FROM THE PRESIDENT
The PA farewelled two hardworking members in 2015 which was quite emotional as we developed strong friendships with our fellow committee members! Special thanks to Tracey Stone and Anna D’Rosario for their years of enthusiastic involvement in the Association! We have had a very positive response to recruiting new members - our committee has new members who are proving to be loads of fun and eager to be involved in 2016.
The year started with great enthusiasm. A record number of mums and daughters attended our Mother Daughter breakfast. We moved to Sebastian Hall at the last minute to cater for over three hundred guests. It was a lovely morning. We are busy preparing for our annual fundraising event: The Amazing Red Star Night at Milano’s in Brighton on 30 July. A more formal evening, the night will be a chance to catch up with parents you know or meet new parents in the Star community! We look forward to seeing you there. Leanne Danielson MOTHER DAUGHTER BREAKFAST

Star’s annual Mother Daughter breakfast was held at the College on 4 May. Guest speaker was Claire Quin (Bourke - 1983). Claire was appointed as a judge of the County Court of Victoria in February 2014. As reported in The Star in June 2014, Judge Quin joined her older sister, Judge Katherine Bourke, more than six years after her elevation to the bench: “a sister act that decrees a Victorian - if not an Australian - judicial first”. Claire gave an inspiring speech about the benefits of her education at Star which paved the way for her illustrious career at the Bar and later as a County Court Judge.
