Public Sector Efficiency - A Need to Evolve the Public Sector The advancements in media, information technology and globalization have not impacted the public sector as much as it should have. Developments in these fields have shown that public sector of any country has a huge potential to evolve and grow. With its hypercompetitive global commerce and financial interdependence, this sector is an important part of the overall global community. The glorious economic changes that has taken place coupled with the financial downswing that existed for a while, suggests that the global economy is entwined with the public sector. These thought provoking issues point towards the dangerous risks that might take place if we do not put our efforts for an evolved society. Therefore, there needs to be more initiatives in order to promote public sector efficiency. Presently, there is an urgent need to rationalize and modernize this sector as this can result in producing new public services as well as maintain the existing ones. This will also result in the rise of public infrastructure contributing to the welfare of society and pave the path for future business travel expenses opportunities for citizens. This is time to incorporate some significant changes resulting in public sector efficiency. An important aspect here is reduction in the operating costs. Public services are said to tackle an excess of processes catering to workflow which further depend on external groups. There are innovative after sales process designed by certain global names that help in automating interaction amongst and within various parties. This facilitates in implementing administrative tasks, thereby creating free time for citizens to get involved in value network added services. At present, IT initiatives are being taken for generating public sector efficiency. • Majority of IT giants belonging to public sector are concentrating on establishing IT infrastructure and other peripherals. Focus is on technical implementation that is carried on by the enterprises’ own IT team or by outsourced IT consultants. To explain the same, let us take an example of a county public body known locally, where you can have various systems for specialized causes. • A maximum part of public IT budget is dedicated for maintaining existing IT systems as well to procure more, to support future projects. • Efforts are also taken to improve the technical know-how of these systems amongst the working staff through training sessions.

Gradually, more and more enterprises are realizing the need to develop the public sector. Public sector efficiency is all about realizing and pooling in the potential that rests in this sector resulting in greater economic growth.
