MEET THE CAST Jen Burleigh-Bentz (Principle Singer) is ecstatic to once again be "home" working with the amazing people of the Duluth Playhouse, and couldn't be happier to be a part of the re-opening of the NorShor with the music from Mamma Mia! Tanya Moore (Principle Singer) continues her theatrical adventures, and recently, they include playing Mama Murphy in Bright Star and Madame de la Grande Bouche in Beauty and the Beast as well as music directing Newsies, Singin' in the Rain Jr. and Eurydice. She almost made it to the stage as Joanne in Company, with the show being closed days before opening. Tanya spent new found quarantine time hiking the Superior Hiking Trail and just finished her first section hike of the Pacific Crest Trail. Her favorite song to sing in this Mamma Mia! concert is "Waterloo" because it is so high energy!

MEET THE CAST Vicki Fingalson (Principle Singer) is thrilled to be back on the NorShor stage and sharing it with such dear friends! With over 60 roles and 80 productions to her credit ranging from grand opera to musical theater, Vicki has been acclaimed for her "luscious sound and comedic sensibility", as well as her "soaring soprano” and "powerful voice". She has performed several times with the Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra in roles such as Marianne in Der Rosenkavalier, First Lady in The Magic Flute, and Sandman/Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel. As a regular with St. Paul- based Skylark Opera Theatre, she has been featured in Sondheim's Putting It Together, Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill, and as Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow. Other national performances include Musetta in La Bohème with West Virginia Symphony, Colorado Opera Festival, and Colorado Lyric Theatre. In the Twin Ports, Vicki has performed the roles of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Madeline/Isabelle in Face on the Barroom Floor, Violetta in La Traviata, the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana with Lyric Opera of the North; in holiday and opera concerts with the DSSO; as Tanya in Mamma Mia!, Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins, Victoria in A Grand Night for Singing! and Ashley in Irving Berlin’s Rags to Ritzes with Duluth Playhouse; featured in Oh, Coward! at The Underground Theatre; and, performed the world premiere of It Rained on Shakopee with Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra. Sara Marie Sorenson (Back-Up Singer) miraculously survived this last year and is insanely excited to be singing at the NorShor again! She is thrilled to be reunited with this fabulous and talented cast. Let's keep our fingers crossed that our theatres never close again!

MEET THE CAST Shad Olsen (Principle Singer) is grateful to be back in his hometown, performing at the Duluth Playhouse! Favorite Playhouse credits include The Music Man (Harold Hill), Mamma Mia! (Sam), Mary Poppins (Bert), Joseph....Dreamcoat (Joseph), La Cage aux Folles (Georges), and Cabaret (Cliff). Shad has enjoyed working off-Broadway, in regional theatre, and national tours. After training in New York City at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), he toured in Les Trois Mousquetaire, The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, and then joined the cast of the long-running off-Broadway musical, A Stoop On Orchard Street. A proud member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), Shad has performed with NYC companies including the Astoria Performing Arts, Rising Phoenix, and Gallery Players, in shows that include Forever Plaid, A New Brain, Children of Eden, Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus, and Violet. His passion for the development of new works led to his involvement in numerous staged readings at the York Theatre, BMI, Primary Stages, and ASCAP. These experiences resulted in his own book and lyrics for The Man in the Iron Mask as well as a collaboration with James Olm and Richard Maltby, Jr. on The Magdalene, also starring Shad, which premiered and played Off-Broadway. Shad also spent time as an Artist in Residence at Caspar College and was a Guest Teaching Artist for the BFA Musical Theatre program at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Regionally, Shad has performed with Lyric Opera of the North, Connecticut Grand Opera, Artistry, The History Theatre, and looks forward to re-opening the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres production of The Music Man in July.

