ACTION ON ILLEGAL TRAVELLERS Peter Booth, Kelvin Poplett and Chris Sandland, the Conservative local action team for East Brighton have called on Brighton and Hove City Council and the Police to develop a suitable plan to remove illegal travellers, who regularly camp around East Brighton Park, opposite Wilson Avenue. Local Conservative Action Team member Peter Booth said: “All too often travellers are setting up illegal encampments in East Brighton. My colleagues and I have written to the Council to ensure they have appropriate plans in place to move these travellers on as swiftly as possible to minimise the effect on local residents. We will be keeping a close eye on this matter.”

HOSPITAL PARKING CONCERNS Your local Conservative Action Team for East Brighton recently attended a meeting of the Royal Sussex County Hospital Liaison Group at the Hospital. East Brighton Conservative Action Team member Chris Sandland said: My East Brighton colleagues and I attended the meeting of the Hospital Liaison Group to discuss the effects of the proposed redevelopment on existing local residents. It is vital that residents are fully involved in decisions which will have a huge impact locally and we are determined they are not overlooked.

CONSERVATIVES COUNCIL TAX FREEZE Local Conservatives on Brighton and Hove City Council have pledged to freeze Council tax next year. East Brighton Conservative Action Team Member Kelvin Poplett said:

“Conservatives recognise that, especially during these tough economic times, every penny counts.” “That is why I am delighted to

support my Conservative colleagues pledge to freeze Council tax, which I know will be welcome news to the hardworking families and elderly residents of East Brighton.” Local MP Simon Kirby also backed these proposals, adding: “I am sure this move will be a real benefit to hard pressed residents of East Brighton during these tough times.”

Peter Booth has lived in Brighton for over 10 years. Peter runs his own business designing and producing Spectacle frames and running his own business knows that controlling spending is important.

Kelvin works in Brighton for a leading travel agency. He has lived in Brighton for 8 years after moving here from London.

Chris Sandland has vast experience over many years working in social care, earning an MBE for his contributions.

Working in travel, Kelvin is keen to promote Brighton as the 'best tourist destination in England' as so many jobs depend upon tourism.

Chris added: “Supporting and strengthening our community is my priority. My many years of work in social care have taught me that a strong community spirit produces strong neighbourhoods.”

He is passionate about providing excellent local services, and takes a 'value for money' approach to every pound of our money spent by our City Council. Peter said: “If elected I will continue to work hard for all residents of East Brighton, to improve local services for the area.”
