Join us for a weekly craft session, which introduces some of our favorite storybook characters. From Arthur to Dora the Explorer, they are all waiting for you at our pre-school movie (30 minutes) and craft special.

OH MY ORIGAMI! (6-12 Year Olds) Saturdays, Dec. 6; Feb. 14 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Do you like to create things with paper? If yes, come and watch Mrs. SoYoung work her magic. Learn the basics of origami, and discover what lies within a piece of paper. Join us as we make fun origami creations!

FOUR MAGIC WORDS: PLEASE AND THANK YOU (All Ages) Saturday, Dec. 13 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Just in time for the holidays, this program offers helpful hints to good manners that every child needs to know. What do you say when you get socks instead of the cool race car you really wanted? How soon after receiving a gift should you send a thank you card? Knowing and using good manners can make the holidays and any day pleasant and enjoyable for everyone. Through stories, songs, role-playing and more, children can brush up on the winning behavior we all wish to give and to receive.

*HOLIDAY PUPPETRY WITH MS. LAUREL & FRIENDS (Infants, 2 Year Olds, Pre-school) Tuesday, Dec. 16 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Join Ms. Laurel for two holiday puppet shows: “Santa Cures a Cold” and “Santa’s Reindeer.” The holiday magic continues with stories, songs and a craft.

*A VISIT WITH SANTA (All Ages) Thursday, Dec. 18 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Come meet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus! Hear a story, sing songs, have refreshments and above all, tell Santa what you want for Christmas. Bring your camera for that special photo with Santa.

*NATURE CRAFT/CREATE A BIRD FEEDER (Pre-school, Kindergarten, Elementary School) Saturday, Dec. 20 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Winter is upon us, so what can we do to help our feathered friends? We can create a bird feeder! Join us for this fun-filled special as we explore the many ways to support our woodland friends. This craft is fun, easy and tastes great, too.

*AMERICAN DANCE FESTIVAL PRESENTS: “DANCING STORIES! STORIES COME ALIVE” (All Ages) Saturdays, Jan. 10 (Part I), 17 (Part II) 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to experience the joy of movement with Jody Cassell, author and teaching artist in dance, from the internationally-known American Dance Festival for a two-part Winter Dance Workshop. Twirl, bounce, and dip as Ms. Cassell makes stories come alive interactively with her audience. Stir your imagination and delight in your giggles! In Part I (Jan. 10), Ms. Cassell will interactively dance her children’s book, Where’s Leon?, a story created not just to be read, but to be danced. Part II (Jan. 17) will feature A Book of Sleep, by Il Sung Na.

LIBRARY ETIQUETTE AND TOUR SESSION (6-12 Year Olds) Ongoing This program is open to schools, daycares, homeschoolers and day-camps. A tour of the library is provided, followed by an information session explaining the expectations for children when visiting the library. Each session is scheduled upon request.
