Mary Katherine Horony Cummings, better known in the Wild West as Big Nose Kate, met up with Doc Holliday during the 1870’s in famed Dodge City, Kansas. It is said that Doc considered her his intellectual equal, according to Wikipedia. I think that Kate and Doc would be pleaseD with the “Tombstone” themed bike named “Kate” that was inspired by the movie Tombstone. The bike was designed and built by the owner, Donnie Shane or Smyrna, Delaware with the help of Eric Riehl (also doing fabrication) along with some influence from John Trabaudo. Mechanic Dino Krupca used a Total Performance 124 TPT engine that was polished diamond cut for extra brilience. A 120x21 front tire and a massive 250x18 Avon Venon-XTires provide the traction and curb appeal. The handle bars and headlight are by Arlen Ness, the front end is a Fat Bastard. Eric Riehl fabricated the gas tank, tail pipes by Vance & Hines and a custom air cleaner by Detroit Brothers. A little of this and a little of that makes for a great looking bike that is sure to attract attention no matter where it goes. Donnie is a retired Delaware state worker since 2004. With his wife Cathy they opened a small “Mom & Pop” grocery/deli, just to keep busy. During his “off time” Donnie and his friends continued the work on the “Kate” bike over the next 2 1/2 years. Donnie loved the movie Tombstone and wanted to do something in a bike to share his love for the movie. Don and his friends did a great job and we’re happy to have it featured in this month’s issue. On our cover this month is model Kristen, featured with the Kate bike. Kristen is a college student and works as a waitress at the Hooter’s in New Castle, Delaware. She loves sports, especially hockey and NASCAR and she’s not afraid to get some grease on her hands while working on cars and trucks. She loves guys with a sense of humor that are “rugged outdoorsmen” and she can be found on her days off either at the beach or the gym working out. Kristen loves country music and we’re happy to have her with us on this months cover. Stop in Hooter’s and let her know that you saw her on this month’s cover of the East Coast Biker magazine.
