Lunches: Please remember to pack lunches, snacks and drinks that will not spoil. Please be sensitive to any food allergies that may be brought to your attention. All East Gwillimbury camps strive to be “peanut free”, please do not send peanut products with your child. Clothing / Sunscreen: Campers should wear comfortable clothing. As we are outdoors part of the day, it is advised that hats and sunscreen be worn. A knapsack with your child’s name is advisable. Please label your child’s items so that lost belongings can be identified. Campers are advised not to bring valuables to camp as they are responsible for their own belongings.

ABSENTEEISM If you know in advance that your child will be absent please send a note to the camp supervisor or contact Recreation Services at 905-478-3826. Camp supervisors will call home on a daily basis to confirm absenteeism that the camp has not been advised of.

MEDICAL INFORMATION SPECIAL NEEDS Please ensure that all medical concerns and/or special needs required by campers are completely documented on the camp registration form. We are dedicated to providing positive integrated camp experiences for all campers. Should your child require support, we do our best to arrange for assistance through one of our staff or C.I.T. volunteers. Please inform us if your child has an Epi-pen or medication. Please contact the Recreation Assistant for more information at 905-478-4282 ext. 1402.

STAFF Our summer camp staff are selected on the basis on past experience, skills, enthusiasm and the ability to work with children. All of our staff must attend a mandatory staff training session, where we cover such topics as leadership, motivation, teamwork, policies and procedures, as well as the specifics about our particular camp programs and our expectations of staff. All of our staff are certified in First Aid and C.P.R. prior to commencing employment with us. We encourage all staff to have a L.I.T. certificate and volunteer experience.

Alternatively, a printed registration form is available on Page 18 of the Spring & Summer Parks, Recreation and Culture Guide. Once completed, the form can be mailed, faxed (905478-8090) or dropped off at the Parks & Recreation Services Office, located at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex, 1914B Mount Albert Road, Sharon L0G 1V0. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-8:30pm, with reduced hours to 4:30pm in the Summer. • Online and faxed registrations must be paid by credit card. • Mailed registrations can be paid by credit card or cheque made out to the Town of East Gwillimbury. REFUND POLICIES Full refund – If a program is cancelled prior to the session beginning, you will be contacted by telephone and issued a full refund. All registrations will be refunded by cheque. Partial refund – You will receive a partial refund if a written request, accompanied by a receipt (confirmation letter), is received by Recreation Services one week prior to the start of the program. Refunds will be deducted the $15.00 administration fee. No

administration fee will be charged if the child is transferred to an upcoming session. We regret that we are unable to reimburse funds once a session has commenced. Medical – Medical reasons will be considered by the office if a written request, medical note, and receipt (confirmation letter) are received by Recreation Services before the session ends. You will only receive a refund for the missed days minus a $15.00 administration fee. Please allow 3-5 weeks for the processing of your refund.

COUNSELLOR IN TRAINING (C.I.T.) VOLUNTEER PROGRAM This is a volunteer program for teens who have some experience working with children or for those who have completed the LIT program. CIT’s must volunteer for a minimum of 2 weeks during the summer, with the opportunity to volunteer for additional weeks. Every effort will be made to accommodate their first camp choice however it is not guaranteed. The focus of this program is to develop their skills, participating in all aspects of camp and dive in as a member of the camp team! Due to the large volume of volunteers, unfortunately not all volunteer applicants may be accepted or interviewed.

EG E G S Summer UMMER c Camps amps 2 2014 014 JR. CAMP — 4-6 years This camp is perfect for the first time camper. Campers will play different games and sports throughout the day and participate in various arts & crafts activities. Campers can even dress up on the theme days! Jr. Camp will also get visits from special guests each week; guests might include a Magician, Emergency Services, Animal Friends and more! HISTORY EXPLORERS — 6-9 years Spend the week traveling through time at the Sharon Temple National Historic Site. Learn about the history in your own backyard from the First Nations through to World War I. Each day features a variety of activities, crafts, and games based on a different era. Come join the fun! This camp is run in partnership by the Sharon Temple. ACTING OUT! CAMP — 6-10 years This camp is run in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Company. This dynamic and interactive performance camp features a variety of fast-paced workshops such as: Puppets on Stage, Mad Hatters, Clowning Around, Improv Showcase, Extreme Stage Makeover and more! Taught in a fun and creative way, children will be introduced to the joys of the performing arts while they gain confidence and allow their vibrant personalities to flourish. KIDS CAMP — 6-10 years This Camp is for children who love variety in their day! Campers will participate in traditional camp activities like games, sports, arts & crafts, and more! Special weekly activities will include skating, water day as well as a special guest or out-trip. Special guests or out-trips might include mini putting, bowling, an arts and crafts guest or animal friends.