THE CREATIVE TEAM Phillip Fazio (Director) is the new Producing Artistic Director of the NorShor Theatre. His Off-Broadway directing credits include The Book That I’m Going to Write, By Judy Garland (Jerry Orbach Theater) and Gay Camp (Players Theatre). Regional directing credits include Follies, August: Osage County, Proof, Sunday in the Park with George, Caroline or Change, Cabaret, Ragtime, Sweeney Todd, Grey Gardens, Spring Awakening, Next to Normal and The Last Five Years. Assistant credits include working with Tony Award-winner Christopher Ashley on the Broadway musical Diana and assistant directing for Tony Award-nominees Susan H. Schulman and Jeff Calhoun. Phillip is a member of Lincoln Center Theatre’s Directors Lab. He earned a BFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory and an MFA in Directing from Pennsylvania State University. For more information, please visit www.phillipfazio.com. Amber Burns (Choreographer) has been the Artistic Director for the Duluth Playhouse Family Theatre and Education Programming since 2018. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2011 with a BFA in Arts Education and taught visual art for six years. In 2018 Amber received a master’s degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Arts Development and Program Management from the University of Denver. She has been working at the Playhouse as a teacher, choreographer, director, and actor since 2011. Recent shows in directing, choreographing, and acting include: Mamma Mia!, Baskerville, Winnie the Pooh, Newsies, Frozen JR, Grease and Matilda.

Jeff Brown (Lighting Designer) is the owner of BrownKnows Design, a design and fabrication studio in Duluth, MN. Jeff has spent just over two decades as a lighting and scenic designer, technical director, and production manager for a wide variety of theaters in the Midwest and Arizona. Jeff and BrownKnows Design also designs and fabricates escape rooms, permanent exhibits and play spaces for several Midwest cultural organizations.

THE CREATIVE TEAM Andy Kust (Music Director) is an award-winning music director, vocal coach and pianist, is the Resident Music Director at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, and is the co-owner of Twin Cities Musical Theatre Training. He is thrilled to be back at the NorShor, working with Phillip, Amber, and all of these incredible artists. Some favorite Playhouse credits include The Music Man, Mamma Mia!, Billy Elliot, Joseph...Dreamcoat, Mary Poppins, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Bare. Andy served on the Musical Theater Faculty at the University of Minnesota Duluth for 5 years, and prior to that, held a Teaching Assistantship with the musical theater program at Arizona State University. He currently has a private studio in the Twin Cities, where he works with clients that have appeared on Broadway and in the national touring companies of Wicked, Dear Evan Hansen, Frozen, Mean Girls, and Spring Awakening, and at regional theaters across the country. As a college audition coach, recent clients have been accepted to the musical theatre programs at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Carnegie Mellon University, The University of Michigan, UW Stevens Point, and Baldwin Wallace. Andy also keeps a busy schedule as a coach and pianist, serving as the Associate Music Director for the Spotlight Program at the Hennepin Theatre Trust, as an Artist Educator for the Ordway Center of Performing Arts, as well as a substitute keyboardist for numerous national tours. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Music from Luther College, Master of Music in Theatre Music Direction and Performance from Arizona State University

Peg Ferguson (Costume Designer) enjoyed designing the costumes for the first live production at the NorShor Theatre as we navigate through the health crisis. It was great working with this group of actors and crew.

Evan Kelly (Scenic Designer) is an actor, designer, director, and improv comedian, and works as the Production Manager for the Duluth Playhouse. Recent acting work includes Beauty and the Beast (Gaston), The Toxic Avenger (The Toxic Avenger), Renegade Improv, and The Rocketman (The Rocketman). Prepandemic, you may have caught Evan in the villainous role of Miss Trunchbull in Roald Dahl’s Matilda at the Family Theatre.

Nicholas Gosen (Sound Designer) is happy to be working with the Playhouse at the NorShor again. He has a BFA in Technical Theater from UMD and is currently pursuing his MFA in Sound Design for Visual Media with AAU based in San Francisco. You can see his work here with The Duluth Playhouse main season and Concert Series at the NorShor and around town with Take It With You, Renegade, Wise Fool, UWS and now in different film projects. Kaci Goldman Brock (Stage Manager) is a freelance Stage Manager here in Duluth. This year (2021) marks her 14th year working on shows with the Duluth Playhouse. While last year was certainly a difficult one, she is thrilled to be back in her second home doing what she loves. It has been an absolute blast working with this extremely talented cast, crew, and design team. She thanks her family and friends for their continued love and support, and hopes you enjoy the show.
