Employment & Training Clinical Medical Assistant Program – 140 Classroom Hours w/ a Clinical Externship This program is intended for students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program will train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. This program includes 140 hours of classroom lecture, hands-on labs and a clinical externship opportunity at a local
Dental Assisting Program The 60-hour Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry-level positions in one of the fastest growing health care positions – dental assisting. The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in a dental practice. This course covers the following administrative key areas and topics: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; and policies and guidelines. Dialysis Technician Program This 50-hour Dialysis Technician Program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties required of dialysis technicians. Under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses, dialysis technicians operate kidney dialysis machines, prepare dialyzer reprocessing and delivery systems, and maintain and repair equipment. Furthermore, technicians work with patients during dialysis procedures to monitor and record vital signs, and administer local anesthetics and drugs as needed. Additionally, they may also be involved in training patients for at-home dialysis treatment. NOTE: This program does not include a national or state certification as part of its overall objectives. Physical Therapy Aide Program This comprehensive, 50-hour Physical Therapy Aide Program prepares students for the growing field of Physical Therapy. Working under the direction of a physical therapist, a physical therapy aide is generally responsible for carrying out the non-technical duties of physical therapy, such as preparing treatment areas, ordering devices and supplies, and transporting patients. Furthermore, these workers assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Physical therapy aides may be employed in nursing homes, hospitals, sports rehabilitation centers and some orthopedic clinics. Kids Corner Dance Around the World! Culture and Connection! Come join our professional working artists as they help you child explore various cultures through African dance, Israeli dance, Latin dance and Korean Hip-Hop! Dances consist of both modern and traditional styles. Stories, traditions, and the history of each culture will also be presented in an interesting, hands-on format that creates connections while firing up the imagination. Options to Earn a Diploma g CDP (Credit Diploma Program) This free program offers students options for earning credits toward a high
school diploma. In addition to granting credit for classroom courses and distance learning, students (17 and older) may be awarded credits for a variety of life experiences, such as military service and various vocational trainings. An EASTCONN High School Diploma is granted upon successful completion of the program.
(General Educational Development) The CT State Diploma
This free course prepares students to pass the State of Connecticut-administered General Educational Development (GED) exam. Writing, math, science, social studies, and reading are covered in the curriculum. The course is designed to offer students, ages 17 or older, an alternative route to earn a Connecticut State High School Diploma. Students must be 17 or older to take the GED exam. Individuals, ages 17 or 18, must submit documentation that they have been withdrawn from school for at least six months prior to the exam, or that the class they entered ninth-grade with has graduated. Preparation and testing are available in English or Spanish. The new GED is a computerized exam. We offer instruction on computers to prepare you for this new testing format.
g NEDP (National External Diploma Program) This free program provides an alternative for adults who have gained skills through life
experiences and demonstrated competency in a certain area. The NEDP is an electronic portfolio assessment program that offers weekly one-on-one meetings with staff, but no classroom instruction. An EASTCONN High School Diploma is granted upon successful completion of the program. Call to make an appointment.

Classes run contingent upon PAID enrollment and may be cancelled or postponed due to insufficient registrations.