TECH CAMP — 6-11 years Experience the world of electronics and robotics in this interactive and fun camp! Kids will build electronic and robotic projects using electronic components, wheels, gears and motors! Each day will include technology activities, experiments, indoor and outdoor games. Children will gain hands-on experience and age-appropriate theory in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. At the end of the day we will have a display of the projects and experiments of the day. All educational materials used in this camp are for in camp use only. This camp is run in partnership with Kids Love Tech Inc. ARTS & CRAFTS CAMP — 6-12 years Arts & Crafts camp allows campers to use their creative talents in a variety of ways. Each day campers will get the opportunity to create different projects such as: watercolour paintings, jewelry, clay figures, sketches and much more! Be prepared, campers will get to take home everything they make to show their families! Campers will also have a special activity each week, maybe a trip to an art gallery or have an artist come in and teach campers new techniques! NATURE CAMP — 6-12 years Does your camper like being outside and looking for bugs? Does your camper like using nature to create crafts? Does your camper like nature walks? This is the perfect camp for them! Campers will get the chance to discover all that nature has to offer. Campers will also get to go on out trips, maybe a trip to a local Conservation area or have animal friends come and visit camp!

SPORTS & MORE CAMP — 6-12 years Is your camper full of energy? Does your camper like different sports? Every day campers get to play a variety of sports, games and activities. Some sports & activities include; the bouldering wall, floor hockey, basketball, team building activities and weekly skating. Campers will also get to participate in a weekly sports themed out-trip or visit from a special guest. TENNIS / KIDS CAMP COMBO — 6-12 years This camp combines our Tennis Camp and Kids Camp to create a full day camp. Campers will begin their day at Tennis Camp and will be walked to Kids Camp for lunch and the afternoon. Campers using before care or busing will be walked out to Tennis Camp. TENNIS CAMP — 6-14 years Beginners will learn the basics of forehand, backhand, serve, and volley. For intermediates, groundstroke and service spins, as well as the volley, lob, and overhead. For the advanced, singles and doubles strategies. Lessons will be lead by a qualified instructor. The student/ instructor ratio is 8:1. Raquets and balls will be supplied. Please bring drinks daily. Camp runs from Monday - Thursday (Friday is used as a rain day if needed) HOCKEY CAMP — 8-14 years Campers will concentrate on the fundamentals of skating, shooting and accuracy also when and why to use certain shots. A game will be played at the end of the week matching player’s age, size and skills level. Full hockey equipment required. Limit of three goalies per session. Separate camps available for both Rep Players and House League Players.

SILVER LAKES GOLF CAMP — 8-14 years This exciting camp will offer the camper an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf under the direction of a Golf Pro. Morning will have campers receiving golf instruction, then break for lunch (provided by Silver Lakes). The afternoon you will have a lesson review and continue with an afternoon of golf and golf related activities. ADVENTURE CAMP — 9-13 years This camp is suited for the camper who is looking for adventure! Each week will involve a variety of activities, sports & games like slack lining, capture the flag, Amazing Race / Survivor and more. Out trips might include Rock Climbing or High Ropes, just to name a couple. FINALE CAMP — 4-12 years This is the last week of fun and excitement! Campers get to play their favourite games from the summer, along with some arts & crafts, cooking and exciting activities. Campers will be able to participate in theme days, as well as special activities such as skating! Campers will be split into age appropriate groups. NOTE: Busing will not be provided for Finale Camp. Before care (7:30am-9am) and after care (4pm-6pm) is included in the camp fee.

LEADER IN TRAINING PROGRAM (L.I.T.) — 13+ This 2 week program is an introduction to leadership development. During the first week participants are “in class” learning how to program plan, policies and procedures, communication and teamwork with staff and campers. The second week is a placement into one of our camps where participants will be able to develop their skills further with the direction from the camp staff. It is mandatory that the L.I.T.’s complete their placement as they will be evaluated on their performance.

