THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

All of our courses are carefully created by a team of curriculum design specialists who make sure that your child receives top-quality language learning methodology and resources throughout their EC experience. Young Learner programmes are developed with our students’ success in mind, with a commitment to providing a strong foundation in the language that could launch them into future academic and professional success.

General English

Placement Test

Top Teachers

Real World Skills

All our Young Learner programmes include a course in General English.

On their first day, students sit a placement test to find out their level. The test assesses language proficiency, ensuring that each child is placed in a class with a group of students of the same ability. This means that students are able to learn effectively, develop skills at a comfortable pace, and progress alongside their friends in a friendly, positive atmosphere.

Every teacher is hand-picked by EC to ensure that your child is taught by dedicated professionals with the experience, qualifications, and positive attitude to guide them towards using English with fluency and confidence. Each student receives individual attention and is encouraged to participate in classroom activities and group projects.

Our students develop all 4 skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, with each lesson focusing on a different topic and covering language used in real-world contexts. Our Young Learners also benefit from countless opportunities to practise their newly-acquired skills outside of the classroom and during activities that tie into the topics covered in class.

Building confidence

All lessons and activities work together. Each week covers a different theme and what’s learnt in class is linked with activities outside of the classroom. That means learners get to use and practise their skills every single day!

Confidence & Success

Classroom Atmosphere

All EC teachers adopt a communicative approach to complement the variety of teaching methods employed to engage students, no matter the language level. Using a range of individual tasks and structured group work, students improve their English, increase confidence, and get the chance to activate the language points they’re learning.

Once your child’s experience has drawn to a close, they will receive an official EC certificate as proof and acknowledgement of the hard work and effort that it takes to complete their course. Every Young Learner returns home with greater confidence, improved fluency, and the core skills they need to speak English and succeed in a global community.

Lessons take place in beautifully bright, spacious classrooms. Students can move freely during group work and class activities, making friends and practising their communication skills in a casual, pleasant atmosphere. Every student has their own desk space, and classrooms are usually decorated with our students’ own colourful project work and assignments!

During Activities

All EC teachers are trained in child safety. Attendance is taken at the start of each lesson, and student behaviour is monitored to ensure that all our Young Learners enjoy positive and productive learning throughout their experience.

Our highly efficient administrative team is always on hand to guide and assist students during their time at the learning centre. Students feel at ease knowing that the EC team is available and ready to help with anything.

EC’s friendly and responsible social leaders supervise students on all excursions, and even take an active part in activities so that students feel engaged and involved throughout their learning experience with us.

At Home

Nutritious Meals

Our carefully-selected homestay providers and residence supervisors are responsible for students when they’re at their accommodation, making sure that our Young Learners are comfortable and curfews are followed each night.

With busy days typically packed with learning and activities, we make sure that students get nourishing food to keep them healthy and focused. All our programmes include both hot and cold meals, with any special dietary requirements catered for.

ACCOMMODATION

Our destinations offer a great choice of comfortable accommodation options. Young Learners can live like locals with a host family or share a room in a student residence or hotel.

Homestay

Residence

This unique option offers students the chance to stay in a local home and discover a different lifestyle and culture. Students can practise their language skills in a natural setting, while enjoying all the comforts and pleasures of a warm, welcoming home.

In a residence, Young Learners experience independence, learning to share facilities and meals with other students from all over the world. This is a fantastic way to make lots of friends and enjoy the freedom of learning abroad in an exciting new environment.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Let’s take a look at a typical day in the life of Tanja, a student from Austria enjoying the homestay programme in Malta.

14

07:00 Tanja wakes up in her cosy bedroom with the sun shining and an exciting day ahead!

07:30 She enjoys a nutritious breakfast while chatting with her host family.

08:00 A special EC bus picks Tanja up to take her to school for a fun-filled day.

09:00 Today’s lesson is about music, and Tanja works with her international classmates to complete a project about their favourite singers.

10:15 T anja spends her break time catching up with her friends before her next class.

12:15 Lunch time! Tanja has a choice of a fresh baguette, colourful salad, and a juicy cheeseburger. She decides on the cheeseburger.

13:15 T anja’s favourite social leader, Sarah, makes sure everyone is present and accounted for before heading off to their activity.

14:30 Today’s adventure takes Tanja and her friends to Mdina, where they enjoy a treasure hunt around the beautiful Silent City.

17:15 After a full day, Tanja sits down to a healthy meal of fish, fries, vegetables, and Maltese bread prepared by her host mother.

18:00 Time for Tanja to check in with her parents and tell them all about her day!

19:30 This evening, the students get to watch the fireworks at a traditional village feast. Tanja takes photos to share with her family!

23:00 Tanja hops into bed for a good night’s sleep before another awesome EC day.
