Look! New Windows Can be a Reality!

Every time there is talk about upgrades to the church building, windows come up in the discussion. The aluminum frame, single pane windows do not provide adequate insulation in cold Michigan winters, and with ever increasing utility costs, the winter heating bills keep going up. Many of the latches are broken as well with no replacement parts available. New windows can be a reality! The Trustees have spent several months gathering information, and have listened to many suggestions and questions. In the coming weeks you will be hearing and receiving information about how you can be a part of this great upgrade and energy saving opportunity. You are encouraged to begin praying about how God would have you be involved.

JOY Group Visits Delta Planetarium Wednesday, February 22 The JOY Group is heading to the Delta Planetarium on Wednesday, February 22. We will leave from the church at 12 Noon for a 12:30 showing. Lunch will follow at the Rudy’s Red Lion. The cost for the Planetarium is $5 per person, and lunch is Dutch treat. Please mark your welcome Card on Sunday mornings or call the church office to sign up.

The Lighthouse Pastor Richard’s Ramblings I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for very generous Christmas gifts. In our current study in Philippians I have shared that Paul wrote the letter to the Church in Philippi to express his appreciation for their generosity. I think it is one of the reasons that he repeats over and over in the letter that they are such a joy to him. In chapter four, he writes, They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God (4.18). Your generous gifts are filled with that same kind of grace. And I pray that you may experience, as Paul expresses, my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus(4.19), because of your gifts. These gifts are usually how we afford Christmas gifts for our children, and this year was no different. Our television was going out, and though we do not watch regular programing, the kids do play a lot of Wii (Lego Star Wars is their obsession!) and watch movies. They now have a new TV! We also gave them their own spending money for a special trip to the Lego store at Water Tower Place Mall in Chicago. That became part of our holiday vacation time to visit my family in Illinois. We are filled with joy for much more than these types of gifts. Paul also writes in the letter to the Philippians about his greatest joy: because of your partnership in the gospel

form the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus(1.5-6). My prayer is that the partnership in the gospel will be the greatest joy that we will continue to share in the days ahead.

Calling all Choir Members Jane would like the choir to sing for special music in the Worship Service on Sunday, February, 19. There will be rehearsals on two Thursday evenings, February 9 and 16, at 7:00 pm. If you like to sing, here is your chance! Talk to Jane if you need to know more! Page 2

Here’s a thought, what about BECOMING THE MOM YOU WANT TO BE? Some of us grew up with terrific mothers and some of us grew up in dysfunctional families, whatever your experience was, now is the time to determine what kind of mom you want to be and the legacy you want to leave. On Wednesday evenings, moms of all ages meet weekly in the church library from 6-7:30 pm. We use the book titled “The mom I want to be” we’ll share, learn, laugh and discover what God’s word teaches about our special role of mothering. So bring your kids for Adventure Club and stay for your mommy group! Have a friend you think would be interested? Bring them along! If you have any questions, please see Nicole LeVasseur or call 989-895-4497. Page 5
