Workshops Dance Comedy

WELCOME The sun may be shining outside (hopefully!) but there will be plenty of talent shining inside the Brewhouse. Our Summer season is packed full of performances from our fantastic local companies and schools as well as our ‘Brought to Burton’ shows (look out for the stamp in the brochure and try something new). This season is all about bringing some magic and amazing stories to Burton; from stories of identity and faith with The Thelma’s brilliant ‘Coconut’, brought to us by our partners at Derby Theatre and In Good Company, to our Once Upon a Wednesdays monthly story telling nights for grown ups, as well as some famous tales from the big screen with Red Ladder theatre company presenting ‘The Damned United’ on the Brewhouse stage for the first time. If you are looking for something to keep the little ones entertained then come along to Tom Adams story and magic show ‘My Dad the Magician’ for Ages 6+ and their grown ups. Not forgetting fantastic famous tales from our resident local companies with The Mellow Dramatics presenting ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ and Little Theatre Company bringing the West End hit ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ to the Brewhouse stage for the very first time! Don’t forget to check out our workshop programme, with a whole host of weekly activities for young people plus some fantastic activities to keep everyone busy during the Summer holidays! There’s something for everyone to enjoy at the Brewhouse! We look forward to welcoming you!

Once Upon A Wednesday

Jan Blake: Old Women £6 in advance (£8 on the door) • Cafe Bar Storytelling Nights for Grown Ups Don’t be beguiled by that harmless looking exterior, those twinkly eyes and the quaint old ways. With a good dose of powerful geriatric magic & transformation Jan Blake gets down to the business of what happens when we misjudge our elders. Don’t mess with a little old woman. Come early to indulge in delicious homemade cakes and coffee.

Simon Evans

Genius £14 • Auditorium Ever since he was a small boy, all Evans really wanted was to be recognised by the world as a man of genius. He has, until now, remained thwarted. The world seems increasingly indifferent to true genius of any kind, let alone Evans’. Endlessly distracted by the trivial, we allow the classical tools of grammar, logic and rhetoric to lie unregarded in the shed of consciousness, rusting to a picturesque hue that would actually look really great on Instagram. But which filter? Hmmm…

PLEASE CLAP

JEB BUSH Simon is well known to the British comedy-going public from TV shows such as Live at the Apollo and Stand Up for the Week, and as a regular on BBC Radio 4, where his own hugely successful, acclaimed radio show Simon Evans Goes To Market returns for a fourth series in Spring 2018. ‘A masterclass in socio-political comedy…The Show is called Genius. It comes very close’ ***** The Scotsman Ages 14+ (Parental Guidance) Likely to be swearing and adult content
