sports briefs ADUTCHGIRLSOFTBALL pitching clinic will be held on Saturday, June 2 at either Lions Field or the OHS big gym depending upon the weather conditions that day. Ages 11 and up will have their clinic from 9 a.m., until 10:15 a.m., while kids 10 and under will go from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Cost of the clinic is $25 and include a T-shirt. Students can also participate in the clinic for $15 without a shirt with checks made out to OHS. Interested pitchers need to email Dutchgirl softball coach Angie Woodruff at email@example.com with their age, T-shirt size and wether a parent/coach catcher will be available the day of the camp. The deadline to register for this clinic is Thursday, May 17 (also the last day of school).
3200-meter runs. Competing first in the mile. The Dutchgirl freshman kept a steady pace with Borgia’s Haley Russell settling for second to the Lady Knight with a time of 5:35.54. That time was over a second faster than her seed time of 5:36.69. Over two laps into the 3200, Baehr and Russell continued to set the pace until the Borgia runner could not finish the race due to sickness. Fighting off Versailles harrier Emily Nealley, Baehr also finished second with a 3200 time of 12:20.81. Prior to the 3200, Ellis added a second event to her sectional list with a second-place time of 1:00.93 in
the 400-meter dash. This was also a new personal record (PR) by nearly two-tenths of a second. Sectional track action at Marshfield High School on Saturday will get underway at noon with the field events and track events will start at 12:15 p.m., with the 4x800-meter relay. Athletes and relay teams finishing in the top four of their respective events Saturday will qualify for the 2012 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships to be held May 2526 at Lincoln University’s Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City.
