Welcome to The Coastal Land!
With 266 kilometres of coastline, great forests, and beautiful hillsides, The Coastal Land is a unique area of Denmark full of natural wonders. Here, experiences are lined up, only waiting for you to indulge.
For example, head out on the bike route The Nature Path Horsens-Silkeborg, where 61 kilometres of mainly car-free, paved tracks await, following the exact course of a former regional train line. Start in Silkeborg and go in the direction of Horsens, which is the biggest city in The Coastal Land. Underway, several stops offer one-of-a-kind sights, such as The Uncovered Bridge which overlooks Denmark’s only river The Gudenå. In Horsens, make sure to visit the former state penitentiary THE PRISON which is the home to Europe’s biggest prison museum. While in Horsens more cultural experiences await, including Horsens Art Museum and The Industrial Museum. Both acclaimed institutions near the urban centre, where you can fuel up on local gourmet at Ji-Mi’s or sit back and enjoy an Italian dinner at Restaurant Mamma’s.
If you’re on the hunt for those sweet altitudes, go to Bakkelandet in the northwest of The Coastal Land where the tallest peaks in Denmark are located — with Yding Skovhøj rising above all the others. If you get hungry, two eateries, The Little Smokehouse in Voervadsbro and The Old Post Office in Brædstrup, are guaranteed to provide you with tasting local cuisine in intimate surroundings.
Have a great trip around The Coastal Land!
