ABOUT ME

I’m Echo Cheung and l’m a fresh graduate of Higher Diploma in Visual Communication (Information Design) at Hong Kong Design Institute. My personal qualities make me suited for the work. During the study, the tight courses and timetables have trained myself to be highly efficient in a short period of time. After being continuously criticized by my tutors, I can finish my works in a very stressful environment. Moreover, most works are personal projects and I had to handle projects independently from researching information to production. I have confidence in make a significant contribution to your company.

GRADUATION PROJECT The Ghosts Cultural Tour This project tried to link up some traditional ghosts’ stories to local heritage in Wan Chai. It’s called “百鬼尋屋記“. Same many heritages were demolished. Your ghost friends are became homeless and you need to find the new home in Wan Chai . It aimed to raise the awareness of balancing urban development and conservation. Promotional video would show in YouTube. The camera app has the identified tongue function. When people stick their tongues, the ghosts appear in the screen within 10 feet of building. Participants follow the (board game ) map to find the building. The story boxes describe the current historical building situation. They can also play the board game (map) to learn the history. July Chinese Calendar is the ghost festival. It does not only show the information about the historical buildings, but also show the data of the conservation of historical buildings report.

MOTION GRAPHIC The Story Of Scientist Echo The Motion Graphic promotes myself. I regard the design as an experiment.I continuously try and test in the process of design. Therefore, I played a scientist in the Motion Graphic, which shows my strengths and hobbies. The music is Skippy Toes by Rowcroft John and Light Speed by Clark Andy. The Time is 50 seconds.

WEBSITE DESIGN Nature Lands In this project, the website introduces the characters of Nature Land and camera app. People can know and contact them through button. Also, it appeals the sliderRollBox and sound effect. It can attract people to visit.

TYPOGRAPGY In this project, I create the E.T. typography. Each typeface has the light.

I use laser cut to create the Chinese typeface, like a E.T.’s fingers. Then, put the typeface on the door and turn on the light. This way can create the shadow.

BOOK DESIGN Barcelona The bilingual travel book introduces Barcelona. It is divided into three parts: Background, Sights andCulture. The main color is orange and black.

CHARACTER DESIGN Emoticons Nowadays, scholarismis a symbol of the Post-90’s. They like the cereus, which are brave. Therefore, I draw the emoticons about their characteristics: express their opinions, Hard-working, Public demonstrations, Concerned about society, Hard-working and Accept new things.

INFORMATION POSTER The Beach Water Quality The EPD monitored 41 gazetted beaches and three non-gazetted beaches in different parts of the territory. The gazetted beaches were monitored weekly during the bathing season from March to October, and EPD staff made field observations and collected samples for laboratory analyses of E. coli as the bacteriological water quality indicator.

PACKAGING DESIGN The bottle packaging aimed to promote the environment protection. The plastic can recycled into other products. That can reduce the number of rubbish.

WAYFINDING SYSTEM PHAB Camp-Contours “Contours” represents hill’s height. PHAB Camp locates in a hill 200m high. Also, the camp is near the nature. Therefore, we design a wayfinding system that relates the nature and contours. We hope that the visitors can commune with nature and feel comfortable in the camp through wayfinding system. In this project, We are required to : Improve the existing wayfinding system in Pokfulam PHAB Camp. This project allows us to promote PHAB image by providing an effective yet creative signage design for the organizers and visitors. Unlike the commercial signage design in shopping mall or hotel, this project also allows to drive your creativity to the borderline. Be experimental and have fun in the process.

REBRAND New Town Plaza New Town Plaza is the flagship Centre of Sun Hung Kai Properties with around 2 million sq. ft. of total floor area. That’s ranked number three in Hong Kong, includes Phase I, Phase III and HomeSquare. A collection of over 350 well-known international labels, boutiques and over 50 restaurants. The purpose is increasing plaza’s images and attracting the new target group. New town plaza needs to reposition and upgrade their brand. Also, it can give the consumer the new feeling and experience. Moreover, rebrand the mall can help to improve the image the mall and more focus on their focus group. It can attract more people to visit.

EVENT PROMOTION Love Bubble Our project holds at The Valentine’s Day (14th February). The project title is Love Bubble. Our target group is couple. We hope that the event can attract more couples come here. We decided to use the website, inviting card, poster and souvenir to promote this activity.

EXHIBITION DESIGN St. John’s Cathedral The exhibition shows the history of St. John’s Cathedral, which is the oldest surviving Western ecclesiastical building in Hong Kong. There are six zones including Introduction, History, Architectural features, Contribution, Traces of wars, Message board and Interaction room.
