DIGITAL MARKETING INTERNSHIP - PAID Dumbarton House, a Federal period historic house museum in Georgetown, seeks an intern to assist with its digital marketing during the summer semester of 2017. Dumbarton House, headquarters of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, offers visitors an opportunity to enhance their appreciation of early American history. Dumbarton House strives to inform and educate the public, about life in Washington during the early Republic 1799 and about Federal Period decorative arts and architecture. Dumbarton House is open to the public 6 days a week for public tours and offers youth and adult public programs. We are looking for a digital marketing intern to help us take our digital and internet marketing to the next level. The individual will participate in all aspects of marketing for Dumbarton House. In addition, the intern will, under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Marketing and Museum Membership, undertake a review of the organization’s website, make recommendations, and implement improvements. The role will offer the right individual the opportunity to learn and contribute to the full range of marketing activities in a small cultural organization. A $1,000 stipend will be awarded and/or academic credit may be arranged in cooperation with a sponsoring college or university.

Duties      

Undertake a review of the website and make recommendations for improvement; Research and identify innovative new ways of engaging with audiences online; Create digital content, written and visual; Assist in creation and organization of effective social media campaigns on multiple social media platforms; Update and maintain our social media calendar and media communications lists; Perform other marketing-related tasks, as required.

Qualifications Needed  Excellent digital marketing skills;  Proficiency in Wordpress, Constant Contact and social media platforms required;  Strong writing skills and a flair for layout and design;  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;  Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, including willingness to assist with all aspects of working in a small historic house museum;  Master’s degree, working toward a master’s degree, and/or comparable experience in digital marketing communications or a related field;  Prior experience working in the marketing field preferred. Schedule  160-180 hours in total;  Ideally one 5-day week to start and thereafter 2 x 7-hour weekdays for 10 weeks, though flexibility is possible;  Tentative start week of May 15th through approximately the week of August 7th.
