, and most recently in his use of coffee sacks as LO C A L A RT I ST blown-glass the starting point for his canvases. Research trips into the jungles of Costa Rica and Panama have N O E L H A RT. continued to fuel the content of both media. Hart’s continued acknowledgement of parrots in a conceptual context, in his blown-glass works, draws attention by his sophisticated use of colour and the colouring process he has devised. This has resulted in consistent international representation, as well as here in Australia. Interestingly the beauty in the colours, combined with the simple forms, defies the highly charged effort required to create each piece. Furnaces roaring and a team of five highly skilled assistants are required to work with him to create each glass piece. Based in the rainforest hinterland himself, Hart’s paintings are a reflection of his views about biodiversity and extinction, and his connection to natural world.
