How to pray for the ministries in the Calendar – a very general guide! 1. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE for God and for God’s people and a passion for sharing the Good News with the lost. 2. There is an urgent need for God’s help for all God’s children, including those in ministry to get their priorities 100% in line with those of God! 3. God’s presence, Grace, favour! 4. The Holy Spirit’s leading and guidance; and a god-inspired desire (and ability) for holiness and keeping true to the narrow way. 5. Equipping ourselves and others with the whole armour of God! 6. Provision, a lack of volunteers, resources, facilities and finances are becoming major problems for ministries – BUT THEY ARE NOT A PROBLEM FOR GOD! 7. Labourers for the harvest! 8. Pray for these ministries, Churches and organisations to receive increased support from local Christian community! 9. Unity the staff and Christians working with the different ministries, Churches and organisations!

Praying for another country is difficult. Since many feel they do not understand the culture or situation enough to pray effectively. However Peter the Apostle writes to the Church and encourages ALL to pray: He says: “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.” 1 Peter 5: 8-9 NLT Many of us share similarities in the hard things we face. Focus on Christians in other countries who are suffering like you for your Faith in Jesus Christ!

THE DANIEL FAST (by Jentezen Franklin) Step 1: Be Specific Daniel was not vague in his objection to the Babylonian diet. He defined the problem immediately. 1. The king’s food was against dietary laws. 2. Daniel and his friends had vowed against wine. 3. The king’s food had been offered up to idols/demons.

Step 2: Fast as a Spiritual Commitment The Daniel Fast involves a spiritual commitment to God. “Daniel proposed in his heart that he would not defile himself” (Daniel 1:8). Step 3: Reflect Inner Desire by Outer Discipline Many people have an inner desire for better health, but they can’t discipline themselves to avoid junk food, and other foods that are not good for their health. The physical health you seek from God may be more than an answer to prayer. Your physical health can be linked to any of the following factors: 1. Your food choices. 2. The level of your spiritual commitment as reflected in constant prayer during the fast. 3. Your time commitment. If you determine to fast for a certain time, keep it. For example, if you determine to fast 10 days, don’t stop on Day 9. 4. Your testimony commitment. Your fast is a statement of faith to God that you want Him to heal your body, and faith is foundational to the Daniel Fast.

Step 4: Pray to Perceive Sin’s Role in Poor Health Notice James 5:13-16:      

Sin is something related to the cause of sickness. Lack of health/healing may be the result of spiritual rebellion. Lack of health/healing may be due to sin of wrong intake, i.e. drugs, pornography. Repentance is linked to health according to James. Elders have a role in healing both spiritual and physical health. Sick people must desire to be well

  

The anointing oil could mean 1. Medicine for healing, 2. Symbolic of the Holy Spirit, or 3. It could be baptism Prayer alone may not gain healing, faith is the major factor. In Greek there are several words for “sick”. James uses “Kanino”, which not only includes disease, but also means weak or weary. Attitude is important. James said, “are there any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.”

Step 5: Fast as a Statement of Faith to Others Daniel was making a statement of faith when he asked for only vegetables to eat and water to drink, then dared the overseer to compare the appearance of the four sons of Israel with the young men who ate the king’s food. Step 6: Learn the Effects of the Food You Eat Why are some foods good for us, and other foods not? What does certain food do to your body? If we really knew, there would likely be some things we would never eat again. Step 7: Yield All Results to God Daniel said, “as you see fit, deal with your servants” (Dan. 1:13). FOOD GUIDELINES FOR A DANIEL FAST

Daniel 1:12 “Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.” Daniel 10:3 KJV “I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.” When going on a Daniel fast, or any type of fast, if you have questions outside of what Scripture says, prayerfully seek the Lord and be led by the Spirit for the specifics for your personal fast.

