When it came time to make a college decision, my mom sat with me at the kitchen counter and asked what kind of person I wanted to become. In that moment, my choice became clear. I embarked on my journey at Eastern University because of the academic excellence, the breathtaking campus, and environment of discipleship. Where else would you find professors who ask hard questions, challenge you intellectually, and pray for you? Through the work of these incredible professors and engaging community, I have been challenged to think, live, and love well. I am a better person for attending Eastern.

FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear future Eastern Student, Choosing a college is perhaps the most significant decision that you have been faced with up to this point in your life. It is a momentous decision and one not to be taken lightly. Where you will study not only impacts what sort of degree and job you will obtain, but who you will become along the way. Eastern University has a distinctive mission and approach that provides the highest level of education in a vibrant Christian community. Ask our thousands of graduates and they will vouch for us: Eastern not only provides an exceptional academic education so that you can reach your vocational goals, but it also transforms the way you think about the world and its great needs. Here at Eastern, we are committed to giving you the tools you need to succeed in your future occupation, but our educational process does not stop there. We seek to equip a new generation of students who want to change the world from what it is into what it ought to be. Whether your aim is to become a doctor, teacher, social worker, lawyer, physical therapist, entrepreneur, musician, engineer, youth pastor, nurse, or even if you have no idea quite yet what you would like to study, we implore you to ask who you want to be. You are about to enter the most defining years of your life. We would be honored if you would invite Eastern University to join you in that process. Come visit us. Meet our exceptional students. Talk with one of our faculty members. Walk our beautiful campus. I think you will find yourself welcome and inspired. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Eastern University is raising up a new generation of missional Christians who know that the most critical question may not be ‘Am I going to be a doctor or a lawyer?’ but rather, ‘What kind of doctor or lawyer am I going to be?’

Eastern is a unique blend of the intellectual, practical, social and spiritual composing one clear message - use the brain and the heart God gave you and live out the Gospel.

Eastern University offers on-campus academic support, tutoring, writing services, counseling, and disability services for all undergraduate students.

Choosing Eastern was the best choice I could have ever made. The teacher-student relationship is personal and the teaching styles are just phenomenal. No class is just a lecture, it’s an interaction. You’ll leave every day with a new question on your mind, like ‘What is the best way to help the poor? How should a government be run to best benefit the people? Is it ever okay to trade freedom for necessity?’ But don’t just take my word for it. Come sit in on a class, we’d love to have your ideas in our discourse! RYAN MARTIN ’15 POLITICAL SCIENCE MAJOR

TEMPLETON HONORS COLLEGE Great Books. Great Conversations. Great Lives.

The Templeton Honors College offers a rigorous liberal arts education grounded in the Western tradition while students simultaneously study for their major at Eastern. With small class sizes, a cohort style of learning, and an expectation of excellence, students join an ancient and ongoing debate, reading and discussing the Great Books with engaging professors.

WILSON GOODE SCHOLARS PROGRAM The Goode Scholars Program offers service-minded, future community leaders the opportunity to prepare for leadership roles in their homes, schools, churches and communities.

Templeton not only prepares students for a future career, but challenges them to be people of virtue. The Honors College has taught me how to wrestle with questions such as ‘What is justice?’ and ‘What does it mean to live a good life?’ I have learned that learning is not always about finding the correct answers, but about being satisfied with the ability to ask better questions–questions that will lead me in the direction of God’s Kingdom on Earth. One of the most powerful takeaways from my study abroad experience was not the sights I saw or the great food or different culture, but instead the relationships I formed with other students as well as the locals in Israel. DIVERSITY WITHIN COMMUNITY Eastern aspires to a uniquely Christian view of community where people commit themselves to the concept of reconciliation, of living and learning together, for the good of faith, reason and justice. The desire of those who live and work here is to enact social change that puts the world on notice. Waking up the world starts by waking up to the world. A great place to start is right here at Eastern University where lasting global friendships form by reaching across the spaces that divide us to make the world a better place for all.

The culture at Eastern encouraged me to have those difficult and honest conversations about faith, purity, prejudice, brokenness... I was empowered and challenged, and I’m so grateful for the experiences, the conversations and the relationships that began here. ROBYN HOLT ’11, THEOLOGY MAJOR
