The Evangelist

57 Years Not just a preacher but a man with a hunger for souls! Rev. Clyde W. Collins

The following outline into the Book of Revelation is dedicated to Pastor/ Evangelist Clyde Collins who ministered the gospel for over 57 years. Born in Newfoundland on October 24, 1917, he moved to Nova Scotia at the age of nine and spent the remainder of his life in Halifax until he went home to be with his Lord on September 29, 2003. A man very passionate about winning the lost for Christ. He was true to his calling as a fisher of men as many came to know the Lord as their Saviour through his ministry. A web site has been dedicated to his outreach ministry. Calvary Clinic Gospel Ministries derived from Mount Calvary and his years of service as a paramedic during World War ll If there are any questions after reading this commentary, simply send us an email. Several pamphlets were written by Clyde when through much prayer and faith believing, he got back his sight after ten years of blindness. There are four such papers at the conclusion of this commentary. “The Coming World Dictator” … “The Great Escape” “God’s Plan For You” … “Stake Your Claim” It is our prayer that as you study Revelation and understand the wonderful future God has for His saints; you will truly know in your heart that you will be a part of His majestic plan.

The second: Red horse - World War III.

GOD’S MASTER PERFORMANCE I would like to refer to the events that will take place on the earth during the Tribulation as God’s master performance. Dr. Hilton Sutton recently made the following statement. “We are coming to the end of the sixth millennium. God’s plan for man contains only seven; and the seventh is the thousand year reign of Christ here on earth. Even considering inaccuracies in our calendar, we are very close to the appearing of Jesus for the catching away of the Church.” All scripture in this study are taken from the King James Version of the Holy Bible. It is evident that the KJV is more free of man’s theology than other versions. For years it seemed no one was able to unlock The Revelation, a supposed book of dark sayings and mystic happenings. Many declare the Book of Revelation to be a book of hidden meanings. Were that so, God did not title it correctly. He should have entitled it “The Mystery”, figure it out if you can. The Scriptures, inspired by our heavenly Father, were given for instruction in righteousness and doctrine (profit), so that we may be complete. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

The third: Black horse - Famine.

The fourth: Pale horse - Death (accompanied by Hell).

The fifth: Martyred Tribulation saints.

The sixth: The upheaval of nature reserved until end of Tribulation. Rev: 7

Two groups revealed. The 144,000 Jewish evangelists who begin ministry in Tribulation’s first year. (Rev. 14:1-5; Ezek. 9:4)

The Great Multitude (mid-Tribulation saints) caught up to God’s throne. Rev: 8,9,10

Seventh seal: Ushers in 7 trumpet judgments.

First-Fourth: Plagues will be used intermittently throughout last 31/2 years.

Fifth First Woe - Demon locusts, no death, five months duration.

Sixth: Second Woe - Eastern army destroyed at Armageddon. Rev: 11,12,13

Seventh: Third Woe - Reserved until end of Tribulation.

Two Witnesses. Israel escapes to wilderness. Mark of the Beast. Angelic ministry.

GOD’S MASTER PERFORMANCE “CONTINUED”

Today, we depend upon the same Holy Spirit who inspired the Scriptures to give us understanding. No scripture is to be carnally discerned or privately interpreted.

Rev: 14

Rev: 15,16

(2 Peter 1:19-21)

He Himself chose the title which means “that which is revealed or made clearly visible.” God wants us to understand Revelation. Chapters 1, 2 & 3 speak directly to daily Christian living. God gave us this book to complete the New Testament picture of Jesus which aids us in our Christian experience. Today, we depend upon the same Holy Spirit who inspired the Scriptures to give us understanding. No scripture is to be carnally discerned or privately interpreted.

Rev: 20

(2 Peter 1:19-21)

Prepare yourself to receive the blessing promised to those who heed the words of Revelation. “Blessed is he who readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein for the time is at hand.” (Revelation 1:3)

Jesus is referred to 55 times in the twentytwo chapters, Angels are referred to 55 times in the twenty-two chapters, the Holy Spirit is referred to 14 times in Revelation. One’s works are pointed out 10 different times. There are 9 proofs of Rapture within Revelation. The path to God’s wrath is very clear for those who reject Him. It is our prayer that as you study Revelation and understand the wonderful future God has for His saints, that you will truly know in your heart that you will be a part of His majestic plan. Simply by accepting Him as your personal Savior and Lord will provide you with the key to that Pearly White City.