THE DANIEL FAST! (Taken from daniel-fast.com & WikiHow) There are two references to fasting in the biblical book of Daniel from which the "Daniel Fast" is drawn. Daniel, chapter 1, describes how Daniel and his three friends ate only vegetables and drank only water. (Daniel 1) At the end of a 10-day trial period, Daniel and his friends appeared healthier than their peers who ate the rich foods from the royal table. In Daniel, chapter 10, Daniel fasts again, abstaining from "pleasant food," meat, and wine. (Daniel 10) STEPS The Daniel Fast promotes healthy eating. But if you have specific health concerns, consult with a trusted health care provider before committing to this 10-day (or 3week) diet. METHOD 1 OF 3: THE DANIEL FAST AND YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO GOD 1. Avoid distractions. This is a sacred time between you and God, so avoid secular television and radio programs. 2. Start the diet by focusing on your faith. Worship God through sacrifice and love Him more than His gifts. 3. Pray. Your days should be filled with unselfish prayer. During the fast, increase the frequency of your daily prayer time by a factor of three or more. 4. Reserve time with God during the day by studying the Bible. 5. Seek the Lord diligently for the answers to your prayers. 6. Ask for God's guidance in your life. METHOD 2 OF 3: THE (10 DAY) DANIEL FAST, PART I 1. Make your meals somewhat lighter for a few days leading up to your fast. It's an especially good idea to reduce your intake of caffeine. 2. In the first Book of Daniel, the Prophet ate only vegetables and fruit, and drank only water for 10 days. A short rundown of acceptable foods include: a. All fruits and vegetables b. All legumes c. Whole grains d. Nuts and seeds e. Tofu f. Herbs and spices. g. For liquid intake water is the only drink. 8 glasses a day helps deal with the headaches caused by you detoxing!

h.

Blended Fruit/Vegetable Smoothies are allowed on the fast as a “meal replacement” (since they are considered a “liquid meal” rather than a beverage). A Daniel Fast “smoothie” is simply blended fruits, vegetables, and if needed a splash of unsweetened plant-based milk (Soy, Almond, Rice, Coconut, etc.) or some Natural unsweetened juice (Unsweetened additive free juices are allowed for use in recipes but not as a drinking beverage). 3. Conversely, there is also an agreed upon list of foods to avoid. Keep in mind that neither artificial or processed foods nor any chemicals are allowed in the Daniel Fast. a. All meats and animal products b. All dairy products c. All deep fried foods d. All solid fats. 4. Carefully read food labels. Foods often contain hidden ingredients. Make sure the foods you buy are compliant with the Daniel Fast. METHOD 3 OF 3: THE (21 DAY) DANIEL FAST, PART II 1. Move to stage two. In Daniel, Book 10, the Prophet went on a second, 3-week fast. To quote the Bible, Daniel "ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine." The second fast is basically the same as the first fast, but the text specifically names three things to avoid: a. Wine b. All sweeteners (including honey, artificial sweeteners) c. All leavened bread. 2. Assess how you feel after the two stages. If you feel more energetic and healthier, it is likely that you will want to keep up healthier eating habits. While reintroducing many of the items you've not had during the fast is inevitable, you may want to do so with greater consciousness for quality and portion size. And some things, like fried food and sugar are best kept to a new minimum. TIPS   

If for any reason you eat something you shouldn't have during the fast, it is better to ask for forgiveness and continue, than it is to stop the fast. Lots of prayer...we need God's strength and guidance. If you are experiencing weakness or headaches, drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. Often, we do not understand just how much our body needs water, especially when fasting.

   

Keep your diet simple. Avoid highly processed foods in favour of simply prepared or raw foods. Set a goal for how long you will do the fast. Ultimately, you may want to continue the Daniel Fast longer than first intended. You may want to supplement your diet with a multi-vitamin. Be careful not to drink too much water, however. Too much liquid can be as bad as not enough.

WARNINGS  During the time of fasting, you will face temptations; resist them in the name of Jesus Christ.  When you have finished fasting, eat light meals and slowly build back up to your normal diet. ISAIAH 58: 6-12 NLT “This is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help. “Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the Lord will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply. “Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumours! Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.”
