Beach School Practitioner Duration

This is a 1 day introductory course (9am - 5pm).

Location

This course will be held at our International Early Years Centre of Excellence at East Coast College, Great Yarmouth Campus and will include a trip to the local beach. Bespoke programmes for both staff and children can be designed to suit the needs of your setting and can be delivered in-house at convenient times.

Cost

£150 per delegate.

Course Details

This course will offer delegates an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and increasingly popular pedagogical approach to teaching and learning, and to deliver beach school programmes.

Objectives of this course

• Investigate the history and ethos of Beach Schools • To understand the development of Beach Schools from a national and international perspective • Understand how the beach ecosystem works and how to use this natural resource to support children’s holistic development • Recognise the benefits of beach activities to children’s personal, social and emotional development • Promoting inclusive practice • Use and teach a range of practical skills appropriate for Beach Schools • Explore health and safety requirements • Plan, implement and reflect on Beach School sessions 4.


Introduction to Forest School Duration

This course will run across two days (9am - 5pm).

Location

This course can be held at our International Early Years Centre of Excellence at East Coast College, Great Yarmouth Campus. Bespoke programmes for both staff and children can be designed to suit the needs of your setting and can be delivered in-house at convenient times.

Cost

£250 per delegate.

Course Details

This course will offer delegates an exciting opportunity to learn about the ethos of Forest School and experience learning in a outdoor environment.

Objectives of this course

• Investigate the history and ethos of Forest Schools • Create an environment for independent learning and exploration • Explore the outdoor area, through activities and make connections with nature • Promote children’s self-esteem and confidence through a Forest School approach • Recognise the benefits of Forest School to children’s personal, social and emotional development • Learn some practical skills appropriate for Forest Schools • Use reflective practice • Promote inclusive practice • Explore health and safety requirements • Plan, implement and reflect on Forest School sessions 5.

PANCo Role Duration

This is a 1 day course (10am - 5pm).

Location

This course will be held at our International Early Years Centre of Excellence at East Coast College, Great Yarmouth Campus or in-house training can be provided. Bespoke programmes for both staff and children can be designed to suit the needs of your setting and can be delivered in-house at convenient times.

Cost

£100 per delegate.

Course Details

The PANCo role has been developed as The Cambridge Model. This is being rolled out nationally to combat the growing problem of childhood obesity and poor health.

• To gain an understanding of The Cambridge Model and the new Physical Activity and Nutrition Co-ordinator role • To improve knowledge and understanding of current best practice in relation to physical activity and nutrition for under 5s • To gain an awareness of national evidence based resources and sources of information on physical activity and nutrition for children under 5 years • To support staff in implementing a whole setting approach to nutrition and physical activity • To understand health guidelines and educational requirements for physical activity for children • This is vital training to support the potential introduction of the role in statutory requirements. This will provide you with the tools and confidence to integrate a whole setting policy to improve the health of both staff and children alike


Introduction to Reggio Emilia Approach Duration

This is a 1 day course (10am-5pm).

Location

This course will be held at our International Early Years Centre of Excellence at East Coast College, Great Yarmouth Campus. Bespoke programmes for both staff and children can be designed to suit the needs of your setting and can be delivered in-house at convenient times.

Cost

£150 per delegate - Group rates can be considered.

Course Details

This course will offer an introduction to the exciting approach that is fast becoming widespread in the UK and internationally. It will offer an introduction to the key principles and theory that underpin this innovative approach and provide suggestions on how delegates can use this in their own early years settings. • Gain practical hands on activities and suggestions for how to create an enabling environment using this approach to foster a sense of community and partnership • Explore our on-site atelier and understand the role of the environment as a third teacher. We will look at resources and identify the role of observation in this process • Explore how this approach can be used within existing assessment frameworks

Level 4 Diploma in the Reggio Emila Approach Duration

This is a 1 year course.

Approved by CACHE/NCFE.

Location

This is a distance learning qualification. Teaching will be via webinars and our online platform, including one to one tutorials. Within the year there will be two opportunities for delegates to attend training at our International Early Years Centre of Excellence.

Available on request.

Course Details

There will be the opportunity for delegates to accompany the college on a trip to Reggio Emilia (this will be at an extra cost and is not included in the course fee). As part of this trip delegates will be given an opportunity to visit The Loris Malaguzzi International Centre, a Montessori nursery and a Reggio Emilia Atelier. Further details available upon request.
