Girls Just Wanna Have Fun-Damental Rights…

Our favourite element of this year’s theme – See Amazing - is that it is worded as “see” amazing and not “be” amazing.

This is particularly profound as it communicates that the ability to recognise the amazing, individual qualities of other humans is regarded more highly than presenting this “amazing” version of yourself which may not be true to whom you really are. Our 2016 message correlates with, and further enhances, the See Amazing theme. We have named this year’s goal Girls Just Wanna Have Fun-Damental Rights. Our priority is to break down the stigma attached to the feminist movement as being a group that “hates men”, to empower ourselves as females that accept treatment equal to our male counterparts, and be inspired by amazing, strong women in society. We believe there is nothing more powerful or profound than a group of women who are well-informed and fight for the changes they want to see in the world. This is why we have chosen the feminist movement to be a central inspiration for our year. Through this, we do not want to exclude men from our feminist conversation. We only want to continue to strive for equality and, hopefully, inspire you to share the same passion and get just as excited as we are for the year ahead!
