Christian Life Center

Mission: The purpose of the CLC is to be a center of activity where the love of Jesus Christ is shown through Christian fellowship in a safe, engaging and Holy environment where the community can come together and particpate in recreational programs and utilize our facilities so that we may uplift one another spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. To glorify God by reaching out to those around us to help encourage, develop, and nurture relationships with and faith in Jesus Christ.

Accomplishments in 2019:

• Excellent staff provided warm and friendly greetings and an encouraging atmosphere to guests of the CLC • Provided take home verses in the entryway and a prayer board on the walking track for encouragement to guests • Advertised church activities at the front desk, in classes, on the hall screens, and throughout the building • Purchased and installed bumper pads on basketball goals • Developed new CLC membership forms with a scholarship option • Updated CLC fitness center hours of operation • Approved and implemented (with diaconate and session approval) a $60 annual usage fee for guests of the CLC fitness center who are not church members • Revised and implemented (with diaconate and session approval) a new basketball policy limiting the number of youth teams and mandating participation in a single league (rather than splitting teams between two leagues) • Updated the FOB database & implemented new FOB guidelines • Purchased and installed two bikes for the fitness area • Hosted the CORE retreat in March with approximately 250 participants • Provided an average of 17 exercise classes a week for the community • Provided work space for physical trainers to serve members of the church and community • Met with various users of the CLC to get feedback on policies and programming • Recruited volunteers for the front desk • Hosted over 375 youth basketball players • Hosted December 15 blood drive • Provided space for EDS, the drop in nursery, various youth programming, Sunday School, drop in basketball, church lunches and dinners • Hosted over 200 adult basketball players from 3 leagues • Provided storage space for Troop 10 • Cleaned out the game room storage areas • Maintained equipment in fitness area • Organized and met with focus group to help determine the mission of the CLC • Reviewed and insured completion of applicable 2020 goals • Encouraged use of CLC for faith-based activities that nurture spiritual, social, and physical growth • Approved building and installation of new cabinetry in 271-273 to store fitness equipment

Goals for 2020:

• Remain open to following the Holy Spirit’s direction for the CLC • Work with Douglass Key on implementing the vision and mission of the CLC • Hire a full-time CLC director • Focus on improvement of game room area • Research replacing vending machines with water machines or removing vending machines • Research adding a water bottle station to the Game Room area • Research best use and placement of front desk • Implement new $60 charge and scholarship options for guests of the CLC who are not members of EPC • Provide new and continued opportunities for spiritual, physical, and social development • Monitor basketball policy and adjust as needed • Research best practice for maintaining fitness equipment • Review and consider recommendations from the Dreaming and Discernment process • Provide support for the CORE retreat March 6-7
