NORTHERN CENTRAL NEW YORK VOLUNTEER FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION

125 Anniversary Yearbook th

1895 - 2020 Northern Central New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Inc. Member Counties: Cayuga, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Yates

WELCOME

to the 116th Convention of the Northern Central New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association The Northern Central New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association officers and members would like to thank all the advertisers who have graciously contributed towards this anniversary yearbook. Established in 1895, NCNYVFA is celebrating its 125th Anniversary as an organization serving nine counties in the Northern Central region (Cayuga, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Seneca, Stueben, Wayne and Yates). Unfortunately, with the COVID-19 outbreak, the NCNYVFA did not host its 116th Convention this year. Although the organization is 125 years old, the first convention was not held until 1896 and there were no conventions during WWI and WW2. The original constitution of the Association stated that “the object of the organization shall be the advancement of the interests of the volunteer firemen, and the improvement of the fire service”. Over our 125 years of existence, the Association has helped fire departments and counties with training, legislative resources, fire prevention efforts, and other firematic issues from a regional level. With the shortage of volunteer firefighters in the State, NCYNVFA is working with the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) and other fire organizations to develop recruitment and retention programs for volunteers. Again, these programs need funding to make the programs successful. Advertising from this book will help us to continue to provide these necessary programs to our members throughout the region. Our advertisers took money out of their accounts during COVID to support our organization. Please try and be a patron to these supporting advertisers. Sincerely, Frank Orbaker President