The 144,000 finish ministry and appear with Christ. No further reference in story. Last seven plagues, approximately occur during last thirty days. Insight to Armageddon. The Harlot of these chapters identifies the world’s religious system. Christ returns with His saints. Battle of Armageddon. (Zech. 14) Antichrist and False Prophet cast into Lake of Fire. 1,000 year reign of Jesus Christ on earth. Martyrs are resurrected. Saints reign as kings and priests. Satan is bound for 1,000 years. Israel is totally restored. (Isaiah 35: Ezek. 36)

Release of Satan. Final battle with Satan. Rev: 20:11-15 Final resurrection of wicked dead. Rev: 21,22 White Throne Judgment. New Jerusalem, new heaven, and new earth. Rev: 20: 7-10

Commentary

REVELATION 1:1-10 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

Verse 1 The complete title is The Revelation

of Jesus. The first to receive this revelation was St. John the Divine, the beloved apostle.

Verses 2-3 Source and authority for The Reve-

lation.

John’s salutation from himself, God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost to the seven churches of Asia. Tells them they are redeemed from their sins by Jesus’ blood.

Verses 4-6

Verse 7 Christ will return in the clouds (with

10,000’s of His saints). Every eye shall see Him. This is the Second Coming, not Jesus’ appearing. (Daniel 7: 7-10; Zechariah 14: 5; Revelation 17:14; 19:14)

Verse 9 John admits his humility and explains

his circumstances.

John has obtained right-standing with God and is full of the Holy Ghost. Verse 10

REVELATION 1:11-20 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

Commentary

Verses 12-18 Jesus as John saw Him: clothed

in a full length garment and golden girdle. Hair white like wool. Eyes as a flame. Feet like fine brass. (Brass denotes judgment). Voice as many waters. Held in His right hand seven stars - the angels of the seven churches. From out of His mouth came a sharp sword The Word of God. Face shining in strength. In the midst of seven golden candlesticks - the seven different churches. Holds the keys of hell and death.

Verse 19 This clearly shows us the divisions of

Revelation. Revelation 1 covers the things which thou hast seen - the vision of Jesus. Revelation 2 and 3 covers the things which are - the church age. Revelation 4 through 22 covers the things which shall be hereafter the time subsequent to the church age.

REVELATION 2:1-10

Commentary

Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Verse 1 Jesus walks in the midst of the candle-

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

sticks. He is in the middle of the churches.

Verses 2-3 Commendation: this church has

works, labor, patience, discipline and forbearance. They expose sin and haven’t fainted or given up.

Verse 4 Conviction: they have left their first

love. The believer’s first love is for Jesus. Agape, the Greek word for the God-kind of love, has been replaced by human works. Verse 5 “Repent and do your first works over”.

Verse 7 Overcomers will eat of the tree of life.

Verse 8 Related to myrrh, symbolic of death.

Suffers persecution under ten Roman rulers. Jesus is the First and the Last, was dead and is alive. Verse 9 Commendation: this church has works, has suffered tribulation and poverty, but is rich. Conviction: has negative confessions based on natural circumstances. Verse 10 “Fear none of things which you suf-

fer” including 10 days of tribulation. The number 10 means “extreme”. But also temporary. Overcomers are promised a crown of life.

Commentary

REVELATION 2:11-19 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

Verse 13 Commendation: has works, holds

fast Jesus’ name, and does not deny the faith.

Verses 14-15 Given to idolatry more than all

Asia. Conviction: has evil associations (doctrines of Balaam and Nicolaitanes).

Verse 16

“Repent or suffer sudden destruc-

tion. Verse 17 Promise that the overcomers will eat

of the hidden manna and receive a white stone with a new manna on it.

Verse 18 Jesus, the Son of God, has eyes like

flames of fire, feet like fine brass.