EG E G S Summer UMMER c Camps amps 2 2014 014 JR. CAMP — 4-6 years This camp is perfect for the first time camper. Campers will play different games and sports throughout the day and participate in various arts & crafts activities. Campers can even dress up on the theme days! Jr. Camp will also get visits from special guests each week; guests might include a Magician, Emergency Services, Animal Friends and more! HISTORY EXPLORERS — 6-9 years Spend the week traveling through time at the Sharon Temple National Historic Site. Learn about the history in your own backyard from the First Nations through to World War I. Each day features a variety of activities, crafts, and games based on a different era. Come join the fun! This camp is run in partnership by the Sharon Temple. ACTING OUT! CAMP — 6-10 years This camp is run in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Company. This dynamic and interactive performance camp features a variety of fast-paced workshops such as: Puppets on Stage, Mad Hatters, Clowning Around, Improv Showcase, Extreme Stage Makeover and more! Taught in a fun and creative way, children will be introduced to the joys of the performing arts while they gain confidence and allow their vibrant personalities to flourish. KIDS CAMP — 6-10 years This Camp is for children who love variety in their day! Campers will participate in traditional camp activities like games, sports, arts & crafts, and more! Special weekly activities will include skating, water day as well as a special guest or out-trip. Special guests or out-trips might include mini putting, bowling, an arts and crafts guest or animal friends.

TECH CAMP — 6-11 years Experience the world of electronics and robotics in this interactive and fun camp! Kids will build electronic and robotic projects using electronic components, wheels, gears and motors! Each day will include technology activities, experiments, indoor and outdoor games. Children will gain hands-on experience and age-appropriate theory in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. At the end of the day we will have a display of the projects and experiments of the day. All educational materials used in this camp are for in camp use only. This camp is run in partnership with Kids Love Tech Inc. ARTS & CRAFTS CAMP — 6-12 years Arts & Crafts camp allows campers to use their creative talents in a variety of ways. Each day campers will get the opportunity to create different projects such as: watercolour paintings, jewelry, clay figures, sketches and much more! Be prepared, campers will get to take home everything they make to show their families! Campers will also have a special activity each week, maybe a trip to an art gallery or have an artist come in and teach campers new techniques! NATURE CAMP — 6-12 years Does your camper like being outside and looking for bugs? Does your camper like using nature to create crafts? Does your camper like nature walks? This is the perfect camp for them! Campers will get the chance to discover all that nature has to offer. Campers will also get to go on out trips, maybe a trip to a local Conservation area or have animal friends come and visit camp!

SPORTS & MORE CAMP — 6-12 years Is your camper full of energy? Does your camper like different sports? Every day campers get to play a variety of sports, games and activities. Some sports & activities include; the bouldering wall, floor hockey, basketball, team building activities and weekly skating. Campers will also get to participate in a weekly sports themed out-trip or visit from a special guest. TENNIS / KIDS CAMP COMBO — 6-12 years This camp combines our Tennis Camp and Kids Camp to create a full day camp. Campers will begin their day at Tennis Camp and will be walked to Kids Camp for lunch and the afternoon. Campers using before care or busing will be walked out to Tennis Camp. TENNIS CAMP — 6-14 years Beginners will learn the basics of forehand, backhand, serve, and volley. For intermediates, groundstroke and service spins, as well as the volley, lob, and overhead. For the advanced, singles and doubles strategies. Lessons will be lead by a qualified instructor. The student/ instructor ratio is 8:1. Raquets and balls will be supplied. Please bring drinks daily. Camp runs from Monday - Thursday (Friday is used as a rain day if needed) HOCKEY CAMP — 8-14 years Campers will concentrate on the fundamentals of skating, shooting and accuracy also when and why to use certain shots. A game will be played at the end of the week matching player’s age, size and skills level. Full hockey equipment required. Limit of three goalies per session. Separate camps available for both Rep Players and House League Players.

SILVER LAKES GOLF CAMP — 8-14 years This exciting camp will offer the camper an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf under the direction of a Golf Pro. Morning will have campers receiving golf instruction, then break for lunch (provided by Silver Lakes). The afternoon you will have a lesson review and continue with an afternoon of golf and golf related activities. ADVENTURE CAMP — 9-13 years This camp is suited for the camper who is looking for adventure! Each week will involve a variety of activities, sports & games like slack lining, capture the flag, Amazing Race / Survivor and more. Out trips might include Rock Climbing or High Ropes, just to name a couple. FINALE CAMP — 4-12 years This is the last week of fun and excitement! Campers get to play their favourite games from the summer, along with some arts & crafts, cooking and exciting activities. Campers will be able to participate in theme days, as well as special activities such as skating! Campers will be split into age appropriate groups. NOTE: Busing will not be provided for Finale Camp. Before care (7:30am-9am) and after care (4pm-6pm) is included in the camp fee.

LEADER IN TRAINING PROGRAM (L.I.T.) — 13+ This 2 week program is an introduction to leadership development. During the first week participants are “in class” learning how to program plan, policies and procedures, communication and teamwork with staff and campers. The second week is a placement into one of our camps where participants will be able to develop their skills further with the direction from the camp staff. It is mandatory that the L.I.T.’s complete their placement as they will be evaluated on their performance.

