MILAN EYE CENTER DELIVERS A CLEAR VISION FOR EAST COBB University Medical Center where he developed an interest in corneal transplantation studies. Dr. Vira received the prestigious Beem Fisher Research Award for his work. After a year in private practice and as a teaching-attending physician at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Chicago, he returned to Georgia for fellowship training in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at the Emory Eye Center. Now a team member at Milan Eye Center, Dr. Vira is also affiliated with several Metro Atlanta hospitals, including North Fulton Hospital, Northside HospitalCherokee, and Northside Hospital-Forsyth and will soon be affiliated with the WellStar Health System.

In an environment where compassion meets excellence in eye care, Milan Eye Center has been treating and helping patients in the Metro Atlanta area since 2009. In July of this year, Milan Eye Center opened an East Cobb office and surgery center, which is its sixth location in the metro area. At the helm of this new office is Dr. Samir Vira, a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in corneal disease and LASIK-refractive surgery. According to Dr. Vira, who joined the practice when the new office opened, “What drew me to Milan Eye Center was its focus on personalized patient care. The doctors’ collective approach is basic but so important – to customize care for each individual patient. We make sure that each patient understands his or her condition and together we strive to achieve the best possible outcome. That’s not always the case with many eye care centers. We want to focus on a patient’s individualized needs rather than the number of patients seen in the clinic.” Dr. Vira brings a wealth of training and experience to his new position in Milan Eye Center’s East Cobb office. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated with honors with a degree in Computer Science. Dr. Vira then received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. After moving to Chicago for a competitive internship at Evanston Northwestern Hospital, he completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Loyola

At the forefront of new technology and procedures, Milan Eye Center offers an array of services from LASIK, cataract surgery, and lens replacement surgery to comprehensive eye care including management of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, oculoplastics, corneal disease and transplantation, and macular degeneration. One of the ophthalmologists at Milan Eye Center has even developed a smart phone app called Easy Drops, which helps patients with reminders of their next scheduled eye drops. Open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, the East Cobb office welcomes patients with most insurance plans. For unexpected eye care emergencies, walks-ins are welcome as well. And for after-hour emergencies, a Milan Eye Center doctor is always available for patients. Milan Eye Center is located at 3775 Roswell Rd., Suite 150, Marietta, GA 30062, next to the WellStar East Cobb Health Park. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit www.milaneyecenter.com or call 678-381-2020. “With a premier eye care clinic and in-house surgery center right here in East Cobb, we make it easy for residents to get excellent treatment close to home,” says Dr. Vira. “And it’s our promise that those who visit our newest location will receive the same personalized care that has become the signature of Milan Eye Center.”
