Luc Smeyers,
DEAR SPORTS FRIENDS
I am very happy to welcome you to the 9th USPE Euro pean Police Championships (EPC) Cycling in Brædstrup / Horsens (Denmark).
The Covid-19 pandemic had a massive impact on sports activities in Europe and around the world. The USPE was obliged to postpone many sports events. That’s why I’m pleased that we are finally able to hold this EPC Cycling.
From 8th till 12th September 2022, the best cyclists from different European police forces will gather here to com pete.
The USPE entrusted the Danish Police Sports Board (Dansk Politiidrætsforbund) with the organisation of these great championships. I would like to express my extraordi nary gratitude to President Knud Stadsgaard and his team for their joint efforts and great commitment.
Thanks to the organisation of these EPC the USPE builds bridges of friendship and strengthens the cooperation bet ween the police forces in Europe.

I look forward to attending exciting races and wish all the athletes, coaches, delegates and guests a pleasant stay and everlasting memories of this event.

WELCOME TO DENMARK
– WELCOME TO BRÆDSTRUP
WELCOME TO THE 9 TH EUROPEAN POLICE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CYCLING
As president of The Danish Police Sport Association, I am so happy welcoming all of you to this championship in the beautiful countryside of Jylland.
This is the 9th USPE European Police Championships (EPC) Cycling – and for the first time held here in Denmark.
The Covid-19 pandemic have the last two years, as you all know of course, had a massive impact on sports acti vities here in Denmark and in the rest of the world. And it´s coming back so please make your precautions. We saw how it affected this year’s Tour de France, which by the way - and proud to recall - started in Copenhagen and during three days passed through Denmark – and ended up on Avenue de Champs-Élysées in Paris.
Now it is your turn, as you from 8th to 12th September 2022, are gathered here to compete.
Our National Commissioner Thorkild Fogde is supporting this championship and sends his greetings to all of you, and you can read his words of welcome in this program.
All athletes aim for being better and have a dream of being no. 1 – just as the Dane Jonas Vingegaard did in Paris.
Everyone shall of course follow that dream accordingly to the Olympic motto “citius, altius, forties” meaning longer, higher and stronger, but you shall always remember that “participating is an honor, a noble aim, and still the most important purpose” – here quoting Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic games and former pre sident of IOC.
I wish you a pleasant and safe stay in Jylland, drive sa fely and enjoy the views and your colleagues from all over Europe before, during and after you’re competing.
May you all - individually - win!
Yours sincerely
Knud
Stadsgaard PresidentDanish Police Sport Association

DEAR ATHLETES, GUEST AND VOLUNTEERS
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 9th USPE European Police Championships, placed in Bræd strup in the central part of Jutland, Denmark.
In Brædstrup the riders will be facing some of the country’s toughest hill climbs in an otherwise remarkably flat coun try. It will be a physically demanding stage, challenging both technique, endurance and strength. We will be look ing forward to finding out who is the strongest rider!
The Grand Départ of Tour de France in Denmark marks one of the greatest sporting events in Denmark and with Jonas Vingegaard in the yellow jersey at the finish line in Paris, it has been a spectacular Summer for our bikefriendly nation.
In Denmark, cycling is part of everyday life and I hope that the USPE European Police Championships will help pro mote cycling across Europe.
Sporting events like this play a vital role in connecting not only police officers from various countries but also the cheering crowds along the routes.
I wish you all a great race and a pleasant stay in Denmark. Finally, I want to thank the organizers and all the volun teers, without you, we would not have had such a wellorganized race.
Best of luck to all the riders.
Sincerely
Commissioner Mr. Jørgen Abrahamsen South East Jutland Police Force, Denmark

WELCOME TO HORSENS
I am pleased to welcome all the participants in the EPC CYCLING 2022 to Horsens!
I hope that you will all have a great time competing in and experiencing our beautiful city - where activities and cul tural events take place all year round.
Here, you will be cycling in a part of the Coastal Land with a captivating industrial town with a clear view of lots of cultural and historical experiences. You will be on the edge of the energy of the big city and the charm of the small town. The city is free from congestion, hustle and bustle. However, it is rich in art, entrepreneurship, soul, good food, music, green oases and cultural life.
You will also sense its past as a prison and industrial city. You will ride your bike alongside award-winning museums, shopping opportunities, surprising gable paintings in the cityscape, a very special creative urge and nature experi ences in the near vicinity of the city.
I hope, in fact I am sure, that you will feel just as home here in the city of Horsens. Have a wonderful stay - and may the best win!
Peter Sørensen Mayor Horsens
Both the time trial and the road race will be on the same course, and we hope that all participants will enjoy it. It contains open landscape with risk of cross or head wind, small winding roads in beautiful nature, a couple of quick descents and about 300 altitude meters on each lap.
We know that it will be a hard course – we used the course in May 22 at the Danish National Police Champi onships, but we are certain, that we will have the stron gest women and men fighting for the podium in the end.
The start will be in the northern part of Brædstrup in an industrial area. Heading north against Sønder Vissing the landscape is open and a bit hilly.
At Sønder Vissing the course turns left and after a few hundred meters a turn to the right against Addit. The road is now more narrow, hilly and winding in an area with forest.
After a right turn, the road is wider and comes with a fast descent towards the lake, Mossø. With the lake on your left the course will go slightly up wards against Voerladegaard in a beautiful forest area.
At the top of this climb, the course turns right and are headed west for Voervadsbro. Reaching Voervadsbro we have another quick descent with some technical challenges due to the speed.
The next left turn at Nederskovvej heading for Tønning will, if you have the time and energy, provide you with a beautiful view of the nature in Denmark, before you have to handle Smedebakken – a hill/climb about 900 me ters long with an average increase of approx. 8 %.
Reaching the top in Tønning, the course turns right to wards the finish line in Brædstrup. The last 2,5 km is almost due west and increases 1 - 2,5% all the way to the finish line.
Due to the fact, that in Denmark the wind blows from the west 80-90 % of the time, we are sure all partici pants will be in the red zone reaching the finish line.
We hope that the course will bring all of you a good ex perience and all of us some good bike races.

On my motorcycle, I will bring a defibrillator and there will also be other first aid helpers in the finish areas, since a big task as first aid cannot be handled alone.
