The Network IBP

The Network IBP (“Industrial Processes with Biogenic Building Blocks and Performance Proteins”) is a winner of the competition “BioIndustry 2021” sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The Network IBP is a consortium of academic and industrial partners who bring together their complementary skills to efficiently develop new processes and products in the sector of White Biotechnology. The Network IBP focuses on the manufacture of chemicals from renewable feedstocks

The Company

Dr. Wilfried Peters (molecular biologist, technical chemist) Project Leader

by a unique method called “sequential enzymatic hydrolysis” (“SEH”) and subsequent techniques, like anaerobic fermentation, metabolic engineering and “in process chemistry”. Residual material may be used for the production of energy. The Network IBP is subsidised with € 10 million from BMBF and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology of the Free State of Bavaria for its technical projects. This amount is matched by the industry partners.

Management of the Network IBP

BioM WB GmbH pursues the establishment of an international network of White Biotechnology. The network includes distinguished academic research institutions, innovative biotechnological SMEs and renowned large chemical companies.

BioM WB GmbH is funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology of the Free State of Bavaria, by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as well as by the globally operating chemical companies Wacker Chemie AG and Süd-Chemie AG. BioM WB GmbH works closely with the Bavarian Biotechnology Cluster and supports the “Allianz Bayern Innovativ”, an initiative of the Bavarian Government.