Important Important C Camp amp IInfo nfo FIRST DAY OF CAMP Each camper will be provided a camp newsletter on the first day of camp. This letter will outline the camp activities for the week. Lunches: Please remember to pack lunches, snacks and drinks that will not spoil. Please be sensitive to any food allergies that may be brought to your attention. All East Gwillimbury camps strive to be “peanut free”, please do not send peanut products with your child. Clothing / Sunscreen: Campers should wear comfortable clothing. As we are outdoors part of the day, it is advised that hats and sunscreen be worn. A knapsack with your child’s name is advisable. Please label your child’s items so that lost belongings can be identified. Campers are advised not to bring valuables to camp as they are responsible for their own belongings.

ABSENTEEISM If you know in advance that your child will be absent please send a note to the camp supervisor or contact Recreation Services at 905-478-3826. Camp supervisors will call home on a daily basis to confirm absenteeism that the camp has not been advised of.

MEDICAL INFORMATION SPECIAL NEEDS Please ensure that all medical concerns and/or special needs required by campers are completely documented on the camp registration form. We are dedicated to providing positive integrated camp experiences for all campers. Should your child require support, we do our best to arrange for assistance through one of our staff or C.I.T. volunteers. Please inform us if your child has an Epi-pen or medication. Please contact the Recreation Assistant for more information at 905-478-4282 ext. 1402.

STAFF Our summer camp staff are selected on the basis on past experience, skills, enthusiasm and the ability to work with children. All of our staff must attend a mandatory staff training session, where we cover such topics as leadership, motivation, teamwork, policies and procedures, as well as the specifics about our particular camp programs and our expectations of staff. All of our staff are certified in First Aid and C.P.R. prior to commencing employment with us. We encourage all staff to have a L.I.T. certificate and volunteer experience.

REGISTRATIONS For your convenience, registrations may be completed online at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/ireg. Alternatively, a printed registration form is available on Page 18 of the Spring & Summer Parks, Recreation and Culture Guide. Once completed, the form can be mailed, faxed (905478-8090) or dropped off at the Parks & Recreation Services Office, located at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex, 1914B Mount Albert Road, Sharon L0G 1V0. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-8:30pm, with reduced hours to 4:30pm in the Summer. • Online and faxed registrations must be paid by credit card. • Mailed registrations can be paid by credit card or cheque made out to the Town of East Gwillimbury. Do not send cash through the mail. • Dropped off registrations can be paid by credit card, cheque, debit or cash. All NSF cheques will be subject to a $25.00 administration/ penalty fee. A confirmation letter with the start date, location, and time of your camp will be mailed to each participant. Please call us if you have not received this letter prior to the first day of your session. Keep this letter as your official receipt for income tax purposes.

LATE REGISTRATIONS / DISCOUNTS Registrations that come in after a session has begun will not be pro-rated. The following discounts are applicable to our Summer Camp 2014 programs: Third and subsequent Child(ren): When there are 3 or more children in the same family taking part in the same session of summer camp, the third and subsequent child(ren) will receive a 15% discount on the lesser camp registration.(Excluding Busing Fee and Extended Hours.)

REFUND POLICIES Full refund – If a program is cancelled prior to the session beginning, you will be contacted by telephone and issued a full refund. All registrations will be refunded by cheque. Partial refund – You will receive a partial refund if a written request, accompanied by a receipt (confirmation letter), is received by Recreation Services one week prior to the start of the program. Refunds will be deducted the $15.00 administration fee. No

administration fee will be charged if the child is transferred to an upcoming session. We regret that we are unable to reimburse funds once a session has commenced. Medical – Medical reasons will be considered by the office if a written request, medical note, and receipt (confirmation letter) are received by Recreation Services before the session ends. You will only receive a refund for the missed days minus a $15.00 administration fee. Please allow 3-5 weeks for the processing of your refund.

COUNSELLOR IN TRAINING (C.I.T.) VOLUNTEER PROGRAM This is a volunteer program for teens who have some experience working with children or for those who have completed the LIT program. CIT’s must volunteer for a minimum of 2 weeks during the summer, with the opportunity to volunteer for additional weeks. Every effort will be made to accommodate their first camp choice however it is not guaranteed. The focus of this program is to develop their skills, participating in all aspects of camp and dive in as a member of the camp team! Due to the large volume of volunteers, unfortunately not all volunteer applicants may be accepted or interviewed.
